The last time Jasper went 2-8 they rebounded to the outright district championship the next year. Now winning the championship this year would be a GIANT step, but finishing in the top 3 to make the playoffs, not so big a climb.

Jasper proved size does not matter at the state tournament. Physically, they appeared by far to have the the smallest athletes of any of the four 3a teams. From the looks of some of the teams you would have thought they were playing a college or professional team. The LE shortstop was 6-4 for goodness sakes. And the pitcher they started against Jasper appeared to be almost as tall. Yet we now know what the Dogs did with their little guys. However, it is a fact of life that there is a prejudice against the smaller players. >

I know how you feel. I used to think three teams were too many, until Jasper finished third in district, then made it to the state finals. ;D Now, I don't care. After the first round most of the weak teams are gone anyway. And by the end of the second round, if they are still around maybe they deserve to be there.

Because these selections have nothing to do with the tournament and because Jasper flew in under the radar. I expect it will be different next year when players like Parsons, Hart, and Bronson are seniors and when Jasper will be watched closely as defending state champions.

I agree completely. BC played Jasper closer in every game than either of those two teams did.

I think the speed is more about the gene pool than the water pool. Seriously, if we had told you about the speed you would not have believed it. But seeing it first hand is believing. Yes, there is some serious speed there. Depending on who was counting Jasper had at least 16 stolen bases for the two games at state and had only one runner thrown out. One fan from another district school said that Jasper's baseball team could have beaten their track team in a race. And, obviously, the Jasper coach is not afraid to use the speed. Well, good luck to LE next year. You are quite the man to come by for your crow. Hope Broadcaster did you a good job. ;D

That is incredible with all the talent BC had. This year it was Sinton odd man out. Wylie got one player, and LE two.

And from what I heard at RR from folks from other areas, BC had the best team. Just didn't win. I think they must have gone heavily on batting averages at the tournament. Otherwise, how do you pass over Will Middlebrooks who was drafted in the fifth round ? ??? He pitched a good game against Sinton. And he played a good game at short, but had no hits and got one walk. But, then so did Parsons pitch a good game against Wylie.

WOW! Did Jasper get noticed or what!!! Are the stats etc posted at UIL? I expect some of the Jasper hitters will have their name added to the all time high list.
