Since Walkoviak was still coaching at Jasper when he left, I do not know anything about Jasper's "turning him down".  Perhaps he wanted a raise and didn't get it? Regardless, I am happy to see him do well.
Actually Alvarez could have came to Jasper the year Brooks came back (But instead they re-signed Brooks). The only reason he didnt come is because they wouldnt offer him a two year contract they only offered him a one so Alvarez turned Jasper down Jasper didnt turn Alvarez down.
well Jasper clearly made a huge mistake then.  Alvarez is a proven commodity.  He has won year after year with whatever kids came along.  Contrast that to coaches that move to "greener pastures" when the talent pipeline for any given year goes dry.  That kind of hides a coach's true talents.  There is no question about Alvarez, he is the real deal.
 2.
.....Jasper hasn't had a good coach willing to commit to the program long term since Walkoviak.
and his WORST record for any given year was 4 wins and 5 losses in 1985.
 3.
......  This team has been through alot the past two weeks and should be commended for how they have handled the adversity.
Absolutely true!

 5. You are right.  Jasper has always come back.  The big question is whether they can do it this year.  This game with Center will tell a lot.
 6. Sam rolled on...  back to Huntsville with the win.  ;)
 7. Is Sam playing the freshman QB?  He put the britches on Gardner Webb last week.
 8. Jasper is the definite underDOG.  The game is at Center, Center is mad from last year, and Center has won twice as many games as Jasper.  Jasper will score on Center, Center will score more. Bet your lunch money on Center.  :(
 9. OF 49-30 final. Congratulations OF!  u put a country whipping on the dogs.
 10. Garbage time, Jasper score by Armstrong. 49-30 now.  minute plus to go.  Jasper onside kick coming?
 11.
who scored for jasper
sorry, didn't hear.
 12.
Jasper misses the playoffs this year and if things continue the way they are, they won't make it for years to come.
things will not continue this way.  you can count on that.
 13.
Youth has nothing to do with the kind of drubbing that Jasper is receiving.
I agree with that!  This is the fifth game of the year.  Time to have the youth problems solved.
 14. Gee, a 37-14 lead and OF attempts on-side kick!  :o  risky ?
 15. like i said:

time for jasper to show up, if they want to turn around and make the playoffs, this is the first step
lol Jasper will make the playoffs Kirbyville and Center are the only competition they will have no other team can compete with Jasper in that district ;)
I have seen Diboll put it to Jasper before, and someday Huntington is going to wake up and shock somebody.  These teams would love to knock off Jasper and you can count on their working extra hard to do it.  You may in your heart believe what you said.  That does not make it smart to say it for the Dogs' sake. Jasper had better be ready to play EVERY week from here on out, or the Dogs will be sitting on the sidelines come playoff time. 17.
In the past this would be a game to see the under classman get lots of playing time for jasper but now day's I dont know if jasper can beat orangefield.
from what I hear, the underclassmen will be getting LOTS of playing time, just as they have all year.
 18. I stay away from my computer for two days, and then I read this! I had a sinking feeling when I read Friday night that Barbay had been taken to the hospital.  Well, I certainly hope that this sad turn of events does not come in threes.  We don't need any more of this! Condolences to the Barbay family, and everyone in Newton.  He was a fine man, and was an easy person to talk with.  He will be missed greatly, but not forgotten.
 19. Right now, I would settle for an injury free game.  No matter who wins. Good luck to both teams.

Speaking of that the Jasper Coaches and players showed more class and respect than I have ever seen shown by any team. People in Jasper should be extremely proud of the coaches and players. I know as a WOS fan I am very proud of those boys and men. Thank you for the way you consoled the Mustangs after the game. I can honestly say that the Jasper Bulldogs gained at least one fan Friday night by the way they handled themselves.
Thank you for the props for Jasper.  But I think Jasper coaches, players and fans were simply doing what came naturally to them.  That was not something they could have specifically prepared for.  I think you would have gotten the same response from any other team and its supporters.  I cannot imagine otherwise.
Maybe maybe not. I just wanted the people of Jasper to know that they should be proud of the young men. The fact is they did do it. I hope you are right and everyone would do it. Just wanted yall to know we appreciated it. Good luck this weekend. Those boys went through alot last weekend also. I don't want them to be forgotten.
Very true.  The Jasper players and coaches did take a tough emotional hit also.  For sure nothing like WO-S did, but tough none the less.  Those Jasper boys will not forget that Friday night ever.  I feel sure of that.  Thank you on behalf of Jasper for that recognition and acknowledgement.
