  1. Also, because a kid played something in PeeWee doesn't automatically qualify them for a position in high school football. QB's in peewee and QB's in high school are different. I shouldn't have to post that, but I guess it's not a widely known thing.
  2. I'm not so sure any of you saw the 7 or 8 guys in the backfield blowing up the play as soon as the ball was snapped. What would Tre or Kalon do with a rush like that? They'd get sacked. Neither one can throw a ball like Collins even on the off chance they get more than 2 seconds to throw the ball. O line play must improve, receivers must run smarter routes, and play calling must be better. Nothing wrong with the QB play this game.
  3. Just curious, how would you know about how ready the backup QB is?
  4. I'm not sure about the time he is getting tonight, but he takes too long to get rid of the ball. A qb gets 3-4 sec before he has to either throw or scramble. After those 3-4 sec then it's either the receiver or qb's fault. Again, I wasn't there tonight but in previous games he takes too much time to get rid of the ball.
  5. You've got the right idea
  6. From what I've seen so far this season, Silsbee should consider making some personnel changes on the offense...
  7. Don't forget about tennis... Their is a doubles team headed to state as well
  8. All the crap talk aside... like last season, I enjoy when Bridge City has a good team and makes it a good game
  9. I have faith in the new coach to get a line ready for these running backs... That is the primary position he'll be coaching here at Silsbee
  10. It's just beyond me that anyone would agree that Ozen is better for Calvin's recruiting because of the classification difference... However I do agree that if he was going to be offered by a bigger D1, he would have already been offered by now...
  11. Can we get back to the offseason talk? If rules are broken, then UIL can step in. No one here whining about it will change anything...
  12. Off topic, but I'm pretty sure the Ozen kid had it coming to him... Not saying she made the right choice
  13. You misunderstood... It's not required, he just takes note of who shows up and who doesn't.
  14. If that is true, then it is a stupid rule... What's wrong with getting kids to work hard? And what he is basically doing is giving the kids a good job pat on the back for putting forth effort...
  15. I knew that the kids would come around. They just gotta trust that the coaches want to win just as bad if not more than they do...
  16. We should know more shortly... when this rain clears out, the field work begins. With a new coach and a new system, anything is possible...
  17. Not as a quarterback... His film shows his exceptional running ability, but his throwing is subject. He can throw a ball far, but with little accuracy. He can't make the short, hit em in stride passes coach Smith likes to throw. Or at least that is what his film would suggest. We all remember Jeremy Johnson? He has twice the throwing ability that jones has, and he couldn't cut it as a quarterback... But that's jmo
  18. He'll have competition, no one walks into a sure thing
  19. hopefully they only get one Mackey
  20. Look for a few new talented sophomore's (now freshman) next year. One specific DL/LB is stronger than most seniors (now juniors), 6'0" 230, 5 flat 40, and a 255 powerclean...
  21. Things are looking good here in the Smoke. Coach Smith has a very solid off-season program. He is instilling a competitive value within the kids in the program. Almost all of their non-weight training activities involve competing with kids within their groups. He also keeps the weight room open starting at 6:45 am and after school till almost 6 pm so track kids can hit the weights. (which is about an hour and a half longer than it used to be) He takes attendance of those who show up and marks points for the kids showing up to workouts and other sports games (baseball, soccer, etc...) . He also gives points for kids who he sees working hard, which he determines.. He then adds up the points and ranks kids in their groups on who is working the hardest. I've personally never seen so many kids in the weight room after school, or supporting other team's games. Looking at the workouts, they do what most people are doing in the Spring... High intensity weight training with a couple days outside. I believe they start 7 on 7's here this week or next.
  22. This list is very inaccurate... No offense to the kids, but being a top recruit isn't based on talent or skill. It is your projection to the next level. Some of these kids are not sized accurately for their position to be labeled "a top recruit"
