  1. Just because they have their eyes on him does not mean they can catch him. He is fast, but definitely not faster than sight.
  2. When teams have to defend against Bailey's running and passing, it should open up a lot of opportunities for the RBs.
  3. Curious. How many points did Green and team score against WOS? Bailey threw and ran for 3 TDs, and 21 points total against WOS last year. I think this was the most points given up by WOS in a game all year. And I think that was in Bailey's first or second start at QB. Green is good no doubt, but Bailey is something special also.
  4. Week 1, Kirbyville at Jasper should be just as good.
  5. I doubt that Gilmer is "down". Yes, it is incredible the number of Div I athletes they run through that school. They may have only one offensive "starter" back, but I hear last year's starters only played about half of each game. Gilmer will have plenty of experience on the field, they will be reloading, not rebuilding. But I do believe the Dogs will be ready to feast on some Buckeye!
  6. Those were some of the best players who ever came through Jasper. Listing only five "top" players does an injustice to too many very good players who were on a par with any of the players listed. Now if this was done by decade it would make more sense to me.
  7. This may have nothing to do with anything, but Jasper did make one more round at the state 7 on 7 this week than Carthage. And Jasper also managed to beat tourny favorite Brownwood and its Div I loaded team. No question, Carthage will be good. But Jasper will have its chances.
  8. I know I say that to myself every morning when I wake up and look in the mirror ;D u dun outdid ursef now!
  9. Congratulations Dogs! You got in five games against some of the best players in Texas. It will have to help you this Fall. It was awesome getting to see so much talent in one place, and in just two days!
  10. And not a one of these made it to the finals. Incredibly, 2a New Waverly took out Celina, and New Waverly was a last minute addition to the field. NW was awesome however, had height AND speed.
  11. JASPER ACTUALLY WON 55-26 SPIKES AND BAILEY CONNECTED WELL TODAY Yes, I don't understand how they goofed up the score. They also had the wrong score posted on the big board at the field. Jasper scored every time they had the ball, and stopped Iraan several times.
  12. Early rankings only put a target on your back. Jasper should be thankful that they now have the opportunity to fly under the radar. The ONLY poll that counts is conducted on the playing field. 8)
  13. How has WOS been doing in 7 on 7? I am surprised they have not already nailed down a spot?
  14. Somewhere. It is wonderful to have options! The brutal truth is that few of those drafted generally make it to the majors. But I figure Malcolm has as good a chance as most.
  15. But his career might be longer in baseball, thereby eventually earning similar money. Ultimately, he needs to go with his deepest passion, whichever that is.
  16. A big question is how much he would be paid. If not enough to more than fund college later, pass on it!
  17. I would bet money that IF they listed the highest total two game scores, Jasper would lead since they have the single best at 14, and had an 11 run game to go with it. Maybe if someone has friends at the UIL ... ;D
  18. He has a tough decision to make. If he goes to McNeese he will probably play DB under his uncle (one of their defensive coaches), who played DB eight years for the 49ers. I think, bottom line, is that he loves both sports. My guess is that he leans toward baseball though. As I understand it, he could try professional baseball, and if that does not work could still come back and do college football. I remember A&M once had a QB who did just that. I think his name was Murray.
  19. does this mean I did not have my wires crossed? ;D You are most correct, my son straightened me out on that one Thanks. You had me worried there for a minute. No, he already had a full ride to A&M. He had no pressure to sign. His and his families position was clear. He had to be made financially secure, or he went to college. He is from a family with a college background, so college was their first priority. If the whole story were known, I would not be surprised if there is substantially more money contracted to come after the signing bonus of $925,000.
  20. Congrats Malcolm. Now j_dog, I think stating he has world class speed is a bit over the top, don't you think? He has great speed, not world class. Now we will never know will we? He did not run track. But some of his relatives who did run track were world class, without question. A cousin, and an uncle were on the first hs 400m relay to go under 40 seconds (hand held). And that national record lasted for six years. And the cousin ran in the Atlanta Olympics in the hurdles. I have watched Malcolm run bases for three years. And I have seen him do some amazing things. Just an opinion true, but no, I really do not think it is over the top. But perhaps you are right. He is still a winner.
