  1. I wouldnt get the big heads there WOS, any of them teams could very much so walk away with a win just look at what happend last week with Vidor

BUT WOS WILL HAVE 2 TEAMS BEAT THEM JASPER AND KVILLE

    :D :D :D :D

What's funny about all the posts is the fact that some people are on here passing judgement about a team based on preseason scrimmages that mean nothing.  I mean I can remember the Patriots and Colts losing 3 out of 4 preseason games and then not losing but 3 more games in the next 19 games.  Does that mean that Tony Dungy and Billichek are poor coaches.  I mean by my calculations WOS is 34 - 4 in the last 3 years and all of the sudden they are gonna lose to Kville and Jasper?????  In my opinion WOS will continue to beat Kville by 4 or 5 TD's and Jasper will give them a run, as well as Nederland.  I just don't think that you can judge a team on ANY level from a preseason or scrimmage that DOES NOT COUNT!!

  2. Coach Brooks has 3 state championship wins, one as a player and two as an assistant coach, he knows how to win and can get them there if anybody can....his offensive coor is not to shabby either...the guy knows football (OC).....

Hey knowitall, I hate to correct you on your first post, but Coach Brooks has FOUR state championship wins, not three!!  Two rings at WOS, one ring at Waxahachie, and one ring at Beaumont Hebert when he was a player!! Maybe you should change your screen name Idontknowitall!!

  3. Here are some interesting numbers that I got from Maxpreps.  Eight of our local football powerhouses scoring per year, and some of these numbers are very surprising.  This is scoring points per game by each of these teams.  A movement of 4 or more points one way or another is big move.

    Dayton  28.5(04) 36.2(05) 30.3(06) 32.7(07)

    Central  10.6(04) 22.8(05) 30.8(06) 18.3(07)

    Jasper  29.3(04) 32.3(05) 10.8(06) 32.8(07)

    Newton 34.8(04) 44.8(05) 34.7(06) 36.8(07)

    East Chambers 31.5(04) 21.2(05) 37.5(06) 34.7(07)

    WOS    35.4(04) 37.8(05) 38.2(06) 33.8(07)

    WB      15.3(04) 31.6(05) 37.3(06) 35.7(07)

    Nederland 33.6(04) 28.2(05) 30.3(06) 24.2(07)

The Highest I have found thus far is Newton 44.6 in 2005, WOS 38.2 in 2006, and WOS 37.8 in 2005.

  4. The guys on here must be idiots

Joe Washington and Jamaal Charles are the 2 best Running Backs to ever play in Southeast Texas.  Name any two other players that can hold a candle to them.

I don't think that is fair to say that no one can hold a candle to Charles and Little Joe.  I believe that Steve Wooster of BC, a two time State Championship and National Champion at Texas, Earnest Anderson of WOS, who led the nation in rushing at OSU and finished second to Herschal for the Heisman, and Jeff Bergeron who also won a State Championship at PNG, and had a very good college career.  Lucky for Charles and Washington that we are not rating them on this board, like pro athletes are rated, which is by number of Championships.  They would both fall under the category of great athletes who could not close the deal.

  5. Who has the most surprising or most improved track team thus far this year?  I think my vote is going to the Central Jags!!  I can remember at the Nederland track meet Central ran I believe a 42.3 in the sprint relay and they ran a 41.2 the other day, now that is much improvement.  Very good job coaching!!  Good Luck to all SETX track & field contestants at the regional track meet.

  6. Here are the district leaders I have compiled from the chronicle and other area newspapers from our local 5A district:

    3200 - Ryan Bennett/Kingwood 9:47.98

    800 - Jerrod Doucet/Baytown Sterling 1:59.60

    110H - Cameron LaCour/Atascocita 13.50 *NATIONAL LEADER*

    100 - CJ Withers/Baytown Sterling 10.61

    1600 - Alec Yale/Kingwood 4:33.28

    4x400 - West Brook 3:19.78

If any body has any other of the district leaders going into the district meet list on this post.  ALL TIMES LISTED ARE (FAT).

  7. I noticed this past week that Silsbee won there track meet this past week, and I believe they won district last year, who will win the district this year.  Also this is a weird fact, both Hardin-Jefferson in 2005 and WOS in 2007 failed to win the district, but went on to win the region!!  So maybe it's best not to win this district!!

  8. I second that WOS4EVER!  I read on the WOS next Coach thread that WOS had never beaten Giddings with Toby, but I saw them play Giddings in 2005 and he was on the sidelines and I believe the final score was 45 - 13 in favor of the Stangs.  Somebody help me out here, am I correct on that?

