1. Jasper in 3 close games.  Hudson has improved since they hit the playoffs.
Robinson 5 Carthage 2
Robinson ,of course, is the team to beat. I believe that Jasper might be the team that will do it. ;D
Not yet.  A few other teams will demand a say in that.  Jasper's concern right now has to be Lufkin Hudson.

 4.
Hicks retired the side in the top of the first.
Hicks may be educating some Taylor folks about now!
 5. I agree, only players on the field win the games.  No one is guaranteed anything.  Read your press clippings too much and you may well find yourself sitting at home. But the question was asked, what is Jasper's history as if they might be a Johnny Come Lately to baseball.  I merely reported some of the history.  By the way, the son of one of the Jasper 1963 team is the current Jasper coach.  A son of another player on that team used to be the baseball coach at Woodville and won a state championship there just as did the current Jasper coach.  So, does tradition and history count?  I think it certainly can have an effect.
..
...According to you ( Jasper) is a team that has been there and done that many times. Please enlighten me again. Jasper went to the state tournament when and when was they there before? Please give me a history lesson. ...
Jasper history lesson: To the state tournament 6 times:  1961, 63, 72, 78 as 3A; 1985 as 4A, 2007 as 3a Trips to state spaced out, true.  But also true, Jasper does have a solid long-term history in baseball.  Only a handful of 3a teams have been to state six or more times. China Spring, La Grange, Snyder, and Sinton come to mind as having six or more trips to state.  Did I miss any other SE Texas teams?
 7. Congratulations Dogs! Jasper is playing Burnet in a warm up game on Tuesday at College Station A&M, 7:00 p.m.
 8. The most memorable play I saw from Sean was in a bi-district game against Rusk.  There was a Utube video out on this play for a long time.  Sean was playing both ways.  From a receiver spot, he set up in the end zone.  Before the ball even got to him, a Rusk player tackled him.  On the way down he snared the ball with one hand.  Of course, the score counted but amazingly there was no flag on Rusk even though probably just about everyone in the stands recognized the early hit.

 10. Link: [Hidden Content] Apparently there were no Jasper home runs.

 13. Congrats Carthage.  Tough to beat Carthage at Carthage.
 14. Sowell relieved on Friday so it seems reasonable that he will not start at Carthage.
 15.
.... ........ Longest Punt Return 108-David Scott, Jasper vs. Silsbee, 1976 ...
Gonna be hard to improve upon!  I was fortunate to be standing by the end zone where Scott fielded the ball.  What a play to behold!  Scott fielded the ball, just stood there in that very spot until the entire Silsbee team converged on him.  He ran right at a couple Silsbee players, one quick side step and he was off to the other end zone untouched.
 16. Keep taking care of business one game at a time.  :)
