Playing in fron of all those fans is like playing at a small college! Nice crowd on both sides
No kidding!  That Png school spirit is awesome!  I couldn't help that attendance at my lu cardinals games was down at least a couple of thousand when we were playing at the same time s the indians.  I wonder if we (LU) were getting a lot of indian fans?  I hope so!  Dear indian fans:  please come support our cardinals when it doesn't conflict with your indian games.  We truly need your support and we'd love for y'all to show us how it's done!
All I can say to that is PNG will support LU all of the way...But I can Tell you the more local kids they pick up ,especially at 1st ,the bigger their ticket sale will be...Because setx has some of the best highschool players around!!!!!!!
We have a BUNCH on our roster and I hope it continues.  I just hope we can get the better players from here to sign with LU.  And I totally agree that we need to have a heavy local roster.  Oh, and we had a BUNCH of local players seeing a lot of playing time.  A lot of local starters.
I said earlier that Manvel's offense was very similar to Willis' offense and it would be alot of speed and spreading the field...obviously,PNG's defense 1) has been on the field too much since the O can't seem to get anyting going..2) cannot match the speed & athleticism of Manvel's O......it happens.
Let me guess, Manvel has black kids so automatically PNG "cannot match the speed and athleticism"?

Who's running out of BISD?  Enrollment is doing good.  As I said, this have nothing to do with the current topic...   ::) ::)
Denial isn't a river in egypt.  Bisd enrollment has been flat for over twenty years.  As for who is moving out of the district, surely you aren't that ignorant?  All of the white people are leaving bisd.  It started with the great ping pong ball debacle of 1980.  Slowed in the early 90's with the promise of neighborhood schools.  And has picked back up again under the watch of the current superintendent and board.  Since you are in total denial, look at the white enrollment in bisd.  It is around 15% now!
Your still not proving a point... Just sound like a bitter and ignorant individual...
So the non white increase of students in Nederland, PNG, BC, and Lumberton is due to the white people leaving BISD?   Or due to the current board and superintendent in BISD? Crime rate might scare them. Couldnt be any other reason or could it? Thoughts?
so are you trying to say those cities haven't seen white people relocating their from beaumont?  So the fact that lumberton has grown from about 2000 people to over 10000 since the mid 80's is because of the 4 or 5 black people that'd live there?  The blacks in nederland are likely there because of rita and blacks leaving port arthur.  I imagine some are from beaumont too.  There is a relatively large group of blacks that do not want to go to school at predominantly black schools.  All of beaumont and port arthur's schools are either all black or predominantly black.  So there are no longer predominantly white schools for them to attend.  In any event, white kids have not been given a chance to fairly participate in 'black' sports in beaumont.  Consequently, bisd loses good families who may also have very talented kids to other school districts.  I know my comments aren't politically correct but that doesn't mean they aren't true.  If you look back at the 1982 wb team you will see that it was loaded with very talented black AND white players.  The french team also had some talented white kids.  Since the early 80's there has been a "to hell with the white people" attitude/movement led by people like paul brown and howard trahan.  This has picked up dream again with the current bisd superintendent and board of trustees.  If you don't think this has negatvely impacted athletics in beaumont then you would be ignorant.

Pearland is good, I'm not denying that. But they aren't 51-22 good over West Brook....normally. We have played better against better teams. Mark my words, if Pearland makes it to the Region 3 final against Katy, Katy will crush them! They are beatable!!! We just didn't show up and execute. No two ways about it. This WB team played poorly today. We never had an opportunity to be competitive. They did some things that made us make some adjustments in the 2nd quarter. The problem is, we never made those adjustments. Just sayin.
a little bitter are we  ???
No sir. Just stating the obvious
Still living in 1982 I see.  Those days are long gone and will not return until butch independent school district changes its ways.
 11. Obviously this team still has a long way togoL!!!!
 12. Can we please get serious about basketball again and go hire kaspar away from sfa?  Please??!!!
 13. Lose by 32 to SMU??!!!!  THAT IS AWFUL!!!!  I posted the other day that it sounds like they are not playing defense.  This will be another crappy year.  Ridiculous¡!!!!!!!!!!

 15.
If this team wins 2 outta 3 this season then they will have won 20 games and finished 11-5 in conference with all these returners next year. I'll take it. They didnt shoot well yesterday against a pretty good team and still had a chance to win. I like their odds of winning 20+ as they should improve as the season progresses. Really looking forward to seeing James. When is his debut?
Portland State is/was ranked 201.  I don't consider that pretty good.
 16.
LU is a 4.5 point dog against SMU today!!!
Well, it is a tough line to call because they did beat Portland St fairly easily.  If we play zero defense we will lose again.  I remember when we were playing Billy Ball...I can't recall if it was with Billy or Roc but we played no defense and kept getting our butts handed to us in conference. I don't mind running and gunning at all but we have to defend.

He said they have a few ideas for next year but didn't share them with me nor did I ask. He said student attendance was great the first 3 games but fell off the last two. I like badndn stated earlier in this thread I mentioned the HS playoff games as a possibility of effecting the attendance to him and he stated there are a lot of season ticket holders that are PNG alumni and that probably did effect the game last night. I agree with coachacola if Lamat were in a FBS conference and winning 8 or more a year the HS playoff games wouldn't effect attendance as much. Next year we finish the season at home with McNeese. So, either way that should be a well attended game.
If ifs and buts were candy and nuts we'd all have a merry christmas. By and large, nobody really cares about beaumont high school football.  The PNG game definitely hurt.  We just need to make sure and recruit plenty of PNG and Nederland boys to keep attendance up.  Having a few Beaumont and Lumberton players can't hurt either.  At least until we are in FBS and winning 8+ games per year.
Oh and the students do need to be MUCH more involved.  When I was in school I was in a fraternity and pretty much the only students that showed up to football and basketball games were the greeks.  Oh, and what did the President at the time do?  Try and make life a miserable as possible for the greeks.  He was trying his best to run us off campus.  Damn idiot.

The Alabama starters will probably play 1 or 2 quarters, get up by 30 or 40 and then the 2nd and 3rd teams will come in and add a few more.
jj come on now it got ugly !!! quickly
Nah, it easily could have been over 100, but they didn't.
So 63-7 isn't ugly?  Wow...I guess that shows it is all in your perspective.
 20.
agreed.  Plus we need fan support.  the last 2 games attendance was disappointing.  the two wins at the end of this season should set us up with a lot of momentum heading into next year.
they had a winning record and are in the same conference as langston.  granted, they are no powerhouse but they are apparently a fairly good div II team.  Also remember that we had our hands full with Langston.
