  1. Panama, it's true... That's why Lee had to take their pads off Friday and go sit in their buses while Central could remain in uniform and have chalk talks during the lightening delays. That's why when the officials said they could start warming up Central could get right out there and Lee had to delay while they unloaded off their buses and got their equipment back on. Of course, you missed the game Saturday. I've never seen a varsity team have to take halftime and do chalk talks outside with the sun beating down on them before. The thing is, the home and visitor lockers are part of the same building. Amazing that the A/C is fine on one side, and out of order on the other...
  2. Well, I was just guessing because you didn't say what they do... What do they do?
  3. WB... No, I haven't heard them. I can only guess at what you might be talking about. If it's racism type stuff then that's wrong too...
  4. You're right BMT... It's pointless to bemoan the shenanigans that go on in athletic contests or anything else in the "Gilded Triangle"... Fairness, integrity, honor are not a consideration there. The golden (triangle) rule is; do whatever you think you can get away with... What's funny is, it's become CULTURAL! The people there are okay with visitors to be taken advantage of, and everyone visiting EXPECTS it to happen. It may get your kids a few more wins, but it reflects negatively on your area in every other way...
  5. Well, this game has been about beat to death, but just a couple more observations/questions... Why did the Lee not have any coaches coaching from the press box? I have a guess. You Triangle schools doing a little wire-tapping at your home games? LOL The locker rooms at TheScariest are basically in the same building. So why was the A/C working in Central's locker room but not in Lee's? Lee had to go sit in their air conditioned buses during delay Friday night and out in the sun during the halftime of the game Saturday. Coach Olin offered to move the game to Stallworth on Saturday. Why didn't Central's coach take him up on it? If it were a district game it would be one thing, but the teams certainly could have gotten much more out of the contests considering Babe TheScariest was no more than a slip and slide. But even more importantly, BISD could have possibly preserved the field for future, more meaningful games. It'll be a piece of chit the rest of the season now...
  6. I suppose your strategy as a fan - being as negative as you can be even about your own team - is a good one because ultimately everyone (but SLC) loses and goes home, which makes you right. I prefer to stay positive. But the funny thing is, no Lee fans have been boastful, making wild predictions, etc here... Panama and I, the only 2 Lee fans I know of on this board, prefer being positive about our team, but you'll have a hard time finding any posts by either of us guaranteeing anything. We both said before the game Lee would struggle with Central and stated our reasons why. After seeing the game I thought Lee was further along than I thought. They played even with Central when nothing went their way and I can find silver linings in that. The thing is, if you say Lee sucks you pretty much have to say the same about Central. I don't think either is the case. A positive outlook and putting things in perspective works for me. I'm a big fan, but in the end these are teams of teenage kids... If the constant negativity over such a thing helps you in some way, then go for it (as if anyone was going to stop you). The thing is, negative fans are not fans at all. They're negative because being positive means they have to invest in their team and eventually be disappointed. Since all the teams eventually lose, it's easier to be negative and say "I told you so". Negative people count this as a success...
  7. Yeah, you have the right to say anything you want, and I have the right to take exception to it. And I do take exception to it because you are a grown man posting about the character or heart or toughness of specific 16, 17 , and 18 year olds. Then you're posting you assessments on the internet as if your opinion about such things should be listened to. I take exception to anyone that derides a teenager that's trying to do something positive. If you HAVE to do it why not do it in a more useful fashion? Why don't you deride the kids that won't be eligible in 6 weeks because they're not doing their school work, or the kids selling drugs, or the "tough guys" in gangs? Those are the teenagers that have no heart and need an adult like YOU to tell them so...
  8. Short... Your assessment of the QB couldn't be further from the truth. He wore "turf" shoes because he only had white cleats and black turf shoes (because they'll mostly play on turf) and the coach wouldn't let him wear white. Excuse or not, the shoes took away his biggest asset, which is his mobility. He also can make plays when things go bust. I think Lee's first score was evidence of that. He's not scared of anything and that's why he would be a starting linebacker if he weren't QB. He also has received and will mostly accept an offer from West Point (Army football) which will include 8+ years of military service for his country. I realize it's not as tough as someone that might be looking at a future in jail, but labeling someone soft based what little you know about them is ignorant to say the least. Here's his highlight video from last season: These are games against Cinco, Cyfalls, Cy Fair, teams that went as deep or deeper than any Golden triangle team went last year. Looks like he's a playmaker and will take a hit to me.
