Other FBISD Stadium is under renovation. All schools playing home games at Mercer. We got the "lucky" Saturday day game. No umbrellas is correct. I have found that a large beach towel over your cap & head & arms at least provides some shade at a hot day game. Have a safe trip, see you there!

If PNG can run the football, we win!!! If we have to throw all day, we will have some trouble! Regardless we must score a lot, I mean A LOT of points, & have solid defense. I have faith in those Indians. I will be burning up with them, but I will be under a beach towel for shade.π

Indians found a defense. I sure hope we can stay focused & execute through the playoffs. Offense can run & throw, no more mental mistakes, I like our chances to be in the top 3 in district.

Unsure of how quickly the Indians will adapt to the new coaches schemes & plans. Things will pan out during the season. Totally sure that I am ready for some Indian football!! Love that Purple & White!!! Praying for a year of success for both the Titans & Indians. Most importantly that the Friday Night game is injury free!π

Back in the 1970s victory days at Port Neches-Groves, opposing teams referred to the grass field at 'The Reservation" as a cow pasture. The grass was kept a few of inches higher than any other field that the opposing team would practice on. PNG would practice on that high grass field. It would serve to slow down the visiting team just a bit. Grass can most assuredly be an advantage if used wisely. π

We choose to be quite quiet for now! We will let our actions speak for ourselves once the season starts!π Win, or lose, I love those I-N-D-I-A-N-S!!! PNG has a special spirit, pass it on!!! π

I have said it before, and I will say it again. We are the Port Neches Groves Indians!!! If through some lawful means PNG is required to drop this name, the we should be simply: Port Neches Groves High School!!! There cannot be a new Honorable, Proud or Traditional Mascot whose only history is forced change. Therefore, if we must change the Port Neches Groves Indians, then we are nothing, and should remain so. PNG HAS A SPECIAL SPIRIT...PASS IT ON!!!

It's mute also. because I am sure the new coach will not listen to the 8000-9000 people that will be in earshot when he starts making these changes. He would be overjoyed to put everyone on mute. But thanks anyway for the misspell correction.π
-
Starters on Offense & Defense may be a mute point if a new coach is of the mind to put his best athletes at what he considers their best position. May be numerous crossovers.
-
I pray the new Head Coach is treated with respect & given the opportunity to prove himself in the position. I have supported this program for all my 57 years, and will continue to be a PNG Indian, as long as I live!!! I am so glad we went out & got a coach to build on a winning tradition. After all the most important thing is that : WE ARE THE PNG INDIANS!!!
-
I pray it is so!!!π
-
If PNG goes out & gets an out-of-area coach with experience in a winning program that wants to develop PNG to keep a winning tradition, I agree, 4th place. If however, a local yokel is hired, that may have friends in high places in the district, & believes that only repeatedly making the playoffs has been the coaches fault, they know "exactly what PNG has been doing wrong & only I can fix it." then 5th or 6th in district would not surprise me. A completely new program, under a completely new coach can go either way. It will be much better if a coach with absolutely no knowledge of PNG, other than they have a winning tradition, like the school that the applying coach has been working, & allow that coach to come in with a clear perspective & develop the program. We'll see!
-
Faircloth Mentality, or Administration Pressure ?: Oh, let's see. I take a 5th place district picked team to the 3rd round of the playoffs & I have 17 of my 22 starters back next year. I know, I'll leave the school just because I want to coach somewhere else. Perhaps an unsuccessful Sulpher Springs program would be better. That way I can uproot my children from their friends & from PNG Athletics. (That is a big pile of you know what.) There were other problems within that administrative system affecting his decision to leave. Especially when the team wanted, and needed him to return for another season. I am upset for the program, the players & the coaching jobs that will be lost as a result of this move.
-
I am hoping & praying, literally, that we go outside the area for a new head coach. NOT Beaumont, not Port Arthur, not even Port Neches Groves. We need a coach who's only knowledge of PNG is that they have winning tradition going, and that coach should desire to do everything in his power to keep that tradition alive. Home town boys may be friends with administration, or school board, but there is no place for that in hiring a head football coach. (Anyone remember the Tim Owen years at PNG. (He was well liked, a great guy, a great assistant, but not a great head coach.) Bring in the outsider that wants to prove himself in this new competitive district!!!π
