That’s was a clean football hit, and no taunting happened. If you were actually there watching the game instead of just looking at the picture you would have noticed that the jasper player stepped over the Silsbee player towards the sideline. Someone just happened to get a picture at that exact so now everybody thinks he was taunting him. That play has no comparison whatsoever to what happened to the jasper qb and that along with past events is why jasper is not playing Silsbee. Has nothing to do with getting beat or anything like that. But, of course, they may not have a choice next year if Silsbee ends up in their district. Which brings up another point, does the UIL look at the jasper/Silsbee history and use this as a reason to keep Silsbee in a district to the south with wos?

The reason this argument is never ending is because both sides are right. Good coaching can help a poor program, just like poor coaching can kill a good program. But you’ve got to have the talent as well. Otherwise, as stated by somebody else on another thread, the same COACH would win every year. Now, I do believe that each side plays its own part at certain times throughout the year. Talent can get wins and can get you to the playoffs, and talent can get you district championships. But the further you advance and as the talent level starts to even out between teams, that’s when coaching wins ball games. And the better coached teams is usually who wins, but it’s not because of coaching alone. The talent is surely there as well.

What if they would have lost in semifinals? Quarterfinals? Still give them a parade? Where is the line drawn? I agree with the majority on here, GREAT accomplishment by the mustangs this year that 99% or the teams in our area did not even come close to doing, but some things should be reserved for the winner and the winner only.

Come on Soulja, a simple “thank you for all the hard work” would suffice. Despite you blasting him for every ranking he relseased this year because they didn’t match with your expert opinion, he still did a good job of trying to cover football this year and write several articles, giving the teams, players, and coaches the publicity that they deserve. Good job Danny, thanks for your efforts. Looking forward to next year.

They were a well coached team with good athletes. You gotta have both, usually tonwin a state title one of those two factors cannot be missing or you will come up short... especially in 5A and up

We are living in the best state that takes a lot of pride in our High school football. So, naturally, our coaches are gonna get paid accordingly! Plus, working 7 days a week during the season and pulling late hours every night for practice, I think they earn it! As long as football games keep pulling in a crowd and makes the school money then I see no problem with it.

I think he meant strength of schedule was pretty even.
