I don't know about Rankin or Bolton, but Theriot and Crouch HAVE head coaching experience!! Come on Skippy, do your homework before you start running your mouth!!

WOS has been playing Dayton and Bay City and Central and Nederland as well as LCM since they have dropped to 3AAA.  They even beat Dayton last year when they won the 4AAAA Region.  I don't think that has anything to do with there playoff losses.  Also some of these teams wont play WOS due to the fact that they are consistantly getting beat by them.  For example Dayton has NEVER beaten WOS.

Let the GURU make some since of this!  The Mustangs should throw the ball short, but not to side.  They should throw the ball in the middle, but not deep in the middle.  They should throw the ball on first down, but not to the side or deep.  Come on guys!  I have seen a few Mustang games this year and trust me they seemed pretty successful at what they are doing!  You are going to have big plays on every level, look at last years Patriots.  Sometimes on offense you just have to take advantage of what the defense is not good at. 

Unless I am mistaken, the loser of this game draws WOS in the first round!

Good post!  I know that Bridge City took the hardest hit from IKE, but there were many homes lost in Orange as well!  Good Sportsmanship!!!!

I don't think Long will be the guy for LCM, but I do think he may be in the Purple and White!

This may not have started at the school, but you would have to be clueless to believe that this situation wont carry over into this school!  

One of the problems I have with some of you WOS fans is you complain and complain about things like kicking games and kickers, and when the problem is improved there are no props given for the solution!  Just rip, rip, rip, and complain, complain, complain!  Congrats to the Mustang staff on finding and developling a good kicker.  Congrats to Justin Sparrow on the success you have had this year!!

I think that the last two or three years Vidor vs. Central have been barn burners!!  Also 1985 WOS 10 Beaumont French 7 at the Babe!!  1989 WOS 25 PNG 20 and WOS 32 Nederland 28 that same year!!  1988 Hamshire Fannett 21 Orangefield 14 in the Playoffs!!  My favorite all time is WOS 3 Jasper 0 in 1987!!  I would have loved to have seen Class 3A #1 ranked WOS vs Class 2A #1 ranked Newton in 2005, but Tropical Storm got that one!

I am not sure which schools will go big, and I know Longview will, but the Lobos will have to beat some tough opponents to get out of their region.  Region II has Dallas Carter, Highland Park, Ennis, Corsicana, Waxahachie, Everman, Texas High, Sulpher Springs, Marshall, Kilgore, Waco High, SOC, and several other tough opponents.  Im sure the Lobos will have to face some of these opponents before reaching the Semi's!

If talent is the main reason a high school team wins, then places like Ozen and PA Memorial would never lose!  Don't take the coaches and structure of the programs for granted!!

Do to my screwed up work schedule since IKE, I was not able to see this game.  I did read the stats in the paper and the Chronicle had Hypolite rushing for 121 yards.  I believe he is the QB, and unless I am wrong about who the QB is, that is a pretty good night!  Surely yall didn't think that Silsbee was gonna allow Garrett to just run wild like he did against Nederland.  I wish I coulda seen this one!!!!

I was at the game Friday and I only saw the mustangs throw about 4 or 5 deep balls!  I think 2 went for TD's and another went down to the 5 yd line.  I can only remember the starting QB throwing 1 inc deep ball, but I may be incorrect!!  Some of you mustang fans need to observe games being played in other places realize that yall stangs do a pretty good job of coaching and executing.  Personally, I would have thrown the ball deep several more times with that much success, but execution is the key.  That is why we are just fans and coaches are coaching!!  On a different note, I went to this game because I had never seen B. Royal play and I gotta tell you that was possibly the most undisciplined team I have ever seen in high school football!  Very upseting watching that game, but the mustangs were everything that has been advertised!  I was impressed with the performance throughout the game, but especially since I counted 6 mustangs who didn't finish the game due to injury!  I believe there were only 20 players at the end of this game that were playing!!  Now that is impressive!!

I have heard that the mustangs lost three varsity players and one varsity coach!  Does anyone know if this is true?

I saw both Longview and BH play last year, and I really believe that Longview could have scored 80+ points on the Hill!!  This game has puzzled me since the day I found out about it.  Why would BH play Longview?

Wait a minute! About half this message board was hammering local coaches for moving games up to thursday!!

I think kudos goes out to ALL the area coaches in juggling around these schedules to get these games played!  I mean I'm sure that they are trying to figure out just like everyone else when and where these canes will hit.  To my knowledge we have already dodged one can, one tropical, and one more cane on the way.  So far NO CANCELLED GAMES! Now that deserves some applause for ALL area coaches!!

I don't think this is a subject that will go away easily both on this site, in the paper, and in the community!  I personally don't think that this is a situation that should go away quietly and without punishment or an intelligent solution.  I would like to encourage as many people as possible to contact the supt and board members at lcm isd on wednesday.

Here is another idea!  How about the lcm players, fans, community, and assistant coaches come over to Hooks stadium to play, and if the head guy doesn't want to come he doesn't have to.  I mean I normally am not this vocal on subjects, but I can't tell you how COWARDLY of a decision and how POORLY of an example this guy has made!!  I am not even a die hard mustang fan, but this guy is paid to set a certain example to help develop young men.  By this decision, he is basically telling these young men that is ok to not try or run away from a challenge if things get tough or unfair.  Well I got news for this so called head coach at lcm LIFE SOMETIMES ISNT FAIR!!  I believe this guy must have no pride or self esteem to go out like this!!

You know if you think about it, if the lcm staff starts preparing wednesday for bridge city that will give them nine days of preparation for that game.  By bridge city playing on saturday the cards will only have five days to prepare.  I think Coach Stump should cancel the game with lcm because of lack of preparation time.  Here is another scenario, if Hurricane Ike and Tripical Storm Josephine come close to the gulf the lcm coach may be able to get out of playing even more games.

Believe it or not there are several LCM parents that are upset about this whole ordeal and they will be making their complaints to the Supt. wednesday.  I think he should be docked 1/10 of his pay since he is not completing 1/10 of his job.  I bet he would prepare that team in two days if that were to happen.  I mean come on look how much this guy is payed to coach and this is what is the result.  My opinion of David Williams has gone WAY up in the last 24 hours.  

Ironically, I have a nephew that plays for the 11 and 12 year old little cypress bear football team, and they are not only practicing today, but are playing on saturday.  Maybe the mustangs can put them on the schedule.  This is an embarassing day to for the bears.  I mean what does this say to the kids on the team that have been working hard to play this game for weeks and the coach gives some lame excuse, basically saying he is scared.  This man has been hired to COACH football games not CANCEL them.
