1. I'm dreaming for a second.  Could you imagine if our men's basketball team had the success of SHSU's???  We are awful and we consistently draw over 3,000.  SHSU beats the crap out of us every year and only draws 1700???  That is pathetic!!!!  WTF is Marlin still there??  That dude can flat out coach.  He and Kaspar just put on a clinic when they play against us.
2. Am I the only person left that thinks we should compete for the league championship every year?  We've been losing for so long that everyone thinks 8-8 in the weak Southland is good???  I like the fact that Coop doesn't sugar coat things.  The fact is we are not any good.  The fact is the future does not look bright.  The fact is the players we have just aren't very good. Can't we lure Marlin away from Sam or Kaspar away from SFA?  Isn't Tim Floyd looking for a job.  I, for one, am sick and tired of us being so pathetic.  Last year was the first year in 30+ years that I didn't go to an LU basketball game.  And I'm not going back until we have something worth watching. That said, I am definitely going to see the women this year.  What a fantastic job Tidwell has done with that program!!!  Hey, there is another idea.  I wonder how Tidwell would do heading up the men's program?
3.

Not bad at all!!!!!!!!  I hope they get close to doubling that by the beginning of football season as well..........I do however find it hard to believe that there will be 12-13,000 at every game........I just do not see 7-8,000 individual game tickets being sold for each game!!!!!!!!  Hope I am wrong!!!
I think there will be about 7-8k season tickets, about 4-5k students and probably 3-4k walksup, a sell out the first game no doubt!
I think we will likely sell out the first game.  However, there is no way we will sell 7-8 thousand season tickets.  And there is NO WAY 4-5k sutdents will attend.  Sorry, excluding the fraternities/sororities and the Friends of India, the LU kids are pathetic when it comes to school spirit and supporting  athletics.
4. Well I'll be picking up at least 4 more season tickets next week so you can 4 to your total.  Most people I talk to are still considering getting them.  I haven't talked to anyone who has purchased them already.  I think it is fantastic if we've already sold 2000 season tickets.  If we make it to 5000 I would be thrilled.
5. What????!!!! It's a great privilege to play another high school??? It's a great privilege to play against some 16-18 year old boys??? Get a grip! And why does everyone starting to call us Da Brook? Da isn't a word. Da' Brook makes us sound like either a bunch of illiterate hicks or a bunch of gang bangers. How about calling us West Brook???
6. Tough break. Another year another West Brook Beaumont bowl championship. Keep all those transfers coming to West Brook so we can keep winning!
7. Well, you better be a good curveball hitter if you are going to allow yourself to get behind in the count. Pitchers want to get ahead in the count and generally speaking they will throw a fast ball to get ahead in the count. Many times that will be the best pitch a hitter will see in an at bat.
8. Bridge City had a fantastic run. They have a very talented team. It seemed to me they were in control of the game until Cardone came in for San Antonio. BC had 2 guys on and I believe there were no outs and Cardone got out of it. I was confused as to what the BC hitters were doing against Cardone. It looked like they were all taking the first strike. I just don't get that at all. I understand taking a strike if the pitcher was a little wild but Cardone wasn't wild at all. He would throw a fast ball right down the middle on the first pitch and BC took it every time. Then he'd throw those curveballs. The BC hitters were toast once he got ahead in the count so again, I don't understand why they were taking that first strike. Anyway, it doesn't take away from a great year. They were incredible!
9. 11/12 will definitely be West End. They are loaded. Juniors will probably be West End. Seniors will easily be West End as well.
10. I don't know what Foster you remember but I believe he actually had a better record than Tubbs didn't he? And he did recruit some great players and had very successfull teams on his own. If you'll recall, UH was one of the top basketball programs in the country when he left. So you are saying that UH went after him because he wasn't any good. Also, I'm not complaining about what Roc did out of conference I'm upset with what he did in conference. I certainly don't expect us to go to kentucky, louisville and memphis and win. I don't think it is unreasonable for us to be good enough to QUALIFY for the TOUGH slc tournament.
11. Now that is a good one! However, I would rather one of the commodes be named after him so patrons can pay more suitable homage to him!
12. Oh, ok...so they are 4-14 and AWESOME because they've played a tough schedule, please! Obviously they suck. Gilligan doesn't give a flip about midweek/non-conference games and throwing 8 pitchers indicates that. Of course, scoring two runs had nothing to do with throwing 8 pitchers. Obviously LU wasn't hitting well. No big deal. It is just one game. Baseball is totally different than most other sports...anyone can beat anyone once.
13. We haven't had a good coach here since Foster left...and that includes the older Billy Tubbs. Marlin and Kaspar can flat out coach....Roc is nowhere near their class. It's a shame we won't spend a little money and get someone in here that knows what he's doing.
