  1. If one keeps picking against a team, the odds are he will eventually be right. ;D
  2. It may be worse than 40 points this time. :'( Silsbee 212 Jasper 8 Since everyone else is just giving Silsbee the game, I might as well too. : 92, this is the most realistic post you have EVER made.
  3. It may be worse than 40 points this time. :'(
  4. Thanks. This was a HUGE win for Jasper. This is the furtherest by far that they have ever advanced to my knowledge. Certainly in the past 50 or so years. Is this the transformative year for Jasper? Don't know, but it IS the coach's second year. I think the team has been transformed just from the time of their first district game with Hudson. Jasper has lost only two games since that time.
  5. Huntsville dominated some folks in their district!
  6. Just heard that since this board has already given the game to Silsbee, Jasper, in an effort to economize, will forfeit a game that is already lost. yep, turned in their uniforms at Huntsville before they got on the bus. > :'(
  7. well, when all those teams play against each other all those games, someone has to lose. Somebody has to have a "bad" record. Look at the scores. Even Hudson had some narrow games against some of these teams, especially Carthage. For example: Hudson 61 Carthage 58 My point is if you took 8 teams identical to Silsbee and/or HJ in the same district, some of them would have to rack up some losses. The rules do not let them play to ties. At least that is the way it has always seemed to me.
  8. Yes, Hudson, Center, Jasper and Huntington, but that is not the order they finished regular district. The finish was: Hudson and Jasper tied for first, Center in third, and Huntington was one game behind Center. If Huntington had taken care of business with Carthage they would have tied with Center for third. Carthage, Rusk, and Diboll all played some VERY close games against the "top four". Here are their records: DISTRICT 18-3A thru FEBRUARY 17 1. Hudson (12-2, 21-6) 1. Jasper (12-2, 24-8) 3. Center (10-4, 23-8) 4. Huntington (9-5, 23-9) 5. Rusk (5-9, 19-13) 6. Carthage (4-10, 9-17) 7. Diboll (4-10, 16-15) 8. Central (0-14) link for more detailed scores: [Hidden Content]
  9. I would say that 18-3a was 7 teams deep. Huntington finished fourth in spite of being state ranked earlier in the year. They put a 20 point whipping on the still playing Hudson. Carthage and Rusk had excellent young teams and gave some of the top teams fits. In fact you used to sing Carthage praises, always picking them to beat Jasper. Diboll also played the top teams close many times. Center finished third but still edged out the highly respected district champion Crockett in the playoffs. btw, no offense toward your third place WOS, but weren't they knocked out of the playoffs in the first round while all of the 18-3a teams are still playing tonight? I think that speaks volumes about the depth of 18-3a.
  10. Jasper went through a war in 18-3a. Some of the games they played against the fourth through seventh place teams were clearly far tougher than the two playoff games they have played against teams from other districts. There was only one "gimme" on the entire district schedule. District 21-3a clearly has two teams stronger than any in 18-3a. But you may not believe this, but there are some folks that think that TOP TO BOTTOM, 18-3a was a tougher district this year than 21-3a. Now THAT ought to get some folks riled up. ;D
  11. I have no idea how the 10.5 margin was computed. However, this I do know. Jasper beat the winner of that district by 9 points. LaVega is the third place team out of that district. That is not very scientific, but I think it is plausible on paper for Jasper to be favored. Unfortunately, the game will not be played on paper.
  12. Tickedoffgranny23,we are just worried about Waco Lavega right now not Silsbee, thanks for the concerned about Spikes and Bailey Why are the Silsbee fans in such a rush to play Those Bulldogs of Jasper. BE CAREFULL FOR WHAT YOU WISH FOR. yeah. i have never laughed so hard and am still laughing. i am not going to name names, but i overheard scouts at one of the Jasper games talking. A scout from one school asked the other whether he wanted to play Hudson or Jasper. Without hesitation he said Jasper. He got his wish, and Jasper took his team to the woodshed.
  13. PAM Huntsville Livingston Coldspring (Silsbee wins, but not by the spread) Hardin-Jefferson Jasper Center New Waverly Newton Spurger
  14. I want to see these games, but have some potential conflicts. Does anyone have the info as to day and times the first games, and final will be played? People are tying to get committments from me. but this Basketball comes first! The UIL site just lists the days, no times or brackets. I tried the Sam Houston site, but they had no info either.
  15. Congratulations Dayton on the win. Go Dogs! You fought those 4a Broncs hard!
  16. I have a hunch that many are taking the Bulldogs too lightly. Haven't seen them play this year but know about Bailey and Spikes. How about depth and heighth? The thread shouldn't have anything to do with Silsbee. Somebody give us some info. on WLV. Thanks because as a Jasper fan we are looking forward to one game at a time Absolutely. Jasper is looking at one game at a time and so far it has worked quite well for them. Silsbee is the least of Jasper's concerns right now. Don't have any info on WLV. Jasper has plenty depth and quickness, but little height. Wondered where you have been Hup!
  17. Hudson wins 55-47 over Fairfield. Jasper 72 Lorena 63 Center 66 Crockett 65 WTG 18-3a! three out of three. There WILL be at least one 18-3a team in the Region III tourney!
  18. Congratulations Hawks! One more step back to Region Tourny!
