Jasper taking District 21-3a this year
j_dog replied to Texas1's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Sorry Broadcaster. I forgot to mention that you were the primary reason for the turnaround! ;D -
If Silsbee loses, who wooda thunk it. : ???
-
Realistically, I think Silsbee will pull this game out of the hat. Well, at least they usually do.
-
I talked to the KJAS tech at the Silsbee game last week. Since my Media Player will not work for KJAS he told me how to copy the URL from Media Player and paste it to RealPlayer. I tried it and it worked, at least once anyway. I had it working tonight, but right now I am listening to KOGT. Their reporting might be less "biased". ;D So, anyway, I may be able to help with the updates if you fall asleep this time!

Congratulations Woodville! On to state!

***UIL Considering Radical Football Realignment Plan***
j_dog replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Nothing the UIL might do would surprise me. Back in the late seventies or early eighties Silsbee, Jasper, Lumberton, LCM, BC, Hebert, Crosby and others were in a district that also included Channelview and Galena Park. Fourteen teams! Don't for a minute think the UIL won't do the totally unthinkable. > -
For Jasper, I would not even think of trying to pick out just one.

Jasper taking District 21-3a this year

You are just a youngster! ;D I remember far more pathetic Jasper teams than last year's team. But it was a long time ago. However, I do know this. Following the last 2-8 Jasper record that I remember, Jasper rolled through district winning it outright. You BC and Silsbee folks remember 1975? James Hadnot? Oliver (Bull) Hadnot? David Scott? Just to name a few. I think it was Coach Lauve who said that you are never as good as you think you are when you are winning, and never as bad as you think you are when you are losing. 2007 is a whole new season and what happened last year is just history. The big question is, what will this year bring? I don't know. Will wait to see. -
Jasper taking District 21-3a this year

Expecting Jasper to win the district is being too darn optimistic. : Jasper fans need to realize that we need to perform first, then we can talk a bit. But, Jasper should compete for a playoff spot. You Silsbee fans saw the Dogs at their very worst, long after they lost their spirit to play. The Jasper coaches let them get down, and that should never, never happen. Maybe that had something to do with the fact that most of that coaching staff is now gone on to other places. But did you see them earlier in the year? I saw them give 4a Livingston about all they could handle. And as I recall, some of the SE Tx 4a teams had a bit of difficulty with Livingston themselves. Jasper gave Newton a pretty good run as I remember also as well as a few other teams. My point is that yes, Jasper has a big hole to dig out of. But, that hole is not necessarily nearly as deep as the game with Silsbee might indicate. There was some talent on that team that played Livingston early in the year and I don't think all that talent graduated. Jasper was down when Brooks arrived before, and he revived the team. Why should we doubt that he will revive them once again? By the way, Jasper's toughest district teams were on the road last year. This year they will get KV, BC, WOS, and Silsbee at Jasper. That might make a difference if the game is close. -
Jasper vs. BC District Title Predictions?
j_dog replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Jasper wins 1-0. ;D Just guessing, but you may be disappointed if you expect to see a lot of Jasper bunting. Jasper mostly just hit away against Silsbee and Schooling. Stringer was perhaps a special case in the last BC-Jasper game. -
*Jasper 13 Kirbyville 2 Final/Tuesday*

Who pitched for Jasper? -
And BC did start Stringer. Made sense. Lock up the playoff spot at the first opportunity.
-
Congratulations on the big win, BC and Stringer! Now we can have a "fun" game on Friday.
-
Sadly, grades got some runners at the last minute. As I understand it, Jasper had already qualified relay teams for the finals, and had to pull them because of grades. But, they had a freshman, sophomore dominated team. They will be back in force next year! (I hope!) >
-
That is precisely why BC will throw everything they have into winning over HJ. They will not want their playoff possibilities riding on HAVING to beat Jasper. I predict that BC will start Stringer against HJ and go for it all Tuesday night.
-
Jasper should win this one. My guess, and it is a guess, is that Jasper will pitch someone who has not been one of the two main starters. Perhaps Stephenson, or perhaps Ellis. It surely won't be Reagan who pitched Friday night against Silsbee. Jasper needs to keep him for BC! ;D
-
This game is HUGE for both teams. HJ loses and they have four losses. If that happens, I don't see the other three teams in the chase getting to four losses. If BC loses, then they would be facing possible playoff elimination Friday against Jasper. (I know that is not likely BC will lose to Jasper Friday, but on paper .......) Yes, this game is HUGE for both teams. Wish I could see it!
-
Brooks says he is already walking the halls recruiting the players back who dropped out of the program. I think he will have the numbers back up by this fall.
-
turn that prediction upside down and you just about nailed it! ;D
-
Jasper was batting against Stringer. Who was Silsbee batting against? Could that have made a difference in the offensive productions? For sure, Stringer shut Jasper down; just as he has done to several other teams.
-
Jasper 1, Silsbee 0
-
yeah, but their fate is still in their own hands!
-
Congratulations Hawks. You did what you had to do to stay in the playoff picture.
