  1. Ya'll funny lol. I'm guessing winner of the Cowboys/Texans game gonna go to the Super Bowl lol . The homer analysis on this site is getting out of hand. Oakland has 0 chance of beating Boston in a 7 game series. This ain't the regular season, and Mike Fiers as your #1 ain't getting past Boston. That may be the dumbest take I have ever read on this site. Yankess, a little different. That lineup can potentially upset Boston if they just go off in a ridiculous way. But, they would be nowhere close to favored in that series. Houston better find their 2017 selves or Cleveland will be moving on. Both have very good starting pitching, Cleveland has a better offense but the worst bullpen in the league. Depends on which team finds it first. Oakland beating Boston...in 7 Games.....WOW.
  2. This is my exact point. Some have the players, some have the coaching, not everybody has the resources. Gotta go for real this time lol
  3. Shiiii, I gotta get back to work before I get canned. We gonna have to agree to see things from different perspectives. Athletes,Coaches (not just HC), Resources (not just turf). Gotta have all 3 to win in 5A-6A... Got have at least 2 to win under that. Thanks for the conversation, it was fun.
  4. No, the Tigers thing is from college 2010 is from kids. I have family all over the areas, from big school to little schools. Coaches, players, former players... I am no expert. These are strictly opinions formed from what I see. I am not implying coaches aren't trying to win every year. I am saying some lack the players, some lack the coaching talents needed, some lack the resources. In today's high school football, the teams winning it especially in the upper levels, aren't lacking in any of the 3 discussed areas.
  5. What is doubtful? That some teams aren't doing what they need to do to win a State title? Please..
  6. Anything before 2000's you going to have to throw out. Times have changed, technology, coaching, how kids are trained, mechanics, the list goes on and on and on. Pre-2000's is irrelevant to the what it takes to win now question.
  7. Superior Coaching, Superior Resources, Superior Talent. At a smaller school, you ain't winning State without 2 of the 3 5A-6A you ain't winning a title without 3-3. White,Black,Hispanic, Asian, don't matter.
  8. All teams may have the same goal, but not all teams are doing what it takes to have a shot at that goal, and some no matter what they do, wouldn't.
  9. $$$$ you already know. It is not the field it is the resources that comes with. Coaching staff. Position Coaches that are more knowledgeable than many HC's here, perfecting an individual players craft. If asked you to build a house and gave you all the wood and a hammer and a nail it would not be that great. If I gave the same contractor unlimited tools and resources and said, build a house, which turns out better? Katy just don't talk the football is life theme, they show it. Year around.
  10. I am not at all blaming anything on the parents, or really the players. I think our perception is wrong here. Yes, we love football, and it is great tradition for the communities, but is it really? Compared to the teams that are consistently in it, I don't think so. Again that is just me.
  11. I didn't put it that way. There has been a handful of people in the last couple of weeks put it that way, I have not. I try to stay away from that. I'm confused on what you disagree with. We seems to be on the same page. I am assuming that you disagree that other areas take a more active approach to winning rather than hoping to make a run every few years or hoping to get a fumble or pick six? I don't have the data but I would bet the farm that the teams that are consistently in the mix every year, do more than just breed the athletes. It has to be a lifestyle to win big time highschool football games. It's not a August to November life and win a title. It has to be your job year around, and I imaging that those teams that are in it every year dedicate their time and money to winning it. Idk, everybody has opinions.
  12. The question is why it is better in other areas. Regardless if it is about money, that is one of the answers. For the record there are thousands of kids in this area that pay for private baseball and basketball coaches and pay to be on select teams and travel ball teams. Money is an issue for some not for all, and I would venture to guess it is not the issue for the majority. That is an excuse.
  13. Private parent-paid coaches. Like the private hitting/pitching instructors for baseball lessons. I am meaning like kids taking more of an initiative outside of the school ball stuff. I could be wrong, but I can definitely see that type of stuff being different.
  14. One thing about Vidor I have learned from living in this area. Regardless of who they have in any given year, regardless of talent, that team plays hard. They play for each other. There is something to be feared about a team that plays with that type of physicality and reckless abandonment. I don't meant this negatively at all, they play desperate, desperate teams can beat anybody.
  15. There is a difference in being serious about football, and being SERIOUS about football. We like to think this area lives and breathes the game and what not. The difference is the serious kids, white or black, in the DFW area and others actually live and breathe the game, the good teams anyway. Not just August to November. That may not be an opinion that is accepted but I bet the Highland Park kids do 100x more football than what we do here.
  16. I agree. I don't see anybody playing them within 10 points the rest of their season. That is just me. That unbelievably good for their classification.
  17. This is one of the pettiest arguments of all time. Not just for this topic, it is everywhere. The fact that WB doesn't win State at the 6A level is irrelevant to the already ridiculous topic that were posting about. WB would monkey stomp Newton. That is taking nothing away from Newton's kids. If you don't believe that, get out and catch a WB game.
  18. Both teams are irrelevant. Neither are going anyway outside Round 2. This thread is Silsbee/Lumberton. With Lumberton as banged up as they are, who knows how they finish. LCM is trash at full health.
  19. Come on, take Aggie. -6 is a lock.
  20. Agree. Ohio State probably wins out, but are overrated. Penn St...eh. solid win on the road, but a 1 point win...eh okay.
