  1. PNG ? hmmm let me think ....... Oh I know ! Dustin Long !!!!
  2. My son is an incoming freshman at PNG. He told me that coach Faircloth wants the men to maintain a minimum of a C average. Don't know specifics, I'm sure that in the next few weeks his policies for the players will be revealed more. I also would find it hard to believe that anyone with a C or less would not be allowed to play. Now if a player carried a F he wouldn't be allowed to play. I think the cut off has been a D. But new coach so therefore new policy ! As far as being a better citizen, I know he is going to expect all players to have respect for themselves and others and the programs they play in. I heard he will have a dress code for the players and how they act and present themselves in school. I'm all for a more hard nose approach and believe it will instill more discipline and respect in the entire athletic dept. Set the standard higher and everyone who wants it will reach that higher level.
  3. I believe you can call the PNG admin building and they will more than likely have an attendance record of all the home games. Last seasons attendance was down, not just because of how well (bad) the team was doing but because of IKE. I know that when MCM rolls around there are over 12,000 in attendance at those games, good season or not. If I were to guess and average home side, home game attendance I would put it around 9,000 on average. Nederland has a large home attendance as well. Playoffs, larger following. Like myself and my dad, if PNG dosen't make the playoffs we will go and watch other locals who have made it. I'm sure I'm not alone in that aspect. When lumberton played LaMarque 2 years ago, I know they had a large crowd, but in that crowd were alot of folks from PNG and Nederland and other schools. It all carries over in the playoffs. I feel the top 2 in our 4A district crowd wise would be PNG and prob Nederland, closely followed by Lumberton (depending on the type of season they are having) as is the case with most schools. Consistency of crowd, (good or bad season) PNG and Nederland.
  4. Right now I would say Nederland, but I think after a few games the whole scenario could change. With 4 new coaches in the district, its gonna be interesting.
  5. PNG had a running back running some plays on varsity in spring practice who is going to be I believe a sophmore next year. He runs like hemmings and looked thick. Don't know his name, but he reminded me of Hemmings, but with alittle more quickness ! Anyone from PNG know who it is ? I heard he was the back for the Freshman team last year.
  6. BLAH BLAH BLAH ! Thats what its all about right now. Speculation and wishing ! Vidor may have alot returning but that in itself will not determine how they will play or were they will be at the end of the season. Look at PNG last year. We had only lost 2 on offense last year. PNG should have been able to win their games from that alone, if you look at it from Vidors position as of now. Just because you have alot of players returning dosen't mean crap ! The big heads and the "hey we have alot of returners, so everyone shall bow down and let us win" is really rediculous! Look back and think about your teams and the years you had a bunch of returners and then, and every team at some point with alot of returners ended up barely making 500 for the season. There is so much talent in this district that as of right now no one knows who is going to be king of the mountain. Its all speculation. Vidor folks get your big head and as soon as its busted hold your tongues because you will be eating alot of crow !!!
  7. OK dangit !!! I went a head and played cherokee !!! Stood up and had to clap !!! Dangit 40 days till practice and then a few more till some games !!!! Just had to torture myself with Cherokee. Oh great now my daughter is upstairs playing cherokee on her flute. She was a proud Purple Pride Section leader her senior year, just graduated ! With drawls, shaking, sweating, need football, need football !!!!!!
  8. Hey thanks !!!!!!!!!!
  9. While on that subject, the top game on your list (PN-G vs. Plano, 1977 Texas State Championship, 49,953) holds both the state and national record for attendance at a high school varsity football game. WOW really ! Were did you find that info at ? Just curious. Regarding the attendance record nationally.
  10. Technically, we haven't played a game since the stadium was built. "Built" implies completion. Our stadium wasn't complete until after the end of last year's football season. Putting all the technical crap aside, the last varsity football game for PN-G was under a different coach and played on a completely different system. Essentially, it was a completely different team. The spring game serves as proof of PN-G's improvement from last year. For these reasons, the results of last year's football season have virtually no bearing on PN-G's potential performance in the upcoming football season. AMEN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  11. I think its funny how most PNG haters are always looking for some way to bash the program, pick apart what they percieve as a weakness on the team. I believe the men have done a great job for spring training, learning a new coach and his system. They were able to put alot of it together and make it work. What you may have seen on you tube was only a small fraction of the offensive plays that he runs and as far as the D, don't worry the D will shine and be even more physical and in the right places at the right time when it really starts to matter !!!!
  12. I agree with you here ! The change from last year to this year is obviously apparent ! For the better. I'm not to overly concerned with the Defense. I went to alot of the practices and and scrimmages. This is the first time in a long time that I have seen our defensive players tackle with technique and skill and shear raw force. Give the D some more practice time and they will be alot better. Remember Faircloth is a new Head Coach, but the thing he has done is surround himself with assistant coaches that are from high profile and championship teams as well these new coaches have proven themselves. That in itself lends alot to me that he is very intelligent and that PNG FOOTBALL will be a force in the district for some time to come. He pulls the most out of those men on the field. My son went to the camp for incoming freshmen. I was so impressed with the skills taught and the techniques and the excitement that was flowing all over the field and stands.
  13. well how many games did LCM win last season ?
