Central vs. Memorial Week 0 Predictions?
pngfan66 replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I think central by a TD in this one. -
PAM needs a Head Coach, not a Head Cheerleader......

And how do you come by this statement ? -
I agree. MHS #18 was the better threat of their two QB's. Of course we only saw him against the 2nd team, but he was elusive. Hated to see the kid carted off the field for the Titans in a scrimmage. Hope he recovers well. Heard his leg was broken. I hate to see that happen to anyone. I hope he recovers quickly. Prayers goin out for him.

Regarding the Freshmen. The Freshmen A team were moving the ball very well. Then the scrimmage was post poned. When they resumed, the A team played maybe 8 downs and moved the ball and got down to the end zone and it was called back. PAM has a huge Freshmen team ! PAM scored all their TD's with their 1st string in and PNG's 2nd string team in. So I wouldn't go as far as saying that PNG's freshmen team is terrible. They hung right in there with PAM starters. The coaches rotated the A team and the B team in alot, But seemed to run the B team more than the A team. PNG'S JV Starters did very well against PAM. JV Defense was laying down some hard hits. I would say that overall both the Freshmen and JV played extremely conservative. They seemed to run about 8 plays in a rotation. Varsity offense will be just fine. I think they ran about 10 common plays during the whole scrimmage and moved the ball very well. The Varsity D needs some work, but they really didnt run any stunts or alot of blitz's. I think Faircloth is going cloak and dagger for everyone and so as not to expose his hand ! Tonight was more like a friday night game. About 5,000 fans there with the band playing cherokee and the cheerleaders cheering etc... Was great and can't wait till next friday when Barbers Hill comes to the REZ !!! Lots of scouting coaches moving around the stadium tonight as well. Barbers Hill, Nederland, and a few others. Good Scrimmage and a great time even with the delays !!!

PNG followd by Silsbee's stadium. Outside the area I would have to do with Galena park stadium, and I heard Huffman's new stadium is very nice as well. Huffman's old stadium stands were very small and crowded.

As I posted in the spring, this may be the biggest line PNG has ever had. Lunceford - 6'3" 245 Easley - 6'1" 250 Leblanc - 6'1" 215 Langois - 6'3" 290 Reasons - 6'5" 260 Looked like the second day of practice with pads on today. Loved the intensity, but as most coaches will tell you the first intersquad is rusty. The JV team has some good size on the line as well. And when you look at the Freshmen team, they have a good size line as well. 4 of the 5 on the freshmen team are all over 200 lbs + ! Like I said before PNG has alot coming up over the next 4 years. -

PNG looked great on both sides of the ball. Inter squad scrimmage today. Purple/White. PNG's Defense really looked alot different today than they did in the spring game. The defense was extremely aggressive !!! Very Very quick and hard hitting. The offense kicked it up a few more notches !!! I only saw a few more new plays run compared to the Spring game. Going to be a great season in the District this year, could come down to the final 2 district games to see who all is going to the playoffs this year. Overall, even more progress ! JV and Freshmen teams looked very sharp and executed great. Freshman team had a couple of 70 yard break away running plays for TD's. Looks like PNG is going to have some depth in the next 4 years. Next week we scrimmage Memorial. Should be a great test of PNG's new Offense and Defense. -
Watched the Freshmen today. They looked very sharp out on the field, then went over and watched some of the JV and Varsity practice. WOW !!! SKILLS, SKILLS, SKILLS, TECHNIQUE, TECHNIQUE, TECHNIQUE !!!!! is what its been all about !!! I really like that Faircloth is really putting alot of time into teaching the proper techniques at every position ! I look forward to all 3 scrimmages tomorrow morning at the REZ !
-
I would say that the Varsity is close to 50/50 this year on the offense, the Defense I believe has around 7-9 seniors.
-
Apparently the freshmen team got last years varsity uniforms. Don't know if the Freshmen will have the purple pants or not. Yeah the purple is a shade lighter. But who cares. All the opposing teams will see is the purple on top of them and they will know PNG is there !!!
-
WOW !!!! is all I have to say regarding the new coaches and the drills and the intensity on the field ! Even for the Freshmen. They ran alot and really worked on skills very hard. Thought the Freshman team was practicing with the JV from how many men were out there at first. There were prob over 60 Freshmen. And alot of those boys on the Freshman team are HUGH !!! thats one of the reasons I thought they may be practicing with the JV !!! My son told me that the practice today only pumped em all up even more for football. He came home and started working on some of the techniques they taught the freshmen today. Varsity looked like they haven't skipped a beat from Spring Ball !!! All I can say is that I'm totally impressed with everything I saw today ! From the coaches interaction to the intensity on the field !!! To me it was more intense than spring ball practices !
-
Ok its alittle after 5 in the morning, I'm up and so is my 14 year old son ! Incoming freshman at PNG ! He got up before I did and that's amazing. He's pumped about practice today and finally getting to become an INDIAN !!! I'm going to be there to watch all the practices this morning much like alot of us INDIAN supporters will be doing. It's finally here for us after hearing and reading about everyone else's practices. I'm gonna go take a personnal look at the Varsity locker room and see how good it looks with the new lockers and paint etc.... I have to get there early to find a good spot to park to watch the first day of practice. Everyone have a good day and a great week !

