It sicken them to have Lamar in the same conference with the great La Tech.
The fans on the Sun Belt forum are always saying how arrogant La Tech fans are so that's not surprising.  La Tech really hasn't been very competitive against all those western schools, probably due to such long travel distances.  With more regional schools joining the WAC (with weaker sports) La Tech should be one of the top schools in the conference.  I seriously doubt they'll be joining CUSA unless a lot of top teams leave that conference as well.
I think it's a combination of travel and lack of money.  La Tech has one of the smaller budgets in the WAC. I have a big problem believing travel has anything to do with preventing success.. If big programs can win after flying across the country to play, so can everyone else. LA Tech is just over powered in the conference. They will be top contenders for a conference title in every sport once the conference is made up of more regional teams.

Could be. Travel will definitely be easier once these regional teams move in. Lots of long bus rides ahead for teams in the WAC.

If UT only loses Hamilton & Johnson, they would still be scary good.  The big whole is only having one 4 star forward recruit coming in.  Barnes has absolutely only three potential forwards on next years team if Thompson doesnt leave.  Wangmene, Thomas, 6'9" High Schooler Johnathan Holmes.  If Thomas leaves with Hamilton, Texas is in Big Trouble for next season!!!!!  I hope DeAndre Daniels and Kevin Thomas ink their offers too! I only talked about next season because I believe Texas is still one year away from being a consistant top ten team. Next Years Starting 5 Thompson Holmes Brown Kabongo Joseph Bench (shallow) Wangmene McClellan Julien Lewis
I think Barnes is hoping that only Johnson leaves. Their recruiting class is very small, but very good. I think UT has a solid chance this year to make a serious run at the title..

UConn got very lucky so many times throughout the game. UT's defense didn't even take the court for a 5 minute period early in the second half, which cost them the game. UT is really solid, and very young.
like that 3-pointer in OT?  30-footer, off-balanced off a deflected ball, not even looking at the rim when he started the shot.  without that, Texas wins.
Or the 32 footer shot during UConn's long run early in the second half.. Dude put up a horrible shot that bounced off the back of the backboard and it fell in. Also, the non-goal tending call with 8 seconds left in over time that cost Texas a 2 point lead. Lots of things went UConn's way.

However, I don't believe there has to be a huge shakeup for success. Tic Price has a long history of success as a head coach. With Roc's reputation as a great recruiter, Lamar could make Tic Price head coach and Roc as an assistant. I know Tic Price made a mistake but he probably deserves a second chance to be a head coach while benefiting from Roc's recruiting. EPG
No chance a head coach stays on to be an Assistant Coach. He'll go elsewhere.
 8. If the WAC has an opening.. You took. You know why? You play there for 5 years, maybe more.. And then move to a BETTER conference. LU will not get the opportunity to go to a better conference than the WAC because they haven't proved theirselves in the Southland. You go to the WAC, do well and THEN, and only then, will Lamar get that opportunity. You guys talk down on the WAC, but no other conference is going to offer LAMAR a spot.
More money to play at other FBS schools. More national attention than the SLC. Have you read what sports writers are saying about the SLC after Mike James record breaking game? All of them don't have a very high opinion of the SLC. Other FBS schools would be willing to travel to Beaumont. I'm not talking about the Top 50 programs. However, it is possible to get UH, UNT, UTEP, Rice, ULL, UL-Monroe, Arkansas State and so on. The SLC is dieing. I don't hate the SLC and if we stay I'm cool with that for the moment.
the same national attention idaho, new mex st and denver get?  quick...name their mascots.. RESPECT?  The teams that havent left the WAC are doormats...yall actually think utah st + idaho + new mex st would outdraw mcneese, sam, and stephen f?
You're not getting it. Outside of McNeese, Sam, and SFA, who else would draw in BMT? No one else in the SLC. Yes, LU would have to hose Utah St, Idaho, New Mex St, etc... But they also will be able to host other FBS schools. If you want to keep playing Webber Int, OPSU, etc... Stay in the Southland. The bigger and better schools wait on the other side..

