2. As Jasper learned, CH is EXPLOSIVE.  La Vega would seem to be containing them, and then CH would break one to the end zone.
 3. Chapel Hill 27, La Vega 20 Final Game was tied with less than two minutes remaining and CH had the ball on their one foot line.  On third and about 4 to go for a first, CH broke a long one for a TD to pull out the game.
 4. for sure, there was some talent on the field that night.  i seem to remember that wos had a fellow named smith ??
 5.

i was at the Jasper game and all I have to say is DANG. Chapel hills offensive line will beat any defensive line which opens the way for the 3 headed running machine they have. Their Defensive line is pretty big and their secondary was massive compared to most. With that being said though Jasper Had a good time passing despite the score. Jasper was killing with the slant route at the end and they still didn't shut down Morrisey completely. ITS THE OFFENSE YOU HAVE TO WATCH OUT FOR!!!!!!!!!!!
Didn't Jasper have quite a few turnovers?
don't know how many turnovers, but Jasper had two inside the CH twenty in the first half.  Considering how the CH fans were dismissing the dogs over on Smokey, I guess Jasper did a pretty good job just hanging 28 points on them. Tonight, I get to see for myself the mighty CH team!  The question is whether La Vega can slow them down.  From what I have read, they may be the only team out there that has a realistic chance?

I missed seeing that game live, but I have it on VHS.  Brenham was definitely a good opponent for us.  It was a close first half, then our defense put the clamps on the Cubs in the 2nd half.  87Cub, it's good to hear from someone who experienced those years.  Don't feel too old...there are several WO-S fans here who are older than you.
We ran the guard around for a TD late in the first half that got called back because our guard had his knee down when he picked up the ball.  UGH!  WOS was a very worthy opponent, because we were in a very tough district at that time, and really expected to win that game.  Oh well....we had a good year.
It's interesting to hear you bring up that play.  We used the exact same play two weeks later in our rematch with Jasper.  It Worked.  We scored.  Thanks to that play we won the game.
It is a pretty strong statement to say that one play won a game.  But for sure that play did turn the game around.  I think Jasper was up 9-0 at the time?  Momentum changed for sure.
 7. Coldspring over-rated??  Good joke.  State finalist.  Over-rated!  That is a good conversation starter.  and that is all it is.
 8.
I have had the same three bags of corn in my camper since opening weekend ( Jasper area 96 @ 255) some corn I put out the week before gun season still on the ground beginning to get that old sour look. Saw some big white oak acorns around the same time.. saw none on Sunday but alot of red oak acorns on the ground. My trail cam pics are down to near zero as well.. Had one buck  running across the lane on one camera and a doe and yearling on another high tailing it across another fire lane. Yearling look like it was saying WAIT FOR ME MOM!
I saw a BIG buck back in the summer off 96 and 255 back in the summer.  Haven't had time to go back to check whether he is still around.
 9. Morgan is looking good to me right now.  The last time Jasper went with an "outside the box" hire, they brought in Gene Walkoviak at age 28.  Morgan came in at age 29.  Walkoviak went 5-4-1 in his first season.  Morgan 6-4 in his first regular season.  Walkoviak won around 80 percent of his games over the next 20 years.  I like to think that Morgan has that kind of potential or better. I did not get to see this year's team play, but I have to believe Jasper is once again on the right track.  Surely hope so.  The team should be loaded with returning veterans next season so we should know pretty quick whether Morgan will be the "real thing".

I suspect that by now just about everyone knows that if you give Gilbert half a step, it is TD time.  From what I have seen, he has the speed of his brother.  I saw both play hs ball and and his brother, per OSU website (last year) is the fastest human at Oklahoma State (including the track team).  I am curious to see how highly recruited Sherman will become.
Man J_Dog, you haven't flipped sides and dropped Jasper for Coldsprings have you?  I know they are closer to your house, but you are the Jasper sports encyclopedia.
just waiting for the dogs to do something worthy of talking about.  :)  well, they now HAVE won 3 in a row, and have a playoff spot tied up.  probably against Chapel Hill.  if they beat Chapel Hill, then ............  then I will start taking notice......  Jasper is basically a Soph laden team, with a lot yet to prove.  So, snice CS is so close to home, have to give them some props!
 11.
what year did his brother play
His brother started at Huntsville for at least 3 years at several different postions, including QB.  Was a freshman at OSU last year, and got into some highlight reels as I remember.  Won the 4a 100m his senior year.  Tough to catch in broken field running.  Was a joy to watch.
come on over!  we will take all the luck we can get!
 14.

Coldspring is OK? COME ON MAN! Kville wouldn't have even scored if our little sophomore corner hadn't have gotten caught looking inside, you should be thanking Barbay for having a heart and not running the score up or it woulda been closer to the 100 point victory  that somebody else predicted, give your kids credit, they did all they could do, but don't talk down on us like we are just OK, we're pretty dang good, and like Kville we will get better too, best of luck on the rest of the season.
I give credit to Coldspring. Yall are good but we are way down or else it would have been a close game just like the previous game. We have nothing but Sophmores every where too and even freshmans playing as well. Good luck on the Trojans im looking to see how far yall go. Like i said its been a Very long time since Kirbyville has been beaten this bad. Coldspring has a good player in Sherman Gilbert, but i wonder if he run into a team that keys on him well what Coach Barbay gonna do then. I think yall gonna have to rely on the defense to keep up.
As if Gilbert has never been keyed on?  CS has more than one way to get the ball to Gilbert.  And in an open field, watch out.  His speed is on a whole other plane.
 15. Raider fans that knock your team: perhaps, maybe, just maybe, Jasper is a whole lot better than you gave them credit for?  After a few more games we will begin to see the relative strengths of all the teams.  It is too soon to get down on your team.
 16. Congrats Dogs!  now go do the same thing to Livingston!
 17. The ability to make adjustments on the fly is what separates the great coaches from the average.
 18. Lumberton getting back into the game.  Scored, and driving again.  Jasper 28 - 14
 19.
Kirbyville is definely down
maybe not.  Coldspring is definitely good! and Gilbert is possibly the faster rb in texas.
 20. what is to happen in the second half?  Will Jasper call off the dogs, or try to pour it on?  Will Jasper even be able to continue to pour it on?  Lumberton may make some big time adjustments for the second half.
 21.
Wasn't Morrissey the QB last year for Jasper?
yep.  moved back to his soph rb spot.  apparently that is his right position.  he did a pretty good number on Gilmer as a soph.  not surprised that Lumberton seems to have no answer for him
