1. Not entirely accurate. Brooks left Jasper for Ozen, then left Ozen for one of the big Tyler schools, THEN he returned to Jasper to finish out his career.
2. What a difference a new stadium in a little town makes! Happy to see some playoff games in Jasper.
3. Jasper wins 4-3, after never leading in the game! Go Dogs! And amazingly, Jasper scored the winning runs with two out. Hope it goes a little easier tomorrow. Hard on the nerves.
4. CS 3-2, Jasper coming to bat bottom of 6th. CS had the bases loaded with no outs, and only got one run.
5. CS leading 2-1 end of four. Jasper had the bases loaded, and could not get another run across.
6. CS leading 2-0, Jasper coming to bat in the bottom of the fourth. Justice pitching for Jasper.
7. Well, yes it appeared that Jasper did try to run with Silsbee. It even worked at times. But clearly not often enough. An amazing game. Don't think that I ever saw two teams both running like that. But Jasper had nothing to lose. I think it gave Jasper some good experience to get ready for district. In spite of getting soundly whipped, it was still a fun game to watch.
8. Randy Spikes signed with a junior college per the Jasper Newsboy.
9. Sam's new coach quickly discovered Jasper! By the way, did Chris Spikes sign with anyone? Sam made an offer to him also. Have not seen his name pop up on any signing lists.
10. Yes, it does put a new look on things.  Sam should be ready for 2015.
11. I heard just today that Sam keeps a pretty close rein on ALL players. They had better be going to class, and performing or else.... else they can go somewhere else.
12. Wow! It seems that the bigger they are, the better Sam plays. Unless it is LSU.....
13. Sam was a big underdog? Where was J State rated?
14. Congrats Sam!  As they are implying, better get that offense in gear!!
15. I had the privilege to watch them one game in the Jasper tournament.  Awesome is all I can say.  They demolished that team. Can someone remember this; although I did not see it in the article.  After one of the seasons, I think in 63-64 for their warm up game after district they played Panola Junior College; AND BEAT THEM! Thank you for the article.  Brought back some good memories.
16.

I was told Jasper started 5 freshman against BC.  Jasper only has 23 players in their entire program and 15 are freshman. Where did everyone go?  Jasper has been one of the top programs in the state over the last decade.
I posted this is another thread.  Anyone?
Don't know.  I had heard last year that it would be a small senior class; but THIS??  I guess we will just have to see how it plays out.  Maybe more of the players are moving to football only! ;D It looks that this might be a severe down year for Jasper.  But they will rebound.  Too much Jasper baseball history for the town folk to let the program die.
