Are they leaving a lot of runners on base? It seems this game is taking a lot of time, especially for a somewhat low scoring game.

Malcom Bronson hit another homerun for Jasper today against WOS, plus a triple and two doubles.

How about that Malcolm Bronson! A homerun, a triple, and two doubles. He might have hit for the circuit if he were not so fast. The first double was in reality a single up the middle for average folks. But the WOS CF played it casually perhaps like for a normal runner, and Bronson just zipped on to second when he saw that it was a soft throw back to the infield. At least that is a paraphrasing of what I heard from the Jasper announcer.

17-6, wos changing pitchers, sixth. Have to leave. Someone else please take over.

Jasper now batting. I was away for a few minutes. Now 13-6. triple by Bronson. (speed kills)

For sure, Jasper wins because they play as a team. And, judging from the stands, no one is more unselfish in his play than Bronson. Obviously, he can bang the ball out of the park with the best of them. But when the situation calls for a bunt, he lays down the bunt. What does not show up in the stats is how hard an out he can be. In many of the playoff games last year it seemed he would often foul off 3, 4, 5, and more third strike pitches. Eventually, he would get a ball he could hit, or they would walk him. And after you walk him, well that is another story .......

Congratulations Dogs! I FINALLY got the game on KJAS by going to my wife's laptop. : Now if I can ever get it on my machine. An astounding thing to me. After all the talk on one thread about speed (particularly HF vs. Jasper), Bronson, one of Jasper's fastest players hit a grand slam to win the game. And from what I heard on the radio, it was no ordinary homer, but went way out of the park and INTO A STRONG WIND. How about that for running the bases?

What you described is exactly what Jasper so tough last year. They didn't stand out they just got the job done. It does appear they are off to a "slow" start. Meanwhile, it seems Hicks reputation grows with each game he pitches. Hope to get to see him pitch again this year. Yes, if you consider a 12-2 record a slow start, then Jasper is off to a slow start.
