1. HF JV 30 BUNA JV 28 This was a good game that had a great ending. The LongHorn fan's were "ROCKIN" the stands. Good job by both squads and coaching staffs, good luck to both.
2. That's just plumb embarrassing, HF could not have tackled their grandmother that night, of course #1, #8, #4 are awesome athletes and would give most school problems as well. They have a whole host of fine athletes on both sides of the ball that is just the ones that came to mind. #8 and # 4 I believe are only Jr's and will have to be reckoned with again next year. IMHO if Anahuac stays healthy and eligible they should go at least 3 rounds deep in the playoffs, maybe even further. Good Luck Panther's, you guys have a great Team and Coaching Staff.

4. Based on the outcome that HF and HJ had with Splendora, they seem to be fairly equal. This leads me to believe that HJ will get smoked by the "WAC Attack". Sorry HJ you will simply be way outmatched in this one, Anuahac is for real gentlemen. "You best be believin in ghost stories, because you will be livin one" !!!  :o :'( Panthers - 56 Hawks  - 14
5. Hopefully my HF Horns will have to much pride too lose back to back weeks against 2A programs. I think HF will take this one in a close one. HF - 28 Buna - 27
6. They say speed kills and they are right, however you add power to speed and that is a whole other story. Anauhac has a whole host of speedy and powerful atheletes on both sides of the ball. IMHO there is not a 2A school in our area that can touch them. My Horns never stood a chance of winning this ball game, Anahuac gave it to us from start to finish. Good Luck Anuahac you guys have a team and a coaching Staff to be proud of. Good Luck to my Horns keep your heads up and keep working hard, at least we did not get blown out by a chump team.
7. Although I like my Horns gettin their "props". I just hope the boys do not get the "big head" from all of these Headlines. Good Luck Horns and remember keep "chopping wood".

i must be missing something.  We go out against Huffman and get rolled 63-0.  I did not witness the game, but only reviewed postings.  If we have problems at QB and it appears we also have problems on Defense, how can any think we would win by 7 or 7+? i don't want to be negative and would like to see the Hawks turn it around, but i need to see something positive.
Huffman may be really good. I based my prediction on HF beating Splendora.
IMHO, your assumptions are correct, Huffman is that good and Splendora is okay. I am not knocking my Horns victory over Splendora just stating facts. I think HJ takes this in a close one HAWKS - 28 WILDCATS - 21
9. One things for sure, the Horns and Panthers will strap on the buckets and decide it on the field come Friday Night @ Longhorn Stadium. This is our first home game so the atmosphere should be great. Come on out and get you a Rice Ball and watch two good teams and Coaching Staffs get after it.  8)  ;D :)

12. Great to get the win. However we still have a lot of work to do. Great job Horns keep " chopping wood " though.
13. While I will agree it is great to get the win, the Horns still have some work to do. Our defense has to start playing more physical and start tackling better. Offensively we need to execute the plays better and not be so predictable. I was impressed at how well the coaching staff was able to make adjustments at half time and how well our boys executed those adjustments. We totally dominated Splendora in the 2nd half, with exception to the chump yardage we gave up in the closing minutes. Horns please relish your win but please do not bask in the Sunlight to long as Anuahac is not Splendora. The WAC will want some redemption from losses we gave them when they were 21-3A, especially after their loss Friday night.
14. HF JV - 18  Splendora JV - 6 Not sure what the Freshman score was. Way to go Go Horns. Coach Price and his Staff look to be doing a good job with our boys. I was impressed, him and his Coaching Staff were on the sidelines helping the JV Coaches the whole game. He was not trying to take over he was justing offering suggestions and coaching the boys up.

17.
i beleive you are right parents need to let him do his job and cheer them on and not worry about why little johnny isnt running the ball
All he has to do is show the teams have had a marked improvement from last year and the parents and community will get behind him. We might not win but a few games this year but as long as we are competitive, the parents will be just fine with him.
18.
Thanks to Jasper who did a great job hosting a one-day tournament.  We played 5 games and were done before 6:30pm.  I am glad that we were able to come.  (Of course, it is always more fun when you win). Congrats to all the Teams.  All of the boys (and girls) played hard in some serious heat!
I second that, Jasper did a great job. Speaking of great jobs our Manager basically threw together a team of boys from Lumberton, Vidor & HF. We literally handed out the uniforms Saturday morning before the games started. This group of boys came together from all walks of life and after just two practises went undefeated and took home the 7U Championship Trophies from this tournament. If you hear your team will be playing the " 7U LUMBERTON BOMBERS ", you better look out because these boys can "BALL". Manager Rick Edgeworth is a great Leader, Motivator and did I mention he is a DARN GOOD COACH . Special thanks to all of the Assistant Coaches & Dad's you guys did great as well.
19. I think the Horns will surprise some folks this year and be in the hunt for the 3rd playoff spot. HF has potential this year with the guys they have coming back. HF needs Coach Price to help them realize their potential and I think he will do just that.
20. Prayer's and Well wishes from HF Horn's Country.
21. WOS Silsbee BC or HF ( HF will compete for the 3rd playoff spot ) HJ OF HF will not be the Cellar Dwellar's this year. HF has some talent coming back, and we now have a Darn Good Coach. I think HF fans will be pleasantly surprised with the quick turnaround from last year.
22. got go with the HF Horns, from what I hear Coach Price really has these kids buying into what he is trying to accomplish. After going 0-10 last year, know where to go but up.
23. HF Horns vs Waco Connally Cadets, 1990 Regional Playoff game. HF was leading 29-14 in the 4th quarter and Coach Tarver with his usual conservative game plan of sitting on a lead gave up 2 TD's & 2 two points conversions HF lost the game 30 to 29.  Also the 1991 Regional Playoff game versus Goats of Groesbeck, HF lost 10 to 0 Groesbeck goes onto to beat Burnet for the 3A State Championship. These are the few I witnessed, there have been a few other's HF had in the 1970's that I am not sure of the circumstances but from what I was told they were Heartbreaker's as well. I know I was only suppose to mention one, sorry but I got caught up in the moment.
24. The actual traditional color was White Helmets with a Blue Longhorn. I believe this started in the early Seventies with Coach Koenig ( might be mispelled ) and carried thru until Coach Danaher left in 1985. The coaches used to give little Golden football helmet stickers as awards. I remember as a young boy being in awe of the player's who's helmets were covered with them. Now that's a tradition I wish they would bring back. To go along with that tradition the Band uniforms they used to wear were the ones similiar to the UT Band, white hats included. Oh the "good old days".
25. word has it he tried to bring one assistant with him, but HF's inability to pay and or match what he was making at the Hill made him stay there. Unless Price's guys are let go by the Hill's new AD/HC it does not look like he will be getting any of those talented guys. IMHO we need to use what we got already, HF has two former AD/HC on staff to go along with Price and as long as there is no power struggle we should be okay.
