Yeah that’s what I’m thinking from reading the thread. But I was just pointing out that a team can be beat by a good team early and other people will be saying things about said team (PAM in this instance) because they didn’t go as far as what people think they should. For example, last year Silsbee lost in the first round after Calvin Tyler slipped on a play that would have been a td to seal the game. They then were beat on a last second throw. Everyone was calling for the first year coaches head not realizing that the Carthage team that beat them would eventually go on to win the state championship. So, everyone wants to jump on PAM and Crosby and teams like that because they don’t advance as far as we would like, but in the end it’s about matchups. You can have an easier route and go 4 rounds deep, or a harder route and be knocked out in the first or second round. Just depends

Can’t really judge a team by how far they go in playoffs. All about matchups and who you play. For instance, last year PAM got an “early” knockout from the playoffs to the team who would eventually go on to play in the championship game. So it’s not about how deep you go, it’s about when you draw the shorter straw and play that dominate team. Just my opinion. Same thing for Nederland this year and PAM.

When and where?

Silsbee defense was much better this year than in the past few years, besides this game of course and a few to begin the year. They had a good solid run there for a few games where they were playing good defense.

Manvel didn’t smoke Nederland, and I’ve seen both Nederland and Carthage play. Carthage is better than Nederland imo. And that’s all we can really go off of at this point because, just like last year with all the talk of who WOS could/couldn’t beat, we will never know the answer.

I wouldn’t be so quick to assume that.

I’m pulling for Silsbee, but I think if Carthage plays to stop the run and puts pressure on the qb then they will win. They will most likely not play conservative, and they will probably make Collins beat them with accurate throws while being under pressure. I’m sure Barnes will get his usual big play here and there where his speed will show, but if I’m the DC for Carthage after watching film Silsbee has still shown over and over that they are run first. Even with all the speed at WR. I would make them try to beat me with their speed. Defensively, I’ve heard and read that Silsbee has grown a lot in that area. I think defense has a good chance at making some key stops or turnovers, however if Carthage is really as balanced as they say then that could pose a lot of problems for the Tigers considering the threat at RB that you have to respect. This is a new era for Silsbee football, new coach with a new mentality. There’s no reason why they couldn’t be ranked in the top 10 or even 5 each year. I think he’s (coach smith) pretty close to getting that mentality instilled into his players. This could be the year that they break the Carthage curse. But at the same time, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Carthage win this game. Should be fun to watch!

PAM seems to play at the level of their competition, which means I think they will have one of their best games this year and will have a good chance to win this one.

I don’t even think central and ozen combining will make that much of a difference. Whether people think PAM is overrated or not is a matter of opinion, regardless I think we can all agree that they make our district better.

More important than the name, who takes over as head football coach at this new school? Or head basketball coach? That’s gonna be the hard decisions where one person will lose their job or have to take a lower paying position due to these unforeseen circumstances.