  14. I myself, seem to have a tendency to kick my kids butts outside during the summer ! I tell them go outside, play, swim, do something ! Yeah they are allowed to come in and out, but the majority of the time they are outside ! My wife keeps about 2 gallons of Gatorade in the fridge for them to drink and lots of Kool aid and cold water. I grew up in the summers having to play outside ! OLD SCHOOL ! my mother would say get outside and don't come back in till I call for you or its getting dark or raining ! I know its different now days with all the electronic tech available for kids, but I do believe kids today are way to use to the A/C ! I have a son going into the 9th grade at PNG, he is going thru some serious strength and conditioning training every day for football, and on top of that he is playing Babe Ruth baseball ! He complains at times that it is hot but he keeps going and he keeps himself hydrated. He also wears underarmor clothing and he said that really helps to keep him feeling cooler ! Maybe that would help some of the players ! Regarding the whole 2 a days practices. Keep them, if someone comes into 2 a days out of shape and is sucking wind, then that's their problem. I don't see any area coach who would not let any of his players go get a drink of water. What i saw at PNG for spring practice was that the boys would get a drink about every 15 to 30 minutes. They had water coolers all over the place. In college we had 3 a days and the 2nd practice started at 2 pm. and went for about 2 hours. The 3rd was a shorts only at 7:30 at night for about 1 1/2 hours. keep the 2 a days ! It will help the boys get into shape and acclimate to the heat and conditions. I don't really think that any coach would deny and player from getting a drink !
  15. Great time last night on the rez !!!! Bigger crowd than I expected considering all the little league and softball games going on. Crowd was very pumped last night. Cherokee needs to be played at a faster beat ! My daughter is a senior and gradutating this year and she on several occasions at my pressure spoke with the directors about it and nothing changed. Maybe next year. Also I mentioned to Beckem and Wells that they need to put up a few mics in front of the band so that the band can be heard over the speakers. If you sit on the score board side of the stadium you can't hear the band. Coach Faircloth needs to take alook at some of those girls from the powder puff game !!! Man some of those girls have jets and some can get some air and grab passes way above their heads and then throw in some juke moves !!! LOL ! Had a great time last night with the family. Can't wait till 0 Week !!! 5 games at home to start off the season !!! HURRY HURRY HURRY !!!!!!
  16. Can't wait !!! ITS !!! 5 pm and I'm already dressed and ready to go ! Got my purple on !!! Can't wait to hear Cherokee again and watch my daughter play in the game tonight ! GO SENIORS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Better get there early to get a good seat !!
  17. After what I saw at PNG today I can say PNG will be a strong competitor for the sleeper. Hugh O LINE ! Man I tell ya it was hard to try and figure out the new O !!! So miss direction ! you have no Idea if it will be a pass or run ! This new O is gonna be fun to watch in a game !!! Everyone better watch out for PNG !!! I can say it hear and I know everyone will say otherwise about PNG but if you were not there today to watch the practice then you don't have any idea what I was watching out there today !!! Can't wait till reg season !!!!!!!!!!!!!
  18. THis is great to finally have a booster club ! I will have 4 kids remaining in the PNGISD system after this year. My youngest son will be a freshman next year and he is so pumped about the new system for football. The coaches from the high school have been going to GMS on almost a daily basis and working with these young men and introducing them to the new system. Everyday he comes home and tells me what they did and you can feel the excitment and how pumped up he is ! I also have 2 step daughters who will be up in high school in the next 2-5 years and they are big time softballers !!! Dang good too !!! I'm very happy to finally have a booster club, now we can get some of the things that these student athletes need !!!
  19. ME ! ME ! ME ! ME ! ME ! ME ! ME ! ME ! ME ! ME ! ME ! ME ! ME ! ME !
  20. Also I will admit that your CO wilson team was good. I just know that at GMS the talent was there but the coaching wasn't ! At GMS their O line was averaging around 5'10" to 6'1" and all around 190-220 lbs. I know because those boys all spent a ton of time at my house and ate everything that wasn't nailed down. The difference in a average team with talent and a great team with talent is the coaches ability to pull that 110% out of each and every player and have them leave it all on the field. I personnally am glad to see the change at PNG and how it is trickling down to all levels in our system. My son will be a Freshman next year. He just turned 14 and is 6' and comes in around 210 lbs. He just blew thru a size 11 shoe over the last 3 months. I just think that the coaching is much more specific and complete at the high school level. And I look forward to watching our boys put all their talent and capabilities to work on the field with proper coaching ! I believe it will make all the difference in the world as to how they play and succeed ! Lots of good MCM games coming up over the next 4-7 years !!!
  21. ; ;D I agree sometimes its better to do just that. I know PNG is doing spring ball for the first time in a long time. Of course our specific reason is obvious. I am beginning to think that alot of teams are moving towards spring ball just for the purpose of seeing what talent they have and what they can do with it. I believe it helps the kids to move into their summer break with a different attitude as well, and lets them know what they have to look forward to when practices begin in the late summer. This may also be an opportunity for those players to weed themselves out who are moving up to a higher level of play who may not be able to hang with it or decide they just don't want to play that particular sport. But all in all spring ball is more for the coaching staff than anything else. Great opportunity for evaluation and changes !
  22. : Everyone has talent coming thru their systems all the time !!! PNG has a ton of talent coming up from the Freshman team, and watch out for all the talent coming up from the 8th grade teams ! Heck even our JV from last year has a ton of talent coming up as well ! Man with all the up and coming talent that everyone has I guess we should skip all the games and just play MCM for the state title ! SARCASM !!!!! Every team has talent coming thru its ranks. Any team can have kids that competed great on the freshman level and jv level but the varsity level is something totally different ! So yeah be happy for what you have coming up but can they handle the pressure and the hits at a higher TALENT level or will they fold ?
