  1. I agree... I am a fan of the 4 receiver spread offense myself. However, if it works then it works... If he wants to come in and run the ball, as long as it works, then I won't have one complaint.
  2. I agree that it will be an effective offense, but the kids do not want to hear that. They are angry with change and that is to be expected. I think the new coach will be a good change in Silsbee's program. From what I've heard he is very big on discipline and respect which is something all programs need in order to be successful. If the kids buy into his program and follow through, with or without Kolten, I think they finish in the top two spots in district this season...
  3. Because Bridge City kids are little angels? They were almost as vocal, physical, and emotional as Silsbee in last season's game. A little more and they might have won... but they performed as expected and lost
  4. The main issue is that Mackey (most likely) is leaving and taking his son with him. That is a huge loss for the receivers and the team in general. These kids are brothers and this guy came in and broke it up. It's not Smith's fault, however that's the main issue. Also he runs a 2 back 2 receiver system and that takes away the big threat in our passing game we had last year... All that and possibly losing coaches they have been with for years will cause the kids to act a little hostile about the whole situation
  5. If it works then nobody will complain...
  6. They aren't very lucky at the rim tonight... Also not getting rebounds, I'd put Luke in and tell him to go up and get that ball!
  7. I heard his little brother is just as effective in that offense, hopefully the lack of varsity experience doesn't impact him running that offense. You are definitely correct about the O-Line. I think they will still have good size, as the two tackles coming up are at about 6'3 and 6'2. They will HAVE to have a tremendous off-season, but I think we may end up alright in the OL positions. In all honesty, this district could end in many different scenarios.
  8. The loss of Dearing and Dubois will hurt more than you think...
  9. Sorry but Bridge City will finish behind Silsbee next year... The way Silsbee plays (fast), Bridge City will not be able to keep up.
  10. Tims had the stats to win... Jack didn't
  11. I doubt he sees any time at safety this season. Silsbee will most likely keep him at outside backer because he has a year of it under his belt. However, if a college coach sees that he has potential as a saftey, they will move him to safety when he gets there... But in high school he'll play were he helps the team most.
  12. He needs to make some appearances at camps this summer. It should take off after that...
  13. I'm curious to see what kind of looks he'll get... D1 FBS or FCS... not sure about his grades though
  14. He has a lot of intangibles. Height and weight 6'2 or 6'3 weighs 200 lbs and its all in his legs. I see him being a safety or linebacker recruit if he gains some weight. That was his first season of football since 8th grade btw

  16. Michael McCain from Silsbee? I feel like he is being over looked...
  17. Stats are stats. Dallas didn't come close to Dontre's numbers. The WRS isn't an award for the kid who went the furthest. And the defensive award was accurate.
  18. I would say that the Silsbee/ BC game was just a violent game altogether. Silsbee had some late hits, but so did BC
  19. It doesn't matter who the QB is. The receivers will have to get used to someone new throwing the ball. If the "certain QB" you keep referring to isn't in school with them now. They will have a lot to work on during the summer. The timing between QB and receiver doesn't just happen in a week.
  20. I'm not hating on Jack, but this award was for the best offensive player. It was supposed to be based on stats in which case Dontre Thomas should have won
  21. Obviously a popularity contest
  22. The way Silsbee plays defense the size of other teams doesn't hurt them as much...