  9. Okay guys, as if anyone would care what I think, here it goes. I agree that anyone pushing or hitting should suffer some consequences.  The problem I have is that I was there and I know for a fact that there were more than just two Tigers pushing. I also know that there where no punches made. The injuries happened when things got out of control and the two injured players were sent into the metal bleachers. The WOS fans were very worked up and there was a lot of confusion so that  even a tape would not show all that really happened. I have also heard there were WOS suspensions as well but the papers have not stated it yet. I feel that the officials could have broken up the initial shoving match if WOS fans would have stayed in control. I do have to say that I really want to make sure everyone knows the officials did a terrible job  through out the game of keeping it clean. Tigers took a time out to defuse an incident early on and it didn't get any better. I am not really taking sides but, I do hate that it came to this. I'm not sure about UIL viewings of the tapes but I know as for right now, all decisions have been made by the schools. These kids are good kids and it shouldn't have come to this. Shame on you officials!!!!

I do have to disagree a little bit with you here on this one.  I am not saying that the game could not have been called tighter, but individuals are still responsible for their OWN actions.  I really don't think that we can blame the officials in this situation.  The people who are at fault are the ones involved, both players and spectators.  In my opinion!!

  10. Here is my take on the matter.  Coaches control the players and administrators and security control the crowd.  Fans get loud and rude and ejected from games more then you probably realize.  This happens at little league's, jr. high's, high school's, colleges, and pro sporting events for various reasons, and I can assure you that WOS is not the only school that has had an ejected or rude fan/parent.  As far as the players go, the coaches are responsible for their players.  If this fight was started by the WOS players then the Silsbee players are in the wrong for retaliating.  Both teams are wrong and both teams will be punished!!  I was told by an employee at WOS yesterday that there have been both suspensions given to some players and also the permenant removal of a player.  I also spoke with one of the officials of the game, and he told me that they have already sent a copy of the incident to the UIL.  This is an unfortunate incident that has occurred, and hopefully there will be a lesson learned by other players, teams, and coaches.

Contrary to what some might believe Mustang football started in 1977 and has continued to prosper.  I personally thank Steve and Dan the op   portunity to work at Wos.  I chose not to continue after Dan got the job but I enjoyed the competion at the other schools I worked at.  I am on my son's site and my name is Glen Hill.  I just wish people would not openly apply for the OC job when it is not open.  Cornel is a good guy and a great coach as I am sure Toby is but to let this stuff go on with out them calling a stop to it is unbelievable.  We had great athletes when I was there and they continue to have great athletes.  So I ask that you quit bashing who is trying to continue the tradition and pull together as this is the only way we will get another one!!

Thrillhill I am a little confused by your post.  I am not an expert on WOS, but I try to follow all football topics on here and this is definately one of the hotter topics.  I am not sure what you are reffering to when you say that you wish people would stop applying for jobs on here that are not open.  You have to remember that this is a message board and people are going to give opinion.  I think that there are a large number of WOS fans on here that would like to see a different playcaller, but I have never seen an actual person come on here and say I am applying for this mans job. Now I do think the topic is beaten in the ground, but this is a message board and people are intitled to their opinion.  You then go on to say that "Cornel is a good guy and a great coach as I am sure Toby is but to let this go on without them calling a stop to it is unbelievable."  When you say "without them putting a stop to it", are you referring to Cornel and Toby?  If so, I doubt very seriously two coaches that are clearly successful are paying much attention to a local message board, and even if they were how do you think they could stop people from stating their opinions?  This is a setxsports message board where people state opinions, facts, stats, schedules, and other interesting stories, and I personally am glad that Coop and company put this thing together.  Just my opinion!!!
  12. Three SETX coaches are on a long list of coaches that have applied for a head coaching spot at west texas Andrews H.S.  Sam Pratt/ Lumberton, Toby Foreman/ Baytown Lee, and Kenneth Reidinger/ Buna have all applied for the AD/HC job at Andrews.  This is a very good and very long list of applicants, the Head Coach at Lamarque (Jones) was also on that list.  Good luck to all our local applicants!!

  13. Between all the LCM Talk and WOS Talk, it has turned into a soap opra in Orange County.  This coach is leaving, this coach is coming back, we need a new head coach, can you imagine what would happen if these two schools combined.  Can u say CLUSTER you know what!!

  14. STJFL, I am sorry to hear that things are like that over there.  It seems like LCM had turned the corner in the mid to late 90's, and then just kinda fell off again.  I do think that there is plenty of talent at LCM to be successful, it is just going to take the perfect guy for the job to do so.
