  1. and the qb they used last week apparently was even more impressive. maybe ya'll lucky you didn't get to see him. ;D
  2. It has already been tried. Jasper started the game against Kirbyville under center. After very little success moving the ball, they went back to the shotgun for most of the remainder of the game.
  3. New Caney is one of the few teams I have seen this year. BH running away.
  4. Jasper 24 to 0, Second half about to start.
  5. Stubblefield is on the injured list. I think this may be Dominique Bailey's first time to start at QB ?? Good move. Put the premium speed at QB.
  6. It seems to me that folks said similar things before Walkoviak arrived in 1977. The key mantra then was that Jasper did not have enough athletes to play two platoon ball. Walkoviak changed that in his very first year at Jasper, and never looked back for 20 years. Don't good coaches design their program to win with what they have? Look at Liberty Hill. They have running backs running 4.7 forties who just run it down your throat. And they win, win, win. Year after year. I am encouraged that Brooks seems to be working to get the team numbers up. Hopefully by next year we will see some positive results.
  7. Coaching. Period. Don't think the talent level has fallen much, if any. The enrollment has declined only slightly from the Walkoviak days when few 5a teams could handle Jasper. Coaching.... Coaching.... Coaching.... Coaching.... The more time that passes the more obvious it becomes how fortunate Jasper was to have had Walkoviak for those 20 years. Folks who remember the 20 years BEFORE Walkoviak already knew that however. Now, he is in Newton helping Barbay continue to build power houses. Nuff said.
  8. I didn't think Jasper would have much trouble last year, and was I ever wrong! Jasper by one.
  9. me too, except when it is my Dogs doing the losing! but Jasper only played 11 at a time. Good luck KV against WOS. But WOS is a special hurdle to overcome. They just don't seem to know how to lose.
  10. QUIT OVERSTATING YOUR WEIGHT NOW! :
  11. for sure, those two guys put the hurt on folks! Oliver had rather run over and through you than around you!
  12. and you played defense? ;D something wrong here! ;D ???
  13. it was closer the next year at Pasadena, Jasper losing 6-10 after a controversial end zone call denied Jasper the winning TD. Willowridge was ranked 5th in the nation going into that game. The next week, Bay City blew Willowridge off the map, something like 40-0 and went on to win state. Go figure.
  14. yeah, had a blind ref. if he had sight, he could have seen that Moye was IN THE END ZONE before he fumbled. ;D but true, they would have scored more in some games if they could have scored at will.
  15. Frankly, at this moment, I would be delighted with a one point victory to get things headed in the right direction for Jasper. >
  16. ole Bark himself. ;D
  17. ya sayin we'er savin our super stars for wos and silsbee ?? sonds lke a gud stratge! ;D
  18. Yes, at least the upset of the decade.
  19. Yeah, any coach who will send the runners home 4 times in one game will try anything. And three times they scored! I figure a 750 percentage on stealing home is not too shabby. There may be players on other teams faster than Bronson or Hart, but I did not see ANY of them doing what Bronson or Hart did last year. And the players down the Jasper batting order are not exactly slow either.
  20. Next week everybody starts over at 0-0. ;D
  21. it is very hard to defense LH, year in and year out.
  22. you think Newton will be able to beat Cartage by a bigger margin than did Kirbyville?
  23. GIANTS. One is at least 6-8 I hear.
