Sometimes, I have succeeded by totally exiting the site, and reloading completely. But that may be what you have done? Seems really strange that folks are having trouble.
I hope someone who is there or still getting the feed will update this thread. Dang, I wish I could have gone... Sounds like a really good game.
Have you tried refreshing your browser? I lost voice, clicked on the refresh button and it has worked since then.

Coldspring-Oakhurst Trojans VS Wimberley Texans
j_dog replied to MEM's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
all those stats and 2 or 3 dollars will get you a cup of coffee in most places. all the teams remaining are very good. it is now mostly about how any two teams match up player wise. and about who has the best plan, and about who executes their plan the best. Go Coldspring, march right on into another state championship game. -
Coldspring-Oakhurst Trojans VS Wimberley Texans

I like Wimberly, but Coldspring of course! -
I would like to see Wimberly win because their fans seem to have been good posters for years. :)
Also, about 20 years after the Cowboys stopped having camp in Huntsville. Coincidence or some Cowboy genetics show up in Huntsville High for awhile?
Well if that were the case, the last few years should have been very, very special indeed! ;D
Regarding Justin Gilbert at Huntsville High, he was the starting QB in 2008 and 2009 when Huntsville played in Brenham's district. Huntsville went undefeated in district in 2008, but then somehow managed to lose to Lockhart in the 1st round. In 2009, they lost just one district game (to Brenham). Defeated Hays Consol in the 1st round before losing to Beaumont Central in the 2nd round 28-24. They should have beaten Central. Gilbert also ran kicks back, and when he hit the open field, he was long gone. Speed was ridiculous. Tune in tonight and watch him run kicks back for OK State.
Just read this morning that Huntsville has won only one playoff game in the last 20 years. So that was 'the one" against Hays Consilidated. That is sad for a program that won state around 1980 and regularly went deep into the 4a playoffs. The coach retired, and so did the winning. Coaching does make a huge difference.

There is a bit of "genetics" at work there also.
May be but hard not to have a kid like Gilbert and be succesful and the raw speed they have on their team. Dont know much about their staff but good team.
Well, the head coach's dad was one of the most successful high school coaches in the history of the state. Name: Curtis Barbay at Newton. Obviously, Brian Barbay learned something from him. I have heard that the same kind of talent has been at Coldspring over the years, but underachieved. Many schools have just as much talent but rarely have great success. Other schools do not have all that much talent, but regularly go deep into the playoffs. Most coaches know the X's and O's but that is seldom enough. It all starts at the top with the leadership. With a good vision. With good people skills. With salesmanship. With respect. A winning program takes it all. Case in point. Gilbert's brother played at Huntsville Highs School. Started three years. Won state in track, 100 meters. Per OSU website, he is the fastest human on their campus, including the track team. I was fortunate enough to get to see him play. He was an OUTSTANDING high school player. If necessary, he could run 40 yards to get 20. He was virtually un-catchable at times. Question. How many playoff games did Hunstville win during that time? How many playoff games did they even play in?
Yes, Gilbert and Monroe are both seniors...Scott (QB) is a junior...
just curious, do you know what kinda offers gilbert and monroe have on the table?
I don't know, but I did read that Gilbert hopes to join his brother at Oklahoma State. I expect that OSU will leap at the chance to get Sherman because his older brother has certainly turned heads up there. Even as a freshman he made the highlight shows for the Big 12. Either one of them can be game changers. -

Don't talk smack to us until you win something. I'm sure you would treat us pour Trojans the same if you won.
I guess as a CS fan I don't really see it the same way...Yes we did beat WOS in basketball last year, however, we haven't won anything yet...It was awesome to witness the run to the state title game last year and watch this years team try to get back but until we're able to actually win a state title or two no matter how much I love my trojans and the kids who play for them we simply won't have the skins (so to speak) on the wall that a team like WOS does...All smack talk aside WOS state championships in multiple sports speaks for itself...Has CS had the upperhand the last few years? Yes but fortunes could reverse just as quickly... There was alot of smack talk on both sides but IMO most all WOS posters have been nothing short of gracious and complementary following a hard fought loss...The fact that they're able to do this shows that they've seen the cyclical nature of sports and understand that you win some, lose some... Just enjoy the ride because what the boys from CS have done so far the last 3 years is really special... Very few teams get to enjoy thanksgiving and december highschool football...They're making memories that will literally last a lifetime...
Well said. It is good to remember to respect everyone on your way up. You may meet them on your way back down. -

It seems CS has become a mirror image of what WOS used to be. Great defense, and just enough offense to win a ton of games. No matter what a team did, WOS generally found a way to win. From what I have heard there is no reason to think much has changed. Good luck to both teams. -

But Lorena scares me for you. I saw them a couple or so years ago. Big corn fed boys. Not particularly fast, but somehow they found a way to beat a superior (my opinion) Center team. CS, better put them away early. Don't let them hang around.
I totally agree...we put them away before half-time a couple of years ago and they still came back to beat us. We should know from experience not to take this team lightly!
Three years ago was three years ago. Different teams. The Lorena team I saw cant match up with our size and speed. We need to take the BS out of the playbook! Line up, get the snap, pound the football. Hope the leapords eat plenty cornbread this week. Their gonna need it! LOL
Come on now. Maybe they cannot match up. I would pretty much assume that, not even have seen either team this year. That Lorena team I saw also did not exactly "match up" with the Center team. But Lorena still won. From what I have seen over the years you can pretty well predict what kind of team a town if going to field. They pretty much field the kids of the previous teams players, and they will be a whole lot like their fathers. I am pulling for you guys, but you have not exactly been blowing folks away recently. Smart to just keep the powder dry, and do your talking after you have done the walking??
