  1. Center isn't a job that a very good coach wants to take. They have a LONG way to go! Just don't see that happening. Could be wrong... Perception, perception, perception. Center is a diamond in the rough with the right leadership my friend. Kirbyville was far worse off a few years ago before they hired Alvarez than Center is today. But, you're right, it would be a challenge... but that is what a lot of coaches look for... the fun challenges. Jut stating the way I see it. Not that it's the facts or not! I don't doubt that they are better off than Kville was when Alvarez was hired! I just don't see why someone would pull their name out of a 4A job for a 3A job. He said it himself. He's coached both 2A and 3A and he is happy where he is. Who's knows? Only those close to the situation know what is going on! Would hate to see him leave though....
  2. No football for either one. Hazelwood said he is hanging up the football cleats. As for Musgrove, same story. It's reported that he didn't want a football scholarship. He wants a baseball scholarship instead. As good as he was in football he is 10x better at baseball. Hazelwood is also a very good baseball player but I believe he hasn't played since his freshman yr.

  4. That's what I was thinking as far as the setup at other places. It's going to have to be the perfect job for him to take it. Kirbyville is very fortunate to keep him.
  5. Well said they little fella
  6. That's what I like to see! The ags are going to be tough this yr!
  7. Yes sir you hit the nail on the head...my dad went to school with him and has nothing but great things to say about him.
  8. Kirbyville will be much better off this yr being in 2A...With that said the second best baseball player in Kirbyville hasn't played since his freshman yr(Hazlewood)...i believe he was newcomer of the yr as a freshman...Buna returns alot this yr...Terrier is cut out of Russell Delome's mold...he was the JV coach when I played for Kirbyville in HS...Both coaches for each school have alot of baseball knowledge, and it will show with each yr in Kirbyville with Lane at the helm....as far as these two teams can't we save the argument until the playoffs as long as both teams get there and meet up, because at this point it is a moot point!
  9. Cecchini is a great coach. He coached my best friends BIL in HS...who is now with the Padres...was a Sept. call up...Wade LeBlanc.
  10. Sounds like it was only a joy ride...good to hear...a guy i went to school with had his truck stolen about 2 weeks before Christmas...contents were an expensive 4-wheeler, and christmas presents...found later in Houston stripped and burned, and the insurance didn't want to repay the worth of it while having Gap coverage...talking about getting hosed!
  11. Yep...we had to broadcast the 2 Kville games their this yr with cell phones upside down so we could talk into the mic better.
  12. From a broadcaster's perspective, please have them put at least a phone line in the pressbox, but preferably get ethernet or wifi up there. It is the only pressbox in Southeast Texas that doesn't have at least a phone line. No lie...even Kville has a phone line...after we repaired it....may sound crazy but the wireless doesn't do well everytime Kville scores...that dang train horn cuts the signal...just as jtownstar, triska, and jdawg.
  13. All of this cockyness will get you the same place you were this year. Losing where it matters most. Karma is a mo fo and you got it this year. How is it cockiness when someone states the facts that Kville throttled SA this yr with a running clock in the 2nd half? SA has a lot of work in getting a new coach with a new system, and having the players adjust to that system. That being said, Kirbyville will still have a VERY good running game and I don't see much change next yr. You don't see much change next year? Does that mean that you expect the Wildcats to play for a state championship again in 2009? Come on tiggervoice ;D Don't start putting words in my mouth...We were talking about the SA/Kville game next yr...don't take things out of context...however, i do think that kville will make the playoffs but to go to the championship game is streaching it a bit don't you think?...i support them 100% and hope they make a good run at it!
  14. Yeah, just ask Derrick Stephens a promising LB at A&M who had to retire from football because of concussions!
  15. What are you talking about...I met the OL coach when they came by to recruit Charlie...he said they are loosing one person off their line...they were young and inexperienced...they'll be tougher this season! Prime example...Central OLine...they were young last season but came together! It could happen...a lot can happen in an offseason if they really want it! they may be tougher but their talent level isnt going to magically double in one off-season. Its going to take a few years of good recruiting to get the aTm O-line back to even being considered "decent"......but the athletic QB & potential talent at RB could help ease the transition. Franchione neglected that O-line and they graduated most of their talent after last season, just look at the huge drops in production from Goodson & Lane this season. aTm will feel the effects of this for at least a couple more seasons. The one positive is Sherman has some decent talent at the offensive skill positions to somewhat ease this down period. I think most of the drop off was due to the change in system...Lane was their bull doozer and Goodson the HR threat!...In the pro style offense...they changed from a dual threat to a downhill team putting Lane on a short leash...don't get me wrong I don't mind the change in offense, but Michael will only make things better if he runs between the Tackles! could be wrong but micheal is a back who's fit for only the spread offense........imagine micheal playing in a central or ozen's offense he probably wouldnt be the back he is today.........so thats another reason i think he made a bad decision on picking aTm to go to school You have a god point but he is a prefect blend of speed and power. Very capable of running inside as well as outside the tackles. There is a reason he is the #4 RB in the country.
  16. The offensive line will be a big issue, but with that being said....Sherman is doing something that "Fran Cakes" never did! Recruit offensive lineman, which he has done an excellent job at!!! Will be rough again next yr with alot of young guys having to learn very fast...It can't be turned around in 1 yr...they will somewhat better though...after next yr A&M will much improved. Yes their back field will be LOADED! Gray is something to see. He showed alot of promise this yr, and as for Stephens, he is going to have to learn to hang on to the ball if he wants to play much! WAY too many fumbles this yr when he played. Lefty.. are you a poor aggie? a&m is a disgrace, but they did pick up a WINNER in this kid, Michael! I hope he wins them all but one! HOOK 'EM! Yep an Aggie through and through! Every school goes through these cycles! t.u. fans can't forget the Akers, and Machovic eras! Not the best of times huh?! A discrace that has beat t.u. 2 out of 3 yrs! ;D
  17. Try the Salt Lick in Driftwood...which I am sure someone on here has besides me!

