Actually, this post is pretty silly. 2015 wos beat PNG 28-14, 2016 they beat Nederland 42-0. So little ole wos beat two of those teams in your list fairly easily, one they dominated. To sit here and say that Newton wouldn’t stand a chance against those teams you listed just because of what classification they are in is crazy!!

That’s the point I was trying to make after Friday night. Those beat us (Lumberton), but it won’t work against better secondaries. And wos will stop the running game even better than we did. My opinion, #29 needs to be running the ball more. Every time he is in he runs hard and hits the hole full speed and will pick up at least 5 yards a play, sometimes 8 or 9 easily just by running hard down hill.

Wos had a chance at beating Crosby with an offense that people say is questionable this year. So there’s not doubt in mind that Newton would have a very good chance at winning.

PNG offense is too one deminsional with RJ in. Newton would stop that.

Agreed.. looks like Silsbee found a good YOUNG qb that should develop into a great player.

Yeah none of our teams have a ton of talent walking around.

Lumberton will win it. We’ve got a bye week to get healthy and put together an offensive game around the personnel we have left. I don’t see anybody in our district having a defense as athletic and fast as Silsbee or Jasper. We’ve played two tough teams and will get it figured out.

Oh I know, and I give him credit for making the throws and for exploiting our weak area. All I was saying is the score doesn’t tell the tale. Our defense held their own against a three headed running machine. And as a Silsbee fan also, I would have liked to see more organized passes with actual routes instead of “everybody run down field and we’ll just chunk it down there”. It worked against us, when y’all play wos or playoffs it may not work so easily. but Silsbee did what they had to do to win the game, in the end both teams still have a lot to figure out on the offensive side of the ball. We just have no playmakers, that’s our biggest problem.

Injury bug. But our defense played pretty good. All Silsbee could do was complete the deep go routes which is our weakness every year. We shut down the run pretty well.

Will Newton even be truly tested again until 2019?
