  1. Lol! I was! I just now got around to getting on this here website. It's gotten to the point that I seldom even look at forums anymore. Bellville has nothing to hang their heads about. I can think of a whole lot of teams who would've traded places with the Brahmas if given the chance.
  2. That was an awesome video! I feel so proud of these young men. They proved the doubters wrong. Bellville should be proud, too. I know it didn't end like they had hoped, but we've been there, so we can definitely empathize with them. Great season, Brahmas!
  3. Don't listen to a couple of homers broadcasting a football game. There's nothing "wrong" with being a homer, but you can at least be realistic. I will say Gilmer has two very good RBs that could start for over 80% of the 4A teams in the state, but RBs are always going to be only as good as the O-line blocking. YAC is very good for these two, though. Realistically, Gilmer would have to play lights out, AND Carthage would have to have a few turnovers and/or a lackluster performance for the Buckeyes to have a chance. I don't see that happening, though, unfortunately. I'd be tickled pink if we were to win, and satisfied somewhat if we played competitive. It's more of a mental thing than a physical thing, even though the proven coaching advantage goes to Carthage. Surratt and Preston are amazing at getting their players prepared, and making adjustments in real time during a game,
  4. I hope you don't gamble for a living, because if you did, you would starve to death.😂 Seriously, though, anything can happen in a game played by teenagers, but I don't see anybody in 4A remotely close to what Carthage is this season. They have imposed their will on every single opponent they've played, and they've played some very good teams. Honestly, they are on a whole other level. I hope China Spring does actually challenge them, but I don't see this one being close......at all.
  5. Man......., it is so hard to say Surratt will lose in a championship game. However, I think La Vega has the team this year that won't be denied. I honestly hope I'm dead wrong about that.
  6. There goes that "scared to play us" theory. Look, folks, Newton is a loooong way from Gilmer. Even halfway is a long way. There are a LOT of quality teams in Northeast Texas who we would "prefer" to play because of that reason. It's definitely not like we're in a weak region at all. There are good teams everywhere up here. I do like this match up. I'll have to agree with the one who said Gilmer ain't what they used to be. They are still a very good team, and a real threat to make a deep run, and IF the stars align just right, may even be a threat to make it to the top again. Count me as one of those realists that doesn't believe Newton could've stayed very close to last year's Carthage team. Newton had a really special team last year, but they have classifications for a reason. Playing Carthage would've essentially been a 3 classification jump for Newton.
  7. Carthage is a beast..., especially on championship day. If I could pick any coaching staff I wanted to start up a program, it would definitely begin with Scott Surratt.
  8. Hahahahaha... You ain't right. Gilmer didn't play their game in the first half, or it would've looked like the second half. Two can play that game.
  9. Wow! I honestly thought this "could" be a close one, but I was "pretty sure" Tenaha would prevail. Muenster's defense was a whole lot better than I had anticipated. Congrats to the Muenster Hornets!
  10. I'm interested to see what Kennedale looks like against Carthage. That will likely give me a better feel for what the next game will look like. Personally, I think PG is a better team than Kennedale, but I can't be positive about that.
  11. If you are thinking you are going to wear those big ol' PG boys out due to their being conditionally inferior, you are going to be surprised. Those Hawks can go 48 solid minutes for sure without noticeably getting gassed. I'm not sure who will win this one at all. I'm not biased either way, but make no mistake about it, the Hawks will not be an easy team to beat, in my opinion.
  12. I don't know when that will happen again. We've had a huge turnover in our coaching staff, and we haven't looked like ourselves the past couple of seasons. We will continue to have good seasons, though, but getting to the level we have been getting to may take a little longer. I don't know. We haven't had quite the talent level we're used to seeing, and we have also lacked the discipline we are used to having, and getting that back is tantamount to getting us to championship level. Time will tell.
  13. Yep..., and it'll likely mean you will get 45-ed. I'd be surprised if this game goes the distance.