BAD. But after saying that, LU will be in the WAC.  :)
No, you're wrong. LU needs a parking garage really really really really really really really really really really really really BADDD!!!!!!!!! But if the administration feels we can afford the move and truly believes we can successfully pull off the move then lets do it! I mean why not? Let's be the best we can be.
All the stuff that needs to be done, will be done. It will be non stop construction on campus and it will be hectic.. But it will be worth it in 5 years when they're in the WAC and the school is one of the finer institutions in the state. As for the parking garage.. All those temporary lots are perfect locations. Garages aren't the biggest buildings, square footage wise, they're just built UP. Put up a couple 2 or 3 level parking garages. It has to be done with the expanding amount of students. This is a comparable situation.. My junior college has 200 on campus parking spots, and over 1,000 students.. Security has a field day. Where do they expect people to park? It's quite funny walking along the roads and seeing torn up parking tickets on the ground. It's called a parking problem, lots of schools have them. But Lamar really needs to make changes.
 11.
Riley will more than likely go where his Dad ends up.  Assuming Todd gets an FCS coaching gig. Word is he left UNT because he did not fit into the QB position under new HC McCarney.  In other words, he wasn't going to play the position he felt destined to play. Whoever ends up with Riley for two years at the QB position will be getting a real gamer who knows the game.  I can tell you this, if Lamar ended up with Riley, he would win the QB position after Spring ball over either of your current #1 & #2(Pruett) QB's.  Or whoever is currently 1 & 2.  Riley is that good as long as he is healthy.
You do know that Jeremy Johnson transferred to LU?
 12.
Palmero is one of 4 players EVER with 3,000 hits and 500 Hrs and he only gets 11%!  This HOF voting is turning into a joke.  I believe most of the players from that era were "using" something,  take the best players and move on.
I'm sure at least 50% of the players elected in the last 10 years used.. They were just voted in before all this stuff started. Palmero is a hall of famer with or without the roids. And he's a real nice guy, lucky enough to meet him last year when we played his kid. His kid definitely wasn't a chip off the old block; maybe he should find the juice. ;)
 13.
Palmero, McGwire, and Bagwell all got less than 50%.  The voters have penalized the "suspected" steroid guys.
McGuire dropped to 19.8% from the 25% (somewhere in there) last year. Palmero got 11% Bagwell got 41.7% I still think Bagwell gets it at some point. It sucks for a guy like Bagwell when there is no proof that he ever used, but he still gets penalized.
 14. I bet Bagwell gets it in the next couple of years. I'm interested to see if McGuire's Vote % went up this year.
 15. I can say this, even though it's off subject, the place needs a parking garage.. BAD. But after saying that, LU will be in the WAC.  :)
 16.

Riley played about 6 games at receiver before injuries to the other quarterbacks forced him to move back the middle of this year.
He wants to play QB at the next school of his choice. I told ya'll this was coming.
Like I said, he's going to go to SFA. Or so I think. Hard to pass up a great team with an opening at QB..
 17. UT offered Dodge out of HS to play receiver. He also played receiver for a year at UNT, correct Menace? I think LU would love another offensive weapon. You can never have too many. I think he lands at SFA, though. Their QB graduates this year, so they'll be looking for another. He can go there and really make some noise in the SLC.
 18. Looks like closing in the hitting facility was the first thing done during Phase 1. Very excited as the renovations continue.
 19.
was looking up this up and it is interesting!!! POINTS PER GAME         86.8 = 4th overall in NCAA REBOUNDS PER GAME     40    = 29th overall ASSISTS PER GAME       15.3 = 59th overall FIELD GOAL PCT    .431 = 205th overall
How does LU have one of the highest PPG ratings and one of the lowest field goal %?
 20. He either becomes a utility infielder and DH's the other games he isn't needed in the infield, or gets traded. After last year, Young has something to prove, Beltre doesn't. Granted Beltre spent last year in hitters friendly Fenway, The Ballpark is very hitter friendly too.
 21.
I agree with the concept of 2nd tier schools coming to LU but the question for those who really want to move to BCS is who do you want to see coming to BMT and why?  Outside of the Southland Conference there are some very good FCS schools that might be an equal draw.
The biggest schools I could see coming to LU would be Rice, U of H, UTEP, and maybe Baylor. I'm not so sure that Rice or UTEP would draw much more than say McNeese or Sam Houston. But if they were able to pull a home and home with U of H or Baylor, that game would sell and then some. I could also see schools like La Tech, La Monroe, North Texas, La Lafayette, Tulane, etc.. Coming to LU. All of  those games would draw much larger crowds than say a McNeese or Sam. And plus, any in state school or Louisiana school is going to travel very well with their fans, which will sell even more tickets. One game that has to be on the schedule every year regardless of whether LU moves to FBS or not is McNeese. That game will always draw large crowds.
 22.
I have stayed out of the FCS vs BCS debate because I am not sure what the advantages for Lamar are in each.  If some of you are thinking that UT or A&M would ever come to play in BMT if LU was BCS, I doubt it would happen unless LU can support a program with a 70K seat stadium.  It is not a good business descision for either school and unforunately that is what college sports, particullarly football is.  It is a business and even winnng programs fire coaches today because they are not bringing in enough revenue.
Look at Maryland. And LU does not have the room for a 70K seat stadium right now. They would have to move locations, and let's face it.. They're not doing that. The set up with the Montagne and the new facility is perfect. I could see them decking both sides, with a small bowl in front of the Montagne.. MAYBE bringing it to 35-40K.
 23. Port Arthur Memorial's JAIVON SLONE committed to U of H on May 17th West Orange Stark's MARK ROBERTS also committed to U of H on June 29th
 24.
Not sure they will move Chavis. He was promised the tight end position when he transferred from A&M. That's why he left is because didn't want to change positions. Even though he can't catch a cold. he even lost the starting spot to Davis by the end of the year. I think tight end is where Dionte will ultimately be however. Chavis will be long gone by the time Dionte will be ready to play
I don't care what you were promised.. If you help the team better at DE and you aren't the starter at TE, go play DE. It's not about what position you want to play.. It's what's going to help the team the most.
