  1. Is this ball harder to hang on to in 6-man. Dear Lord how many times can you fumble the football in a SC game?
  2. What facts are you stating? That those coaches have Titles? That is the only fact you can come up with.. the rest "mere speculation". You obviously haven't been to a 5A SC game lately. With what Nederland had this year, no, none of the 4 coaches you mentioned would have gotten them a Title. Were you at the Manvel game? Who is the last 5A team you have seen play at a SC? Outside of 22/21 5A, what teams have you watched play? You have no clue. Just a hater. You're boy didn't get the job, get over it, or move on out. Community members like you, who have no clue, are what brings programs down.
  3. The 4 coaches you named wouldn't look at Nederland twice. They ain't taking that job. Ya'll lucky to have Monte.
  4. The dude has ran the program for 1 year. He pulled an upset against the Indians at MCM, pushed a Manvel team, who I think is playing for a SC, and you still out here trying to stir the pot. You are just a hater. You have no legit questions or comments. You been sitting here taking subtle shots a man who has had the reigns for 1 year, and by honest unbiased accounts has done better than expected to this point. As the previous Nederland fan posted, I would be willing to bet you were not at the Manvel game. If you were, you would realized Nederland was significantly out manned. Like I said, you are just a Monte hater. The only time you are on here posting is talking ignorant mess about Nederland coaches.
  5. You been a Monte "hater" since Day 1. That's not speculation.
  6. Do they all still travel by bus? I would think they would be on charter buses at this point, at least for a State game? Shame on the school if they are not. And most leave the day before the game so they aren't traveling the day of the game. Idk, I understand the complaint, but don't see what much can be done about it. Somebody will always be closer to the stadium no matter where it is played. It has't bothered WOS. I just don't think it is as big a deal as some, but everyone has their opinion.
  7. Part of it is our communication with each other. We gotta stop letting it get contentious and even personal. We gotta find common ground and go from there. Not just on this topic, but on almost all of the ones on this board. BigGirl and that group do the same, but we gotta do better at communicating as well, or nothing gets done.
  8. For me, no. I would let some nerdy guy in a white short sleeved button up sit in a room and figure it out. I would give him a chinese food take out voucher per day and let him dig in. Maybe once a year fly him to the North Pole and check on things. But no, I would not be for dropping a Trilly on this thing.
  9. I have tried, oh have I tried. You two are like my two boys (Aggie vs Longhorn) at freaking Thanksgiving. (when they still played).
  10. Okay how about this: Global Warming is a natural process that has occurred over the course of Earth's history. The advancement of Man has sped up the process to some degree, but that, in itself, is also a natural part of life.
  11. Silsbee is about to punch Center in the mouth tonight. The Rough Riders are in for a long game tonight.
  12. That is fine. Our idea of "this area" was initially different. I was assuming for "this area" would mean close enough you didn't have to pack up and move. Or somewhere you could get to on a daily commute without getting up at being on the road for over 3 hours a day. My bad.
  13. PE, Speech, ISS, DAEP, Career Devleopment,... possibly History. I am all for the coaches, as well for the teachers, but most coaches have a cushy teaching gig. Not all, there are always outliers, but there are very few coaches teaching Math, Science, English. I am with you though, I have no problems with what coaches make. If anything their football stipends are not enough when you break down the hours they put in during and out of season.
  14. Many teachers and coaches are doing just that, they have been for years. I know many former teachers and coaches working out at the plants and making the money now. Public Education has lost quality teachers and had to replace them with "this generation" quality teachers who don't do near the quality of work teachers used to. Most people refuse to put themselves in debt actually going to college and doing the work, to not make enough to ever get ahead.
  15. Beaumont ISD starts at 45K [Hidden Content] Houston ISD starts at 52.5K [Hidden Content] Goose Creek ISD starts at 54K [Hidden Content] BH ISD starts at 52K (as told by a friend) Humble ISD starts at 53K [Hidden Content] Katy ISD starts at 52K [Hidden Content] Dayton ISD starts at 49K [Hidden Content] You are the one who said "There are a lot of school districts in the area that pay quite a bit more than that. And I'm not talking about huge schools. Even though the bigger schools start teachers at over 50K". That is not true. The only school considered this area you named was Beaumont and that 45, dead middle of my point and yours. I guess Dayton is "this area".
  16. Starting Pay Silsbee- $36,770 Nederland- 43,500 Bridge City- $36,770 LCM- $38,500 Lumberton- $38,000
  17. Which local district schools start at over 50K? For just teachers?
  18. i'm not devaluing a coach by no mean. You have to have an elite coach to win it all. But, I am not about to say that an elite coach can take a bunch of scrubs and get to state by pumping them up and teaching the proper tackling technique. You have to have both. Period.
  19. The college example is a little misleading, recruits fell off the wagon for Baylor with the whole raping women thing got Briles fired. Not being able to bring in top recruits means you have less talent, which would explain their fall. Yes, I think Aledo has better players than PNG and Nederland. Like I have said, to win the Title, you have to have very good players, as well as very good coaching. Coaches can make good players very good. Belichek isn't taking over Ozen or Lee and winning a title with the talent they currently have. I believe it takes both. Take Brady from Bill, do you honestly think they win those 5 titles? Why do the Texans suck with Savage, but average 21 points more a game with Watson? Does Bill O'Brien coach better when Watson is on the field or is it because he has a better QB with Watson on the field? Alabama wins titles because they have arguably the best coach in the country AS WELL AS, several 5 start recruits and 20 NFL draft picks on the team.
  20. Teachers (coaches who teach included), do a lot of work that goes unseen. That put in extra hours on a daily basis as well as a lot of summer hours. They deal with a variety of different students from all different walks of life. 40k a year to teach is drastically under paid. It is why schools struggle to get quality teachers nowadays. What teachers have to do/deal with on a daily basis, for most is not worth the salary. But, I believe most schools pay their teachers what they can, and that is all you can really ask. Public Education is just not as big of a priority as it should be. As far as coaches, I am cool with what they make. They are away from their families for 6-7 days a week for months at a time, depending on the time of year. Not to mention all that goes into it. Educators in general deserve more than what they get, both from a respect and monetary standpoint.
  21. Why are they thought of as "not athletic"
