Hey man I appreciate that but no apology is needed! Like I told you privately and I’ll say here publicly, I appreciate you coming to the defense of the players. Those boys play their tails off and our community needs people supporting them, Lord knows we have enough haters. It’s my bad for making comments that weren’t clear. Soft? Nah, takes a bigger man to do what you just did.

I can’t wait to watch wos vs Jasper or silsbee vs Jasper, whichever happens... or both lol
-
Actually if you compare common opponents of the other two playoff teams in our district, the only difference is they beat Splendora but gave up way more points than we did. We both lost to Huffman by about the same. Seems their offense is better, but our defense is better. So i don’t see a blowout happening

District 12-5a Points Allowed Per Game
L-Train11 replied to Realville's topic in High School Football
And they said Crosby would have the best defense in this district. -
There’s another poster on here who literally said our coaching staff isn’t worth a piece of crap. That’s the coward you should be going at

Great man there! One of the best I’ve ever met

Talking about talent, or lack thereof, is a little different than questioning the character of a coach and his decision making with a particular qb decision. Talent is god given mostly, but can be developed. Character is chosen by the individual. So saying that a team is not as talented as another team is not downing that team, it’s just the truth. Saying a coach made a stupid judgement call is challenge his intelligence and decision making, along with his desire to win games. To answer your third point, I’ve never questioned the kids desire to win. As a matter of fact, my argument of us not being as talented means that’s why we lose games, not because of coaching or a lack of effort. The way i see it, we have a coaching staff that tries, and kids play their butts off. And we still lose. It is what it is. I’m not hiding behind a screen name. The “11” is for the year I graduated. I’ve said on here several times that I was backup qb. Heck I’ve even said where i work. So if somebody really wanted to find out who I am then they could put two and two together. To save you some trouble, I’ll gladly post my first and last name for complete transparency if you’d like. And no, I’m not trying to be the “tough guy”, anybody who knows me knows I’m the exact opposite. I just have my opinion like you have yours.

He had a very key role in developing those teams in 2007-2009. We had a lot of talent back then. Been a talent drought for a while. If Babin leaves y’all will find out that a new coach with a new system won’t be successful. Because it’s not the coaching it’s the town. Been like this for 50+ years but for some reason people think Babin should be able to snap his fingers and change that
-
Exactly, and when you add injuries to an already talent depleted team, this is what we get.
-
They want someone who will throw the ball 30 times a game out of the gun but still lose games... oh wait, we’ve already had that before. Didn’t work out too well. I remember a lot of painful winless or 1 win season. But for some reason if we throw the ball but lose people will be fine with that 🤦🏻♂️

Barbers Hill 40 Port Neches-Groves 35/FINAL
L-Train11 replied to WOSgrad's topic in High School Football
Congrats Barbers Hill! What I’ve noticed for the past two months of working in Mont Belvieu is its an awesome community who gives a ton of support to the schools, athletics, and any other extracurricular activity. Couple that with one of the better coaches in the state and over time this is what you get. Y’all are on the rise, keep it up! -
HF must be a little better than we thought.

Our last year in 5A under Babin we lost to central by one point on a play where we went for two to win the game. I watched the film, if we didn’t miss the one key block we would have walked in. That win would have put us in the playoffs over central i do believe. Would have been two years in a row of playoffs in 5A. As far as the players being on the same teams, two were (Rhodes and Thomas), the others graduated at different times but may have played together for a year. My point was, you can’t name a true playmaker on our team this year that is a true difference maker like the Beards, Hanna, and Husseys of the past that we’ve had. HS football you need athletes
-
We are talking about self entitled Lumberton people who believe everything should be handed to us on a silver platter. With that said, they want deep playoff runs every year no matter how much talent we DONT have. A state championship appearance every few years would be nice too lol
-
It’s hard to develop a qb in a couple years. Usually by the time they get to HS their positions are set. Don’t count freshmen year, and technically you can’t count sophomore year, that gives you two years to pick a big guy and start developing him if he’s never played qb before. Not enough time in my opinion. Plus, I know a lot of tall good athletes who couldn’t throw a ball to save their lives. It’s a lot more than that. I was backup qb in HS, got moved to that positions after freshmen football season. I could throw the ball which is why I was put there, but I had never had experience reading a defense or throwing a ball under pressure. And that’s only learned through game experience.
-
We don’t have a Rhodes, Thomas, Ward, or Upshaw on this team. That’s why. We have no true playmakers
-
I went to school with 3 of them and played for Babin, the only one not worth a crap is you for posting something like that. All of them are knowledgeable and passionate about the game and the kids. Lumberton is lacking in talent not coaching. So why don’t you tell the whole story and let everyone know that we lost both our options at qb tonight due to injury, both of those happen to be our better runners as well. False starts aren’t really helping us either. But yeah, “crappy coaching” is our problem. Whatever dude. Heres some numbers for you and you tell me how these piece of craps are doing: 5 years prior to Babin taking over: 9-41, no playoff appearances. Since Babin, 25-24 with three playoffs trips, plus one this year. One of those in 5A. This piece of crap coaching staff is getting more kids involved in football than in the past several years in Lumberton, and we are no longer a pushover like we have been in the past. But when people like you set your expectations so high in Lumberton that’s when a good coach who is improving the program gets run off, and then we end up be irrelevant until the next decent coach decides to take over. Which may be never again at this point.
-
Thought you said west to woodville or south to Lumberton. My bad.
-
South to Lumberton would put them going through Silsbee.. just saying
-
The decision was made because of what a Silsbee player did, but I think it’s kinda gone both ways in the past with these two towns
-
One point game last year, so I don’t think you’d have to be a hater to pick HF... with that said I think Silsbee will win by a bigger margin than last year, but still it’s not impossible for Hf to win or keep it very interesting
-
Of course only Lumberton should be held to that standard right? I can’t believe North Shore can’t shut WB out since they are so much bigger...
-
If you can beat em, trash em!
-
With the way Baytown Lee beat splendora, I kind expected this outcome.

Crosby at Barbers Hill/Post updates here!

Barbers Hill is for real! Coach Westerberg seems to be doing a great job with the program
