PNG JV 26 Texas City JV 7

Great Job NDN'S !  Good win !  The first half the O had some probs getting the running game going. The second half it dominated. I think Bertrand realized he could run hard and trust his O line. Nothing to dish on anyone. Just my thought. Doty looked great. The D secondary looked better this week than against GP. Good Job D !  Merka is a very good QB. He will be a possible highlite QB on Saturdays. Great game Great fans !

The Freshmen teams lost. The JV took the Crosby JV to the woodshed last night ! The JV Defense had a shut out. The only score for Crosby was on a kick off return. It should have been called back due to 6 penalities that the refs didn't call. One was a bad block in the back that left one of our boys on the field. The others were pretty much the same. Also its questionable if their runner stepped out of bounds as well. The refs last night were terrible. They were slow and really couldn't run with the plays. The JV offense was very impressive with numerous long runs up the gut and some good pass plays. The D caused I think 1 or 2 turnovers and recoveries. The score could have easily been  42 to 0. We had on td called back and we had a interception on the 1 yard line. The JV secondary was stout as well as the whole D group. The players that rotated in didn't miss a beat on either side of the ball. On the O side, I think we used 4 different running backs. It was a very good game and PNG controlled the entire game in my view. This JV team so far is very exciting to watch and very well coached.

I feel this game and the decision that the coach made on the 4th and inches has been hashed way and beyond what is necessary. Its a learning decision from that point on. I feel this whole topic needs to be done and over with. No one can go back and change what happened. Its the past. For us PNG fans we need to focus on this weeks game and not try and relive the GP game. We need to look forward to taking it to Crosby ! So lets move on !

Its fun, but it only takes one or two bad apples to spoil the bunch !  Back to topic:  How is Crosby's Defense this year ?  How about receivers this year ? I was at PNG's practice yesterday. Talk about some intense hard work going on ! Those boys worked themselves hard. Coaches ran them relentlessly. They worked the D secondary what seemed like all practice as well. Coach said they would be the hardest working team in the state. They practiced for about 3 hours. I know they didn't get to practice Monday due to lightening and rain. Guess they made up for it yesterday. All I can say is watch out Crosby, the NDN's are on the WAR PATH ! 

PNG Supporter here. Honestly I thought that Gregory Portland would have bumped into the top 25. Just my thought.

Did you know that each team was given the same allotment of tickets? [/quote] Alot of times the schools have to return the unsold tickets a day before the game so they can be sold at the ticket booths. So no we didnt take all your tickets last year. From what i remember on the Brenham side you could have laid down on the bleachers and still had more than enough room. Don't be so envious of the fan following that PNG has. Also Nederland has a hugh fan following. Why not go start some trash with them as well. Besides I feel your living in the past. This is a new season and anything could happen. Injuries, floods, hurricanes etc That could affect anyones season. If you really want to trash talk then go to your next opponents website and trash talk there. The possibility of PNG and Brenham meeting again is still months away. When that time comes then come on back and toot your little horn !

Maybe DC told them to let em play and keep the yellow in their pockets more than on the field. Who knows. This game is water under the bridge now. The NDN's are focusing on Crosby.

[/quote] I agree  with your statements. I would like to have seen the O run the ball more and wear down  GP defense. I think we did get some decent pressure on the QB alot. I feel with the next 2 pre-season games the secondary and linebackers will improve tremendously. The secondary may have some changes but who knows. I trust in the coaches and their abilities.

Yep they got stunned. I'm thinking some of the JV D backs may be working out with the varsity Secondary this week. The JV has some tall and very fast D backs. They kept up with PAM JV receivers in their game. Just a thought going thru my head. First game for the varsity, so some kinks to work out and some adjustments. That's pretty much how it will go with any team after their first game or two. You move folks around and discover which position is best suited for players. PNG should come out stomping mad and really show the rest of the state that they are for real !

PNGHS was evacuated earlier today and classes were eventually cancelled due to a major gas leak at the school. I got a call around 1:30 today from my son to come pick him up because classes were cancelled due to a gas leak.  He said that the football team will be practicing later today.

Yeah that would be awesome to have several SETX teams play on one day in the same local. Nederland and PNG use to play at Reliant. Brenham and LaMarque. We would rotate each year. If they brought back Nederland they would have some serious turnout with fans !

They sure its gonna be ready for football come Friday Night ? By there this weekend and it looks like alot left to complete.

I was very impressed with Memorials team this year. I think the coaches their need to work on the boys not holding receivers so much, it could be one of those holding penalties that could cost them a game. PAM's offense is good. Very fast ! good passing game. Ya'll have some great size on your team this year as well. Ya'll are gonna be just fine in your District and the playoff's, hopefully no injuries. PNG was very vanilla basic. It was a good scrimmage to get our feet wet again and knock some more rust off. I'm sure PNG will be in stride come Saturday at the Dome. Good Luck PAM on your season ! I liked your new turf it looks very nice.

I think a better decision can be made after our scrimmage with PAM this Friday. It will show alot more than what we have all seen in practice. OF course I want the Tribe to win !!!! GO NDN'S !!!!!

::)Its way to early in the season to predict a winner between these 2 teams. Heck no one has even scrimmaged yet. Sounds like LCM has a solid team returning as does PNG. Should make for a great game. So how many fair weather fans will LCM bring this year ? My wife is a LCM grad but...... now bleeds purple. Guess she got to PNG territory as fast as she could. One of the smart ones !!!! HE HE !!!! She supports the bears but goes crazy for PNG when we play LCM !!!!

PNG: Westbrook         PAM         Friendswood, Dayton, Brenham, WOS. Not in any particular order, but would be a great non-district schedule and a great warm up for district.

Any updates on other games ?  Crosby game, Angleton & Brenham etc...

Coach plays the best players for each position regardless of the grade they are in.