14. NO WAY Yes, WAY - but admittedly it's a WAAAAAAYYYYYYY long shot. OKay, let me say it in another way for clarity. Impossible in 2009!! Aren't you the same guy that said they couldn't beat Tech?
15. No it's not! He didn't say anything about their record..he's talking about a helmet. Catch a clue!
16. Oh please... do they know we almost beat them on the their home court last year, and we got knocked out in the first round of the SLC tournament.. maybe Tech's not the good team. At this point of the season, Tech isn't a very good team representing their conference. If Lamar would have lost, you would say its proof Lamar can't hang with the big boys. UNLV...you are dead on!!!!
17. I didn't know that so I looked it up. LU beat USC in 1994 in Beaumont 80-78 and USC won the next year in LA 76-72. Good stuff. I suppose that explains why PAC 10 teams don't want to play here either.
18. It's very difficulty to get a big basketball school to come play here. And I would imagine it is equally difficult to get one to got to SHSU. The big schools don't want to risk a loss like that. They'll be more than glad to play you on their homecourt because they know they have a much better chance at beating you. Question, when is the last time a Big East team played here? I believe it was Villanova back in the 80's..the year after they won a national championship. We beat the crud out of them and haven't been able to get a big east team since. What about the ACC? I don't know if one has ever played here. Or the PAC 10??? The only ones we really have a shot at playing are Big 12 and SEC because of their proximity...and they don't want to come here and get beat. Now that we beat Tech we'll probably have to do a 10-1 swap to get a Big 12 school to come here again unless we already have one under contract.
19. Man, you were WAY off!!! dang im good.got another one texans 27 titans 17. I hope that one is right as well. As a matter of fact, I see a texans win as well...but I'm saying 24-20.
20. I'm going to have to eat some crow on this one. I never thought Custer would contribute squat. He definitely lacks in athleticism but I've got to give him credit. I thought he played very well tonight. I will even go as far as saying that you could make a convincing argument that he was the difference in tonights game. He as tremendous help on the defensive boards. When he wasn't in there Tech would get three and four shots. That rarely happened when Custer was in there. Plus, he really has some nice touch around the basket. He provides a tough matchup for teams with his length. Man, and what about Skylar Williams...good lord is he a freak or what???!!!! What an athlete that kid is. If he could ever learn to shoot he would be scary. Did you see that reverse layup???!!!!! WOW!!!!
21. There is a big difference between mid major speed and big D-1 speed. As evidenced by lowly kentucky and Louisville Lowly Kentucky and Louisville??? Louisville and Kentucky are lowly???? I thought Louisville was in the top 10? I thought Kentucky had the 1st or 2nd most wins in college basketball history??? Lowly??? Good lord! Anyway...there is also a big difference between playing at home and playing on the road. Lamar will win this one because they are at home and to remind other big conference schools why they don't want to come play here. You ever think BYU will come back? What about Villanova??? These 'big' basketball schools beat up on the smaller basketball schools mainly because they will only play them at home. I'm shocked that Tech is coming here. I give the credit for having some nads.
22. Democrats = higher taxes, gun control, pro-abortion (unborn baby killing), re-distribution of wealth (socialism), socialized medicine, bigger government, anti military, gay marriage, anti freedom of religion....doesn't matter if he's white, black, purple, or green a vote for a Democrat is a vote against America and the belief system it was founded on. By the way, I was listening to 93.3 today and the black community (I think it is in Houston) is organizing a rally to support the first black president. They are encouraging everyone to wear BLACK to support a BLACK president. Is it just me, or is that overflowing with racism??? I'm happy to hear you were listening to a show about Black issues. That makes me feel good because I listen to shows all the time with White issues. You and I have found a common bond. Thats what America is all about. Now, was the group going to wear black and spew out racial hatred? They didn't say. I hope not.
23. The fight was started after halftime when PNG thought to themselves...how in the world did we end up like this? You could see it brewing throughout the game...my brother said the PNGers were using choice words that would insight any Central athlete to fight...but we kept our cool! After the fight when the PNGers started jumping up and down and y'all band played Cherokee....all the Central kids did was point to the scoreboard that read 16-0...we're moving on! UUUUHHH both side were using "choice" word i was down on the sidelines and heard some of the garbage going on, yeah yall were pointing to the score as yall were being rapidly escorted to the buses When I say choice...Son, I mean choice...words that remind us of the hatred our country has been through and still to this day tries to forget. Was there some jawjacking...Sure it was....FB wouldn't be FB without some jawjacking...but using some of the things they used was way out of line! We were being escorted to the buses to keep you guys from catching another beat down! ;D Happy Vets Day! Damn, I thought I could stir up some crap on these boards...but I don't hold a candle to you! Good lord.