I think I read somewhere that Crosby lost their star reciever to Dayton and they lost alot of Seniors last year. I think it will be a toss up game to me. The heavy challenge will be Texas City and then the next will be all the district games. I see our district being fairly equal across the board. I don't see a dominating team in our district this year (yet) (sorry Vidor), but any given Friday night could be a toss up. Its going to be a very interesting season to say the least. I would have to give the district about 3 games deep to see who the major contenders are going to be. It could come down to the old coin flip again to see who gets the spots !!!! You never know !
-
OH MAN !!! PNG'S incoming freshmen are pretty dang big ! They had over 60 show up for equipment issue and a team meeting with Coach Faircloth and all the assistant coaches. Some of these boys are HUGH !!!! I know many of them personally and know how motivated and excited they are about playing for PNG and Coach Faircloth !!! I think PNG's freshman team will have a average of around 6' to 6' 2" and 215 on the O line !!! and these boys are very very quick too ! Should be interesting to watch the 2 middle schools mesh together and become one strong solid team ! Should be very exciting to say the least !!! Some serious speed in the back field and there should be 2-3 very qualified boys to compete for the QB spot. Some of the kids that I've seen have grown something serious over the summer. What they looked like before school let out last year to know, is unbelievable. Some looked like they grew 4" tall over the summer. My son is a freshman this year. Heck he shot up over 2 inches during the summer. I'm afraid to buy him school clothes for the fear of him growing out of them in a month. LOL !!! 20-4a is going to be alot of fun and alot of trouble for all the other districts in the state come playoff time in many years to come !!! Nederland also has some big boys coming up as Freshman as well. One of them lives next door to my father and he is 14 and about 6' 2" ! I'm 6' 1" tall and he is poking over my head now. I also have a nephew in LCM who is going into the 8Th grade and he is 5' 11" and getting thicker all the time. I see the upswing in our district happening with talent and size. Gonna be great competition and we will all have some D1 players on the fields I believe.
-
I heard Doty as well, but Desmond is the better runner. I think this is a great problem to have for PNG. 2 very capable QB's !!! I think you will see alot of rotation between the 2. Or have both on the field at the same time, could be a very confusing situation if that happens for any defense. Lots of possible trick plays to run and throw at a defense.
-
I like this look alot ! Are they going to have a change in uniforms as well ?

PNG/ BH GAME WILL BE SHOWN SAT. AT NOON CH. 15!!
pngfan66 replied to FOOTBALLFEVER99's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
This game will be close in the first half. Come the second half I see PNG settling down and getting to some serious business. PNG has alot to prove and I truly believe they will want to prove themselves against a good talented team such as BH. I think the new offense will be to much for BH to handle. -
The JV team had some good size on both sides of the ball as well. The incoming freshman team is going to have some incredible size too ! my son is 14 and 1 inch away from 6' ! his 2 friends were here last night who are O linemen and those 2 boys are huge ! one is 6'2" and about 230 lbs and the other one is alittle smaller ! My son is about 215 ! and that's just from GMS ! I know PNMS had some big ol boys as well ! I see PNG having some incredible size and strength for years to come on the O & D lines !!!
-
PNG's O line is pretty darn big ! To me it looked like both tackles were 6' 2" - 6' 4" and around 250 each, one of the guards were about the same size as the tackles. The other guard and the center were pretty big as well !!! Not to sure about the D line, but I'm thinking they may be looking more at quickness and agility than overall size.
-
Under Coach Faircloth and his Offense, I truly believe PNG will begin to have some QB's coming around and out of the program with some high high numbers !!! Look at OP and the Qb's they developed and the numbers they put up with Faircloth !!!!
-
I've been reading the thread on the other site. I think you've held your own with those guys. SLC and ET are huge 5A schools with a much larger population that PNG has. So I would hope they would be able to bring more folks to games ! Even Odessa Permian has a larger pop than PNG. But, to say even as a 4a school we probably have more folks at games than 99% of most 5A programs across the state. I think that PNG has the largest following across the state just do to length of the football program and tradition ! If they all want to say they are number one in attendance let em think that, and to me who cares ! We all know that Southeast Texas is the football capital of Texas ! No one can compete with that ! All the area schools from 5A to 1A are all good and they all have potential ! Southeast Texas just puts out some great competitors for football, baseball, basketball etc !!!! Dosen't matter which school, we just have that talent pool year end and year out ! and all the communities around know that !!!!
-
I know DeRon is around 6'4" and around 190-200 lbs. Thats pretty thick for a reciever. Also the running backs are pushing 180 + ! Remember Juaquez Rogers from Lamar consolidated ? He was like 5'7" tall and around 170lbs. That kid could run and hit ! He is now the starting RB for Oregon ! I also suggest you go and watch PNG's spring game again. The boys on both sides of the ball were laying down some serious hits ! If you were there you would know that ! You could hear the pops in the stands. Also in a offense like PNG's you don't always have to have super size in those skill positions either. The qb is throwing mostly to the most open reciever and the RB is behind PNG's huge O line ! Only time willl tell, but I think you may not be seeing what you think you are seeing in PNG !

In 2009 What Game Are You Looking Forward To
pngfan66 replied to skipper's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I'm really looking forward to PNG's first game against BH. I watched the spring game but that was under a more controlled atmosphere. I really want to watch what new plays and sets Faircloth will throw around. I guess just to see what we have in a more competitive arena ! How the O will operate under a different D pressure setting and how well they can adjust and the D. The D seems to be my sticking point for the team. Not sure how aggressive the D will be. In the past the D at PNG was a very strong and at times dominating presence. I'm more comfortable with the offense right now than the defense. Just a wait and see situation. GO NDN'S
