  1. Not a Beaumonter, but I don't see the problem with this, especially in the grand scheme of things. Flanigan has a duty to prepare his team to be the best he can be. To play the best and prepare them for a possible playoff run. Playing Ozen and Central every year, just because you can claim a worthless Beaumont Bowl championship, doesn't do that.
  2. Create another award. Willie Ray Smith B TEAM award.. Given out to only Beaumont's finest.
  3. Are you serious? It's not exactly easy either! It's his ability to get the most out of the athletes, teach them the game, and have a better x's and o's mind than the guy on the other sideline. The Fedora family has proven to do all of that. "Its not extremely hard to coach athletes....." For some it proves to be very hard.. Kenny Harrison and Toby Foreman say HI. Look at Kirbyville before Jack Alvarez. Did the athletes magically show up when he got the job?
  4. They have the top LB in the state who also plays on offense. He's 6'4 230 and has offers from around the country. It'll take more than him to beat WOS, but they are a pretty good program, and I'm sure he's not the only good player, he's just the best.
  5. That would serve them justice.. Then they will fall back to just another program. He won't have a hard time finding a job that is for sure. Maybe he will get the last laugh and leave in May and leave them scrambling.
  6. Sounds like small school politics at it finest. The school board thinks they know best and don't know when good enough is good enough.
  7. McGallion went to Silsbee from Navasota, I doubt he'd go back.
  8. I'll stand by what the man told me. Wish I could remember his name. He was employed for the district for over 30 years, as a coach, principal and moved up to the sup's office. Maybe his story was exaggerated, I don't know. Maybe he was a little lit, we were at the Ship's Wheel. I know that HF gets what they deserve after running nearly every coach off for the last 2 decades. Sorry I ruffled your feathers and sorrier that HF is a coaches quicksand.
  9. Many other states are on opposite cycles of Texas. Many in NE Texas play Louisiana teams regularly. You have to find the ones that were previously on 1 year contracts with other teams. You hate to get middle men and promoters involved b/c they are greedy and screw things up, but that's how many of the OOS matchups come to happen.
  10. Is that the year they ran Koenning off b/c he wasn't good enough? Either way, poor decision on their part.
  11. HF people aren't the brightest, I can tell you that. I was told a story last summer, down at the beach, by a former HF superintendent.....Back in 1974, HF was #1 in the state, Newton was #2, and they were in the same district.. Only 1 team made the playoffs, and Newton beat HF by 1 point or something like that. Well, the powers to be in HF said #2 wasn't good enough, and they deserved better. So they ran off a TXHSFB legend in Les Koenning. Newton went on to win state in 1974, and HF has been fairly unnoticed ever since.
  12. I wish WO-S would look into Louisiana. If they looked as far east as they looked NW to Abilene, they could go all the way to Mississippi. Lots of similar sized schools between Orange and Baton Rouge.
  13. What open dates does WO-S currently have? I know these things move fast, but which 2 dates are they looking to fill?
  14. This will be next to the existing Rhodes Stadium. I hope they stagger kickoffs (have a 7:00 start and 7:30 start), and hope the late game goes later than the 1st. The traffic nightmare that's fixing to happen will be Houston, Texas nasty.
