For one thing, I'm not arguing about is how fast the QB is for LC-M this season. Plus, there is speed like in the forty and what coaches call "football speed". I would prefer "football speed" at the QB position in the offense LC-M is running this season.

Yep DP, Cazzy Francis was a legit 4.4. He once ran a electronic time of 4.4 in college. I'm talking low 4.4. As for the Rose kid (HaHa) I'm too close to the man to give a unbias opinion.

Well, Driver runs better than 4.8 which I read in another post but this team is NOT the fastest in school history. Funny how fast people forget. In 1983, Homer Rhodes ran a 4.3, Derek Anderson ran a 4.4, a couple other's ran in the 4.5's. Then is 84, Chris Hyde ran a 4.4, Latham ran a 4.4, a couple other's and myself ran a 4.5. I hope the best for LC-M but there have been several people run 4.5 or better in the history of the school. Beat the heck out of Caney Creek!!!

I agree with the majority of your statement. Lamar needs to have some local flair but with football if it does come back there will be a lot of locals involved. 60% local HS players, then you have a marching band, 75% or more, twirlers the vast majority from local schools. Cheerleaders, must I state how beautiful our young ladies in SE Texas are, plus they are athletic. I know we have a great dance team and I want us to keep them but they aren't cheerleaders. There is a big difference. Believe me, if football is ever brought back there has to be and will be a lot of locals involved. My statement does not even include all the locals Title IX will bring.

I don't, recruit the best athletes you can whether they live in SE Texas or not. I do think a large number of football players can be recruited from SE Texas. I wouldn't expect more than 60% from this area. Perhaps some from the Houston area but you have to keep in mind the top tier athletes in SE Texas want to play at UT, A&M, UH, TCU, Oklahoma, LSU and those types of schools. BTW, the majority of the baseball team is from this area. Sports like basketball, tennis, golf, soccer have recruited kids from other countries but until kids like J'Covan Brown start choosing Lamar it is hard to fault Steve Roccaforte for going to Florida, California, Mississippi or Nigeria to land a player. Whether we locals like it or not, it is the coach's job in college to win. If they can land the TOP local talent that is just gravy. So, if Lamar ever fields a football team again expect 60% from SE Texas/Houston, 20% JC transfers, and 20% from High Schools out of the area. Now, get a coach like R.C Slocum, or another high profiled coach here maybe the numbers will be different but not much.

I'm with DP#1FAN on this prediction. It will be a great game to watch and very close to the end with WO-S coming out on top 28-24.

They wouldn't have 80,000+. Then too, I bet they would have a new coach before the next season.

Actually, Cazzy Francis was the best running QB in LC-M history. He rushed for over a 1,000 yards as a senior. Richard Pannell was the best passer and Buster Ascol was a good QB but was All-State at FS. So, QB wasn't even his best position. Then Cazzy Francis made it to the final cut of the Tampa Bay training camp as a WR. He was a 2 time All-SLC selection and lead the nation in punt return average. IMO he is the best to ever play at LC-M

I'm not "anti-Lamar" either just factual. Lamar was 33-77-1 in the decade of the 80's. I won't go see Nederland, PN-G, WO-S, Bridge City, LC-M or any high school, college or pro athletic team with that kind of record. I'm loyal but I also like being able to hold down my food. Bad football, especially a bad program is sick to watch. I'd rather watch paint dry. I guess some of you guys are more loyal or just have more boring lives if you support teams year end and year out who go 3-7.
