True, the right break here and there the Jasper 86 and 87 teams could have won state. But that could truthfully be said about several different Jasper teams. I think the 83-84 teams should be in the discussion. Speed, speed, speed. Few teams would even kick deep to Tony Allen and Reggie Davis because it would be an almost automatic TD. They were that good. It took Thurman Thomas and Willowridge to put the 84 team to the sidelines by a 10-6 score. And the 90 team that WOS beat 7-6 sent three players to the NFL. One to the practice squad, for perhaps a year, one for five years, and one for eight years with the 49ers. And that team did not even get out of district. A one point loss to WOS and a 3 point loss to PNG left Jasper at home.

Maybe not "ever", but definitely best in years, imo.

I for sure hope Hunt will be at 100 percent and plays. But if he were to play when not ready, he could get an injury that could keep him from playing forever. Not worth it just to try to win this game. I am confident that the Jasper coaches will make the proper decision.

Forecast for Thursday does appear to be free of rain or cold. Vs rain forecast for both Friday and Saturday. So Thursday may really be a consideration by both coaches. Selfishly I would like to have the game on Thursday. Then I could go to the Silsbee game on Friday.

I don't think Jasper fans are "crying" about the injuries except for the injured player's feelings. Injuries are part of the game. But it is just being realistic that if a team loses a player that had over 350 yards in the first game it impacts your chances of winning. Even so I believe Jasper will still be competitive. But I do expect a lower scoring game.

Jasper played LCM in Nacitoches I think it was many years ago while Walkoviac was at Jasper. So it definitely can be done.

So true. Much better to have a close game and advance than to have a close game and lose. For almost three quarters WOS got its own wake up call. Actually good for both teams going forward. There will be no more easy games.
