  1. Jasper winning is not a given, but the playoff experience from last year should now begin to kick in. In fact, I think it did last night, Jasper winning 19-2 in just 4 innings at bat. Yeah i dont know how they would have beat WOS without that playoff experience! Jasper most likely would have won, but they might not have averaged almost 5 runs an inning.
  2. Where were you when BC pulled everyone in to protect against his bunt in the first game at QF (I think it was the first game), and he blasted a triple off the wall? Actually, I don't think he did that much bunting once district was over. Last year the team role he was given was to lay down bunts and advance Hart. He did that unselfishly. This year he was moved to the third spot and obviously given the green light to swing away.
  3. I read that he is going to McNeese to play both football AND baseball. In the end, he surely will go with whichever gives him the best pro prospects, if any. My guess is that probably will be baseball.
  4. Who was Jasper playin when the scouts came? From the stats, must have been the HF game.
  5. Not quite like last year. I think 22-3a has something a little different to offer this year. So don't start talking til after Bi-District....if we even see you there. True. No need to talk unless two 21-3a teams meet again in the QF. Then we can talk a little bit. There are plenty good teams out there, and if the ball bounces their way, they will beat you.
  6. Its Derrick sowell. Thank you! You know how those announcers are. Said the first name once, then last name only.

  8. Correct. The "playoffs" have begun! It is do or die for Jasper, HJ and Silsbee.
  9. Jasper wins. Has to, backs are to the wall with those two consecutive losses. >
  10. Didn't know that colleges had the ten run rule. Well, it may be better for Lamar on Saturday and Sunday. Sam seldom keeps that up for a whole series.
  11. huh ??? Sam was winning because they were pounding the ball with bats, not listening devices. : Go Sam!
  12. I think it should be: 6....Jasper.......Lost to HF 14-12 , not 14-2 it was bad enough without dropping ten runs. >
  13. Exactly. And since he played football, he missed the offseason preparation that the "baseball only" guys got. By the way, were the scouts there to scout Bronson only, or perhaps Bronson and others? Speaking of scouts, back in 1964 when Phil Hennigan was pitching so well for Jasper, the scouts came regularly. We could easily tell who they were. They dressed funny and talked funny. Some of them even wore TIES to the games. ;D Other than the ties, it was a dead give away when they could not pronounce "DuBose Inn".
  14. Congratulations HJ. Now Jasper knows who it needs to beat in the last three games. Everybody!
  15. Sowell is a Soph. Struck out four in a row, two out, now two on, last on base hit. Fly out, game over, and Jasper pitching is RESTED for next week. jasper final 19-2, ten run rule.
  16. bottom of 4th, Jasper 16-2 Sowell walked first batter, struck out the next two, catcher threw out the runner attempting to steal. Good start for the lefty!
  17. For Jasper, Cord Yates starting pitcher. Now relieved by Eric Sowell I think it is. Brought up from JV. Lefty. First varsity experience. I had heard Jasper had some good pitchers down on JV.
  18. end of 3rd, Jasper 16-2 Those Dogs must be mad!
  19. end of 2, Jasper 4-0 Bronson triple drives in Hart.
