Jasper's HC Vacancy..Will Hire Tonight!!!!!!!
j_dog replied to Bulldog92's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
What kind of shape is the program in comparison to when Brooks took over? worse I think brooks couldnt win more than one game in the playoffs The year before Brooks came back, Jasper lost no playoffs games. But, they didn't play any either. -
So you think if he is offered the Jasper job he will turn it down? Follow the money! He will stay at WO-S.
-
For real ?? I expected Jasper to win, but not by such a margin!

***Jasper Coaching Applicants List..March 31 Hiring!!***
j_dog replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I agree. It is an impressive list of names. But, I wonder how many of these people apply for every opening, no matter where it is? Clearly, some of these people, like Toby Foreman for instance, probably are very selective in where they apply. Also Jerry Malone at Marlin. Jasper would do well if they could have a Marlin type record. Some of these folks probably are not looking to move, they are looking for a raise where they are! Good luck to all. -

I think they had some good young players on the varsity. RB Ben Armstrong was only a Soph as I remember. -

Is Jimmy Thompson related to the Thompson who was HC at Newton before Barbay? Won state, then took a job at LCM. -
Ditto. >

What kind of shape is the program in comparison to when Brooks took over? I would think substantially improved. But I am just on the outside looking in. I think Brooks has gotten the number of particpants back up. -

sounds like a true rumor to me. -
Is that what a 3a school can offer nowadays?? Wow! What is going on up there in Center? I will say one thing. A good coach like Alvarez can go in and win just about anywhere there is any talent at all. And clearly Center will have talent. Yes, look what Alvarez did at KV. Look at what Gordon Wood did at Brownwood. Brownwood had NEVER won a district championship. After he went there, winning state became routine.

18-3A Jasper 70, @ Huntington 55 J (20-8, 8-2) H (5-5) PICK: Jasper (-6) Getting time to start taking the little Dogs seriously. Sorry, I missed the margin by three; I undershot by three. And somebody said that the Center game was the beginning of the end for the Dogs. ;D
-
Nope. By more than 11. I think that was the margin the first go round in district. So far, in the second round Jasper has improved their margin against both teams from the first round. To keep that up, Jasper needs at least 12 to keep up their string. Jasper doubled their margin on Carthage, and had a 21 point swing against Hudson. Jasper is playing some really good team basketball right now. Jasper by twelve just to keep the string alive.

*****Brooks resigns as football coach in Jasper*****
j_dog replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Coach Harper The old Coach from Burkville. That what I have been hearing. I think coaching again is the furtherest thing from his mind. i think your sources are way out of line here. He did well at Burkeville didn't he? Won state at least once? Might not be too farfetched if he and Brooks are on the same page. Alvarez has proven himself at KV. Jasper would be fortunate to get him also. Naturally, it will probably be someone we have never heard of. -
I agree. Silsbee should win. But not by double digit margins. Comparing Jasper scores is meaningless. Jasper has improved tremendously since they played Silsbee. Jasper has improved tremendously even since they played Hudson the first time at Hudson. Consider: first game Jasper lost 48-68, second game won 69-68. And yes, #23 is the real deal. Last night if he had not been so good and forced Bailey to the outside, Bailey might have gone in for two and only tied the game instead of lofting a three over 23's head. What a shot, with 23 right on him, Bailey faded away, put a high arch on the ball, and swished it in.

Anybody know anything about New Waverly?
j_dog replied to backdoorcuts's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I have not seen their basketball team, but if they are the same athletes they had at the 7 on 7 football state tournament last summer, they are giants, and athletic to boot. It is no wonder they went to state in basketball last year. -
Jasper shoot really well. Bailey was out of his mind. Good win for Jasper.......J-dog, Do they shoot that well all the time? Number 20 also had some threes. not all the time, just some of the time. last year against HJ, Jasper finally fell to HJ 80-86 after leading most of the game. HJ would make two, Bailey or Spikes would hit a three and that is how it went for the first three qtrs.

No overtime here, Huntington wins this one by 15. Nope, Jasper won by 11, after leading much of the game by 15 to 19 points. Keep picking against Jasper, we like the results! ;D Bailey was on fire tonight! My picks are based on what I have seen from Jasper. A 40 point loss to my Silsbee Tigers makes me think that district 18-3A ain't all that special. : There is nobody as good as Silsbee. It is Silsbee, and then everybody else.

Yes, Bailey put on a show tonight! It seemed he was intercepting passes before they were even thrown. When he is on, he can make anyone look flat. Ask HJ.
-
You got that right. Jasper sure wishes it were back in 21-3a where they only had to play Silsbee and HJ.

BIG SANDY @ JASPER 11-18-08 WHO WILL WIN THIS ONE

RIGHT ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D seriously. those two don't know how to shoot 2's. -
Navasota has some hosses and they won't quit. Jasper learned that first hand last year after having about a 3 TD lead, only to lose to them 40-42. Their big RB Dexter Pratt will have his pick of D1 schools, as well as their WR. Silsbee will be making a mistake if they are thinking that Navasota is coming out of a weak district and will be an easy game. I saw Navasota at state 7 on 7. Yes, they are BIG, and they are fast.
