Kirbyville vs. Buna..Kirbyville Wins!
Lefty99 replied to nike09's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I believe that most people with common sense about baseball understand what happened with that game. It could be different IF they play again! Who knows. The rivalry between these two teams goes a longs ways back because of the proximity of these towns being so close to each other. I am just glad to see them playing from time to time again. The way the next realignment is looking they will get the chance to face each other alot more in the near future. And trust me this thread isn't as bad as you make it out to be. I've had to moderate many that were much worse. It's all in fun and that's they way I see it staying. That is what this site is for. -

The man on the mound can make a difference in the game ;D Only if the other 8 on the field do their job too... -
You talk like Buna is like Tiger Woods! The only way they can lose is by beating themselves? ??? As far as the pitcher...if it was Hazlewood that pitched then I am not surprised at how well he did. Without a doubt one of the grittiest, and toughest athlete's I've seen in a while, and he hasn't played ball since he was a Fish!

That's a mild understatement!

Congrats on a big win Wildcats! -
Well both the boys and girls tennis team from Kirbyville advanced to State Team Tennis! Congrats to all!

I just got a phone call that Tippett and Atkinson of Kirbyville are doing very well in doubles and singles each...at this point all they need is 10 games in both to make it to State Team Tennis in Round Rock and they have already beat their toughest opponent yet....Good job guys! The word is they are dominating every doubles team they face! Didn't get much of a report on the Kirbyville girls, but the word is they are playing very well also...I believe Landry and her doubles partner lost their last match but both are doing good in singles as is Moore for the girls.

It's in the same sense as sending your kid to a tutor to help them learn a certain subject...as long as it's in the same guidelines.

Boy that was $3 million of our tax dollars well spent! Just don't think it was worth it....they were expecting more positive tests.

You are right about that! I was fortunate enough to play a little college ball and those things happen all the time. Heck when I play softball here in Bmt I still won't step on the foul lines when entering or leaving the field...it's become second hand after all these yrs.

You are right, Penny. Some of them baseball parents beleive their kid is the next Nolan Ryan or Tony Gwynn. Reminds me too much of my Little League coaching days. : You are right about that Aggie.

Great Aritcle! I went through a 5-5 season my Jr. year, and suffered through a 0-10 season my Sr. year in HS football. Comparing the 2 seasons I learned more life lessons in the 0-10 season than any other time in life. It truley isn't all about winning all the games and playing every single down! Coaches deserve much more than they get! I never once saw my coach give up in that year admist everything that was being said about him! He loved the young men that played for him no matter what the record was, and I appreciate that to this day!

They aren't going to play any doubles in the tourneys leading up to district? I know that they play alot together, but I would think they would play some doubles to keep the kinks out.

5 Random Things about Baseball
Lefty99 replied to adminbaberuth's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
1. Threw 3 no hitters in varsity ball. 2 in one yr....and had a 7 RBI game against Warren my Jr yr...3-run dinger, 3-run triple, and 1 RBI double...yep 3-4 missed out on the cycle, and I was a doubles machine! > 2. Touched Pesky's Pole at Fenway(greatest stadium ever)...Didn't have a sharpie or I would have signed it like everyone else! 3. Never got an actual ball at a pro game until my daughter made her first ever trip to a game at 2 yrs old....That's my luck....still have it on the mantle...Thanks Ryan Howard! 4. Made Sportcenter in 98 when Bagwell hit game tying HR to left field against the Cards in the Dome...was on the first row and the ball landed about 2 feet from a buddies outstreched glove ball went into the fake flowers...Also saw McGwire hit #32 of his record breaking season in that game! Still have it on tape somewhere around here. 5.Called my shot in Summer league in HS...was ticked that the coached scratched me from pitching the game and when we were in the dugout in the top of the 2nd (hitting clean-up) I told my teammates that I was hitting the first pitch out. Played the game in the Buna Sr league field...My dad found the ball across Hwy 62...Yep went through the trees in RC and across the hwy...longed HR I ever hit....teammates said the ball was still climing when it left the park and that I should get PO'd more often...They liked to warn the other team as I went to bat in other games..."Big hitter"!!!! Scoot back...scoot back! -
Haven't heard that. Would be a great asset if he does play...

He is not against football at all to the contrary. Texas A&M had him on an offical visit last weekend. They would like for him to be an Aggie so they asked him to "Walk On" and didn't offer any type of scholly. I also heard Hazlewood was asked about by many small colleges but Hazlewood says he's done with football... he's looking forward to going to school as well as having more time to hog hunt, deer hunt, and fish! I heard about Randy going to A&M a couple of days before signing day. I got the same report that you stated. Still has football as an option. You are dead right about Aaron...

Good point...
