Ok, now if that type of comment was made about Crosby you would be up in arms. So don't.
My comment was made about Crosby. It was also there for 3 days and viewed by other admins and moderators without being edited. SMH.

I hope GCM can fill up stallworth it would be nice if Baytown cared about football. However sadly this isn’t the case. Only 2,000 people out of 80,000 voted on the bond issue. Baytown just doesn’t care about the schools, or sports. Again I wish it wasn’t this way but that is all I have ever seen. The only sold out game I have seen was RSS vs lee for the 50th anniversary game.

Former Crosby and Sam Houston State player Hunter Hearn has been drafted by the Phillies.

You’re missing my point. Freeman may have been offered the opportunity to stay by the AD, but the AD isn’t why Freeman made that decision.
You are correct.

Wow, powers that be must have realized how much pull he has in the community and on the kids and convinced him to stay. You think that is something they should have considered during the hiring process.....
Exactly.

I stand corrected. Yes, Freeman is staying now.

Not that I have heard. I’m not sure how that got started.

Well, today with the loss of Coach Freeman Crosby's football program has officially reached joke status. Don't be surprised if you start to see some of the better athletes move away or just decide not to play for a puppet and .500 records start to be the norm. The previous ties Coach Prieto had with the supt. far outweighed his actual ability to coach which is why he got the job, that and his willingness to probably be the lowest paid coach in the district. Of course no supt. wants to lose but after Crosby goes 3-7 next year absolutely nothing will change because the excuse he'll have is that we can't afford to hire anybody, not that, "I came from a little backwoods town where I thought Joel Hancock would be a good hire so trust me on this one." The record will be better in 2020 because he'll schedule the same type trash he used to play in Corpus so that him and the supt will have improvement they can point to to tamp down the restlessness on the community. Look for Galena Park type schools to be on the schedule. Crosby's football program will effectively be a non-factor while the current supt. is in place and especially putrid while Coach Prieto is here, probably to the point where the season we missed the playoffs for the first time in 15 years is the highlight. Only hope for the foreseeable future is that Crosby can out-talent enough people to finish in fourth. I would be remised if I didn't point out that Crosby fired Kevin Flannigan with about a .700 record over his last 7 years with the team and 7 consecutive playoff appearances. With the trajectory Crosby is on and the yahoo we just hired look for us to digress to HISD level bad in everything except baseball and maybe girls softball.
P.S. - I thought it was interesting from an impact standpoint which Rio left that one of the first things kids mentioned about the new coach is that they don't pray in the team huddle anymore.
You might need to edit this and say bad at everything except girls softball. The baseball team is already bad and going to miss the playoffs again.

It seems like Crosby will be pretty much starting completely over with coaches. Just saw where they let another really good one get away from them as Coach Freeman is moving on to be Asst. Head Football coach of CE King. This guy graduated from Crosby High and has coached here for 9 years. For him to decide to leave his home town it had to be hard. It also reiterates how bad the situation is between the administration, school board, and the teachers and coaches. Again, I think the school board and previous administration should be held accountable for all their actions. Even the ones that didn’t vote for the excessive spending going on were present and watched the situation unfold. I would love to see them all prosecuted. Coach Freeman has been a staple in the community and school district. I wish him well and good luck.

The board officially announced Jerry Preito.

Trump is coming to Crosby Wednesday. Maybe the school board can hit him up for a loan to hire someone good.

Isn't the OC his brother?
Or, is he just on the staff?
“Rio2”, as he is called, was listed as the RB coach. I would think he would go with Rio. The OC is listed as Freeman, who I would really like to see get a chance. Crosby does have an Asst. AD (Coker) that you would think they would consider also. But who knows what the current Board and Administration will do. Their decision-making abilities of late is HIGHLY questionable.

It is. On a related note, Tepper tweeted that he had heard rumblings about this for about a week. I informed him that the "rumblings" had been happening for much longer than that.
Lol. Yea, much longer. Like right after the first of the year.

Thanks for the update, but it's really not breaking news. Maybe just making it official. Hopefully Crosby doesn't wait long on naming their new head coach.

Let me clue you in on some of your information. The upgrade of facilities had already started. The funding for the score board was already in the works with Flanigan. There was always a charge to upgrade facilities! There was a vote on a bond to upgrade facilities which was shot down by the community. So administration (Dr. Moore) proposed a new school with renovations in the bond. THE COMMUNITY PASSED IT; barley in fact.
Now every coach wants to change the culture to his own staple; hence Code Red, (which is Code Blue at Sulphur Springs). All coaches work on kids to buy into their program. However, in this case Rio did not take over a dying program and turn it around. It was already successful; so easier buy in for the kids.
And your right. When Rio goes so does code red. Just like every school that is losing their AD they lose what the program under Rio was pushing. Change is coming but it does not necessarily mean that it is bad. Crosby had a winning tradition before he got there. Understand before Rio got the job, there was a line of community members at the board meeting trying to keep Flanigan. So again, change is not always bad. It is sad to see how the ethics of a few can change a school atmosphere however this is a good job for someone. Crosby is a great community that shows it support for their own. They have athletes that love to buy in.
I wish Coach Rio nothing but the best and hopefully he can make an impact at Chapel Hill.
Your not going to be able to explain anything to 2wedge. He stated in another thread he was “calling BS on Rio going to Chapel Hill”, even though it’s clear he is by the timing and what he has actually told some. 2wedge already knows everything about Crosby, or so he thinks he does.

Yeah, but at that time, Crosby was full of potential and lacking in expectation. Rio led the charge on the facilities upgrade, the culture change, and the many many kids who have gone on to play at the next level. Now, you are looking for someone to come in and keep that culture and expectation high and no one will be able to deliver like Rio did. Add that to the financial difficulties which will make this a mediocre paying gig........it's going to be bad.
When Rio goes, so does code red. All of that tradition goes out the door with him.
I’m hoping they don’t bring a new guy in. I hope Coach Freeman applies for the job. He’s been on Rio’s staff from the beginning and helped bring a lot of those winning teams up when he began at the Junior High level. He has currently been the Varsity RB coach and has developed a lot of talent at that position.

Really good game ! I was impressed with the Canadian QB, he's a serious gamer. And the Canadian defense was Flying to the ball.
