  1. No, my mistake. I just checked last year's progam. > Thank you for checking it out.
  2. does this mean I did not have my wires crossed? ;D
  3. Very good! Congratulations Bronson! Pure raw skill, just waiting to be molded. Bronson has something that cannot be taught, world class speed and quick reflexes. Plus he is a good person to boot. Hard to find all these qualities in the same person.
  4. If he was projected to go in the first rnd someone would have picked him up before the fifth, and no way he's taken in the 5th and get 1st rnd $$, I dont think even Scott Boras could get 1st rnd money for a player taken in the 3rd much less the 5th. Someones got their wires crossed on this story no dought. You can look up what exactly he signed for on the web, I cant remember what site but its for sure there, mite check Baseball America. Is this the guy [Hidden Content] That's the guy. I don't know. Is a Signing Bonus of $925,000 "normal" for the fifth round? He reportedly throws in the mid-nineties.
  5. Having a college scholarship lined up enters into drafting decisions at least for some. Last year LE had a player projected to be drafted early in the first round. His mother told me that Boston called them before their pick in each round asking for a commitment to sign. Each time they refused to commit. Finally, in the fifth round, Boston drafted him anyway. He eventually signed. Boston must have come up with the big bucks they were talking.
  6. We were watching the records last year. Are these all the Jasper notes? For 2007, I think Jasper also scored the most runs for a tournament at 25 runs. They were already on the list of most appearances at state. Their stolen base production should have placed them second on the all-time 3a list. Maybe there were other categories? Just curious.
  7. I liked the third place playoff when they had it. It gave the first round losers another shot to leave Austin on a positive note.
  8. Also congratulations to Hart and Bronson for making the Beaumont Umpires All-Star team.
  9. He certainly has been being scouted for some reason. Being scouted is no guarantee of being drafted, but I would like to think he has a chance... But the fact that he has signed a college football scholarship may work against him.
  10. Win or lose, both teams win from having the tough competition.
  11. Well, I made it there for the last inning! Was enjoying the party too much! ;D Congratulations Buna.
  12. Congrats WS. Man, those Hwy 96 teams are TOUGH!!!
  13. Buna, way to go! Now bring that state championship back to Jasper County! 8)
  14. Hopefully I will be able to make if for most of game 2 tomorrow.
  15. Congratulations Buna! But did you have to give us near heart attacks?
  16. Sam wins in Houston in some huge upsets. They are hot also right now. Did you see what they did to Lamar? Sam has already split one run games with Rice. Now is the time to see if Sam can play on the big stage.
  17. But with some good Soph starting players returning as juniors. Ty Parker at catcher, Tyler Ernest probably moving from second back to short, Parker Phillips at third, (and possibly pitching), and Sam Alvis in outfield, presumably moving from LF to center. There are more good young ones of course, but these were starters on the varsity this year. The key to Jasper success in 09 will be how well the young pitchers perform. Is Sam Alvis some distant relative of Max Alvis'? not distant at all. grandson.

  19. ... Locals in the regionals: .... At the Houston regional, hosted by Rice, Braeden Riley (Woodville) will represent our local Southland Conference for Sam Houston State. Braeden is .241-0-14 with 20 starts this year for the Bearkats. PNG grad Zac Harwood represents Rice. Harwood is 0-0 in limited action (2 appearances, 1 IP). .... I understand that Braeden Riley, a freshman, is the only Bearkat starter batting under 300. And he will get that average up in time. Go Kats! Upset the BIG BOYS!
  20. It is my understanding that all games are at Round Rock, EXCEPT for 3a which is at Disch Falk.
  21. no i dont think so like its been said, this was an off the field issue from what i understand as many as said, this is an internal BC matter. don't you just hate these personnel issues! now coach is too damaged to "coach", but still ok to be "reassigned". ??? of course, we don't know the real issues, and probably never will. and that is probably best. Good wishes to BC in sorting this out.
  22. game over, Hutto wins 8-0 Congrats Hippos. Dogs, you had a great season! and a great two year run.
