  2. I am grateful that PNG has such a fast, experienced Silsbee Tigers program to play in pre-season this year. Playing speed always helps your defense work out it's schemes. Shug will have a great look at defensive speed to either throw, or run against. Provided that it is a clean, well officiated game, both teams will benefit from this one. I pray that every player comes through this game without injury. This will be a great running attack game to watch.
  3. May God Bless this family with Healing!
  4. Cool, as long as everybody is on the same page now!!!
  5. The Westbrook at PNG football scrimmage has been changed to Thursday, August 23,2018. It was originally scheduled for Friday. Varsity scrimmage time is still scheduled for 7pm.
  6. I am also! Not because of the cover, or what's on it, or why it is on it. Beaumont United is the story this year. They deserve the cover, however, the stories inside are about kids playing football, kids of all races, religions, beliefs & ideals. If we all did our jobs as parents, they want to read this preview because it is about SETX football, not because of any type of agenda, (ie...race, school support, or preferred ice cream flavor) Good grief!!! Let's just be excited about football!!! I'm Ready!!!
  7. BISD could just keep the name, change the sign to just say "The Butch" Everyone who cares about the former superintendent will know who that is, everyone that wants a name change will be happy that Carroll Thomas is no longer on the sign. Heck, we all call the stadium "The Butch" anyway. Makes no difference to me, I am just happy to play there every now & then. Hope BISD is smart enough to work this out & the board should let all the taxpayers vote on the name.
  8. If your in the mood, that day, for BBQ go to Billy Joe's BBQ in Port Neches & get a Chicken/Sausage Combo Plate. It comes with 3 sides, Texas Toast, pickles & onions. That is some good food, at a great price.
  9. Lets blame it on Oprah, she will probably be the next Democratic nominee for president, using her Japanese contacts trying to destroy Trump's reputation. LOL
  10. I remember Stephenville in 1999 State Championship Game had giant propane cans with ball bearings in them that they shook almost constantly. PNG put up a sign on our side that said, "For Noise, We don't need cans, We have fans!!!" Love those memories.
  11. 1. Crosby 2. Nederland 3. Barbers Hill 4. PNG Defense, or the lack of it, may determine the top teams this year. Do not count out Dayton, Vidor & Santa Fe, they will be upset minded. This will be a hard nose district, with a hotly contested battle for playoff spots. Ready For Some Football.
  12. Also, to make a point, it is just as rude for an opposing band to blast music while the other team is on offense. PNG has been guilty of this in past years, and other local schools play non- stop under these circumstances. Good luck trying to stop this from happening. I suppose there is a different set of rules depending on what, or who, makes the unsportsmanlike noise/music.
  13. Crazy, annoying & just plain rude.
  14. As previously stated that is what fans & bands are for. Let the people & instruments make the noise.
  15. Kilgore in past seasons sounded their horn at every kick off ( yours & theirs). Very distracting & poor sportsmanship.
  16. It depends on how the train horn is used. If it is sounded after a score, that is fine. The problem is when it is sounded as the team kicks off. The receiver is forced to concentrate on receiving the ball while a loud train horn blows in his ear. That is just stupid & unsportsmanlike behavior. Thank goodness, as a PNG Indian, we have plenty of fans & a great band to make noise. We don't need train horns!
  17. That is correct according to the local radio station that covers their games.
  18. That's the way to go. Bring in some corporate money, even multiple corporate money, to benefit all the kids in the district financially. Example: Welcome to Goodyear/Entergy/Home Depot Stadium. IT IS JUST A NAME!!! It will not effect the kids playing, the parents supporting & the district benefitting. It is after all BISD, a school stadium. The stadium will always be "The Butch" to most people. I could care less if the name is changed. This is what we will all call it! It's a name that is easy, quick & familiar.
  19. Get stronger, rested & ready for some football.
  20. Playing & practicing are 2 different worlds. However, I am sure that United will be ready to play!
  21. It is a tremendous home field advantage when teams use to turf have to come in & play on grass. I think it is very smart on Nederland's part to keep the field as it is. Whether or not anyone else likes it, they are use to it.
  22. I will state it again. Who knew the field would be wet so they could prepare for it. Great coaching during the game, great strategy prior to the game & home field advantage!!! Nederland won the game!!! That is the goal. That is why PNG had to adapt. The Indians just were not able to overcome. It was a great last drive & two point conversion by the Bulldogs!
  23. The adjustment, that PNG made in the second half, is what turned Roschon loose for running. Our game plan, in the first half, to pass effectively, was slowed down by slick footing. The answer is the field slowed us down & forced us to adapt. (Home Field Advantage Once Again!) Then our coach not having Shug fall down at the one yard line, on his last TD run, & then run the clock down so there would be no time for a Nederland drive, lost us the game. Nederland had a great drive at the end & the two point conversion was executed to perfection. The answer to your question of what lost us the game is all of the above. Plain & Simple!
  24. No excuses for last year. PNG adapted & began running more in the second half & we were successful. PNG adapted & lost. Nederland executed the last drive & won. It is not an excuse to say the field was watered down, it was a fact! Nederland has out coached us on a regular basis recently. Congratulations to them. Is that plain enough that I feel we lost the game. In fact it is as plain as the watered down field was! Smart move, home field advantage, etc...
  25. Well, in all honesty, a practice field can be wet down for practice, the same as the stadium field being wet down for a game. Once again, it is a home field advantage & nothing to be ashamed of. the visiting team has the problem, and responsibility to overcome this. No Biggie!