  9. Don't worry about PATITAN... He hates Lee.I mean he must be, because your Karma goes down 1 every time you say something stupid, doesn't it? He's on -84! ;D BTW, good game Central! All-in-all, considering the delays and having to come back today and all, seemed like both teams fought hard, hit hard, but kept it clean and respectful.
  10. I think my assessment that it was a pretty even game and Lee's D played well was confirmed by the stats. Another thing Panama was that Lee's QB was having heck with his footing and he was slipping or getting sacked for losses in situations that he can normally make a positive out of. I like our team.
  11. My objective perspective. Lee's defense played awesome. My guess is Central had less than 10 first downs the entire game. Lee's offense sputtered mostly because of the terrible field. Lee runs so many gadget plays that require guys making plays after the catch and there was just no footing for that. Teams looked even today. Good conditions and the game would have been close too, just much more scoring.
  12. Panama did bring up one good point: Assuming the lightening delay was legit, why did the Jaguars get to come out to warm up with 10+ minutes still left on the delay? Lightening isn't as dangerous during warmups? The Jags were fully ready to go and allowed out early while the Ganders were still undressed, apparently unaware that the game was on and they had the option to get out during the madatory delay. You know, the problem with playing in the Golden Triangle is; the attitude there is "anything you can get away with is okay"... Just ask Humble if that ain't true.
  13. LOL... You guys sure have a lot of conspiracies considering its a meaningless non-district game. Panama - you think they were trying to "ice" Lee? C'mon! BMT - um, you think Olin saw how good Central looked and started saying "I saw lightening, I saw lightening!" every 20 minutes? rofl Look, Lee has to go down there and play. You kind of expect Beaumont to screw the weather up, screw up application of the lightening rule, screw up the ticket refund plan, etc. Maybe they can get it in today. If not, good riddance to Beaumont for awhile!
  14. New Caney wasn't that weak. 13 returning starters from a team that went 4-3 in district last year. They now have a 5A enrollment and I'm predicting they surprise some folks and make the playoffs this season. That said, I have no doubt Lee would have handled them easily in a real game format. And no one says Lee has a "great" team. All I'm saying is that they're progressing and I personally saw some things to be encouraged about at their scrimmage. Of course, Galveston Ball this Saturday will be quite a step up and Gringo is right, Lee is in a tough district so nothing is guaranteed. Gringo... What team do you primarily support?
  15. I disagree completely Gringo. Here's why: Remember, each team started at it's own 30 yard line and got 12 plays period. New Caney got the ball first and made next to nothing in it's 12 plays. In a real game they would have only gotten 3 plays and then had to punt. When Lee got the ball they made 25 yards on their first play to their all-district RB. That was the last play he played in the scrimmage. They continued on and scored on a 70 yard drive, turned around and were heading down the field again when their play allottment (12) ran out. So they had about 120 yards in 12 plays on their first series. The next set of series for New Caney was against Lee's 2nd team defense. New caney, because they have less players, used 1st teamers most of the scrimmage. New Caney faired somewhat better during this series but still probably only gained 30 yards in 12 plays. Then Lee's 2nd team offense took the field and again moved the ball pretty well (against mostly NC 1st teamers). The point of these scrimmages, especially when one team is superior, is to work on different plays, personnel, etc. Remember, had this been a real game New Caney would had been 3 and out on offense almost the entire night and Lee may not have been so methodical on offense. Plus, these teams had drills together and ate together afterward. There was no point trying to score as many points as possible in your 12 plays. Nothing against New Caney, they played hard and have a good team (13 starters returning), but using extrapolation and inference, I'd make Lee a 40 point favorite in a real game against New Caney.
  16. My take on B. Lee vs. New Caney yesterday: It seemed very productive the way the coaches ran it. Both teams split into 4 groups and worked together on different phases of the game. Then the teams went to their respective sidelines and alternated 12-play series starting at their own 30 yard line. As long as they made first downs you got to keep advancing up the field, but only for 12 plays. The thing that stood out the most to me was the good, aggressive play of the Lee defense. Lee's "1" squad took the field 3 times (36 plays) and I think they gave up no scores and only 2 (maybe 3) first downs. All the defensive units played great (from a fan's perspective). New Caney ran a spread and had a good scheme, but they're a mid-pack 4A school. Lee looked to have them out-gunned in the talent department. All the Lee offenses moved the ball well. As a team I believe Lee had many first downs and scored 3 or 4 times. Assuming we don't get it too hard from the hurricane, Galveston Ball will probably be a much better barometer (yep, it's a pun) to judge where Lee is at.
