Just looked it up. They are actually #1 in that category of combined no-hitters. No other team has more than 2. What an odd stat. 4 in the last 8 years. They now have 18 total no-hitters which is tied for 3rd in all of baseball. Amazing when you consider how young the franchise is ('62). They surpassed the Reds tonight who have been in existence since 1882 ("modern version"). Tied with Red Sox, Cubs, and Giants as of tonight. The Mets, same season of inauguration as the Astros have 2 in team history. Edit here as I found one more stat...since 2022 the Astros have more no-hitters than all other teams COMBINED. Just an amazing statistical anomaly.

Astros seem to be the Kings of the combined no-hitter.

Easy there. KU won the Big 7 title in 1949. That wasn't many years ago. Only 77 years. They have been fairly weak over the years with this being only the 7th NCAA tourney in school history. Will be rooting for Ruiz and the Hogs.

LU vs. A&M is scheduled for Friday night on the SEC Network at 3:00 PM. Thought it a bit odd that A&M as the host would play the early game, but I assume the network set the time for broadcasting purposes.

We will learn of Lamar's destination in about 2 hours. Changes to the projection have occurred. The Arkansas projection of the 16th seed did not hold up and Mississippi State was named as a site and is likely the final host seed team. Baseball America has the Cards in that regional. D1 Baseball has them now going to College Station. Interesting if it holds up...both sites have Oregon State in the Oregon Regional. What a miracle that the seeding could work out so perfectly to match these 2 (yes, sarcasm on my part). Note: the tournament will have seeding for the top 32 teams for the first time. The most sought after ticket could be Arkansas at Nebraska in the 2nd day if that projection holds and both win the first day. Site distance for Arkansas may make them the "favorite" for largest visiting team fan numbers in the first round. If the D1 projection holds Aggie fans should be happy at the opportunity that sits in front of them. Will hope Lamar can pull an upset, but the other 2 are Cincinnati and Boston College. Both had quality season, but A&M should be a massive favorite overall. The bracket matches up with the Alabama Regional and Arizona State could take that one. If so, Aggies could host a Super as well. Almost all above is likely meaningless, as the odds of all 64 teams falling in the projected slots makes the word unlikely an insufficient term. Just a stitch head musing.

Little more than just averages need to be examined when Nick Allen has a total of 11 hits on the season and is a career .214 hitter. He went 3 for 3 today with his first homer in 2 seasons to boost his average over 60 points. Yes, money was the issue and Dubon had to be moved to avoid luxury tax, but comparing these 2 guys is a stretch. My uncle says hello, btw.

Projections only, but D1 and Baseball America now have Lamar slated for the Arkansas regional. The projection has Arkansas as the 16th and final host seed. Former HCU/Lamar outfielder, Damian Ruiz would be facing his old teammates if this does occur.

Box score posted with the online schedule now shows 2131. That seems much more accurate especially if the facility holds 3500 as "advertised." D1 and Baseball America's latest projections have the Birds headed to Starkville. We shall see if they are accurate soon.