  19. You are correct! There are people on smoaky that are from Dfield that aren't like kevnasty, and they let it be known! Lefty, you are exactly right. Daingerfield fans are actually a good bunch of folks. Most of us hang out on Smoaky.com. We don't bash other teams and always give respect where it is deserved. We had a great team this year and some folks were obviously excited. Some people may have gotten carried away a little bit. But, if you have a great team and you try telling people how good they are on a forum, you may come across as arrogant or whatever and you may not even know it. I have seen Newton fans and K'ville fans do exactly that same thing on this very site. Wouldn't you agree? The only time that it got out of hand was leading up to the Kirbyville/Anahuac playoff game. Other than that it has been in good fun. It always happens when someone new comes to this board or to another, but sometimes you can see through the smoke!

  21. Will this be in Sunday's paper?
  22. Settle down Rykerx144. Last year is over, so don't look back... look ahead: Returning Offense: All-District Center, Dustin West; Second Team All-District Guard, Dillon Peel; Newcomer of The Year, RB, LeFredrick Ford; Returning Co-Starter, FB, JaMichael Ervine; Fred Rhodes, RB, talk is he will be back; Good young linemen to fill the gaps; QB position will end up being good; 2nd TE, Chris Ezidore, currently takes over at the position; Stefan Jackson, will figure in somewhere on offense; Justin Keene will be a really good WR. The Cats will still be able to score as always. Good chance Coach Alvarez will leave. He has applied for other jobs. He ha applied for jobs for about 3-4 yrs in a row now, but I am sure that he wants it to be the RIGHT job for him. Schools have even been after him but he continued to saty where he is. If he doesn't leave this yr I see him staying put for quite a while. This is the yr to get that job he wants. IMO
  23. what position does broderick johnson play?? Safety, and he is a beast! 5-11 210 and a legit 4.5-40. Didn't have alot of INT's but was laying the wood all season to anyone who got passed the LB's. Don't know his totals on D though.
