Just guessing. Maybe 5-9, or 5-10. But as you can see, his power is out of all proportion to his size.

likewise Jasper? and every other 21-3a team? We saw what happened last year when a 21-3a rep got to play the "state powers" from the other regions. -
But he catches like one. That last BC game he looked horrible in the field.......IMO That seems to be his only knock, his fielding and not an accurate arm, but strong though. But, that's what the minor leagues are for, to teach you those things at the professional level. It's all about the potential with this player. True. One thing to remember, for whatever may have been the reason, he has not had much actual playing time in the field. Offensively, he is a senior, defensively he is basically a first year player. In his sophmore season, he seemed to mostly be used as a pinch runner, at least in the games I saw. Last year, he was the DH. He surely will get better in time defensively with some playing time. And he has something going for him that all the teaching in the world cannot give anyone: world class speed. And if he does not go pro in baseball, there is always football. His uncle in high school did not receive the publicity his cousins did, yet he was good enough to start 8 seasons in the NFL.

Yes, he signed with McNeese to play football and baseball. The most spectacular thing I ever saw him do was against BC last year. He bunted, and was standing on first before BC defense could even pick up the baseball in front of the plate. I am happy to see that he is getting some notice this year. I think he may have been "under the radar" last year.

Wasn't there some hurdle and track stars named Bronson that came out of Jasper ? If so, is a brother, cousin, etc. ? Bronsons. Where to start? Yes, one cousin excelled at track, helped Jasper to a state championship, ran in the 96 Olympics. Another cousin excelled at QB, played a bit for Indianapolis Colts, then for the Houston Arena team. His uncle also ran track with the track cousin, and played 8 years as a DB for 49'ers. I probably have missed some more, but that is a start on the Bronsons. Actually, I think there were four Bronsons on Jasper's 07 football team. J_Dog, Is Jasper ever going to get any speed? ;D ;D ;D You know the only school with speed is WOS...... ;D ;D We're working on it.

What a quandry for the opposing coach! He can pitch to him, and maybe give up a HR. He can walk him, and watch him steal second and third. What's a coach to do? ???

What kind of injury does stephenson have? Don't know, but I read they are hoping to have him back for the playoffs. I think he has played regularly, just has not been pitching. -

Then don't "criticize a coach"....he is anything but irresponsible.... He knows what he is doing & would never put a kid in jeopardy....he is a great coach and knows more about his players than we do... He is a great coach. If he were irresponsible, he would have pitched the injured Stephenson. -

It is all in how you pitch, and in your capabilities. Years ago, (many years ago), Jasper had a pitcher who his senior year pitched almost every game. Twice a week, every week. His record for the year, was an astounding 18 and 3 as I remember. Oh yeah, it really, really hurt him. After pitching one year of college ball and five years of MLB for the Cleveland Indians, he was finished. He could throw probably in the mid 90's, but that year he threw a lot of junk to pace himself. Batters knew he could bring smoke at any moment so they had to prepare for anything. Name please. Phil Hennigan, high school 1960-64. Notable high school accomplishments. Youngest player (at the time anyway) to ever win a game at state (15 years old, freshman), first (and maybe only) pitcher to throw a no-hitter at state and lose (1963), junior year, beat a skinny kid named Nolan Ryan 1-0 in the playoffs. -

Repeating myself, but last year the coaches mostly had him bunting and using his speed. Now they don't bother with that, obviously. He is a winner!

Clearly, Jasper is not number one. It is underdog status for the Dogs from here on out. -

Congratulations HF. It reads like you earned this one. Dogs, be humble. This proves anything can happen on a given night, but this also will only make you stronger in the long run. Now, go win out or you will be fighting for third place. -

The biggest thing for Jasper right now is whether Stephenson can come back 100 percent. If he can, that will make an enormous difference down the playoff road, just like it did last year. Jasper can take their game to another whole level with him on the mound, and Jasper has been doing pretty good without him on the mound. -

Im just saying Jaspers run this year in the playoffs will be very tuff. They will end up having to play Needville or Sweey in the second round and possibly a much stronger Hudson team so i just believe it won't happen IMO. But if they make it out alive and to the regional finals they would have proven alot............. Jasper has already handled Hudson once this year. 15-0 or so, and ten run rule as I remember. similar to the their last playoff game together last year. but that means nothing if the two teams meet again. -
I think it will be in a few weeks.. ;D or perhaps vice versa. ;D ;D yea since BC beat them twice No lying about it, I would have preferred that my Dogs had won either, or both games. But the focus they now must have for the rest of the season should be invaluable to them. And no doubt about it, it is invaluable to both teams to play each other in district. Clearly, last year it helped make both teams better last year since both teams survived to the QF against some very tough Region III teams.

Congratulations BC. Looks like you will be the district champions, barring some unexpected melt down. -
I just looked at a weather forecast. Looked like 100 percent chance of rain Friday. Has there been any consideration to move the game to tonight? Or to Saturday?

BC, congratulations on another big win. See you Friday! I agree, it should be the game of the week in the state for 3a. No hype needed. -

It is the FIRST time that I have heard of. Last year was his first time to be thrown out in high school, and that was on an attempt on home. (He made the other attempt on home that night). -
