  1. Everyone one throws around the word discipline when discussing teams. I will change it for just a moment and call it well behaved. Having seen HF play in person only about 3 times in the past 10 years, however I did not like "they way the carried themselves." This may very well be the best behaved group I have witnessed. A huge unsportsman like cost La Marque big time on a possible scoring drive and HF never appeared to do anything that could cost them throughout the night. Late in the game there was an extremely minor push after a play and an HF player immediately was forcing his teammate to the sideline to keep his team from being hit with unsportman like as well. Hoping this is not a 1 time thing and they stay away from some of the foolishness of the past. Whether coaching emphasized or just an overall decent group of kids that was my personal highlight from last night's game. Now, someone may come on here and defend some past teams actions and that's fine, just giving an opinion.
  2. Don't you give in to peer pressure. You be you, don't change for the weak minded on here that can handle the harsh truth they need to hear at times. No, Uncle Spidey, no!!
  3. Very nice win tinight.
  4. That deserves a self imposed 24 hour ban. Sad. Just sad.
  5. Sadly that is likely not the case. Cleveland, for starters, would likely finish out of a playoff spot in a majority of 3A districts. Also, the lower performers in Fort Bend. They were absolutely dominated in games against EL Campo and Livingston in non-district both of whom were not remotely close to the top tier of 4A who we know the better 3A would compete well against. There are some horrible inner city 6A teams. Some suit up less than 30 on varsity squads despite the school attendance numbers. These schools are reference are not the norm, but they do exist.
  6. W in the Bronx. If Espada is really out after the season, he is still auditioning for future managerial positions. He won't quit on players that pushed for him to get the job a few years ago. May question his decisions, but he's a baseball guy. He cares.
  7. Dana Brown is out as he and the Astros "mutually agree" to part ways.
  8. Will likely never bern done, but all it would take is the removal of a scrimmage or the regular season being 10 instead of 11 weeks. The only other concern would be stadiums, but higher seed playing at hime round 1 fixes that issue. Like the thought. May be difficult to find a "TV" broadcaster for the small school weekend. Who knows? Somebody get HJ Jamey on the phone.
  9. 10 plus years out of coaching and have seen 2 or 3 regular season games the entire time. All changes this year with a sparkle and glitter daughter on the sidelines. Yippie, I say with absolutely no enthusiasm. HF hosting LaMarque for me at what will be the first of what I fear is quite a few Thursday and Friday nights messing my MLB TV. Kinda looking forward to it, but don't tell my child! Will leave updating to bullets.
  10. Yuck. Hiw about the stat anniunced during the game stating the Astros have a tremendous record when the clean up hitter has an RBI? My take has nothing to do with great win percentage in thst scenario, it's how in the heck does the 4 hole have less than 50 RBI through 130 games. They weren't referencing a specific person who has hit in that spot. It was the 4 hole in all games. That's not good. Bad loss tonight.
  11. Eight runs over this game and the previous 3 not counting what they may do in a meaningless 9th inning. Not a good time for the offense to fizzle. Early in the game the booth was discussing Lambert's workload and then he struggled, if he has hit a wall it's going to get tough to hang on to the West and a series loss to the Angels at home is not helpful. It's baseball though and who knows what will happen at the end.
  12. Bond issue led to a rebuild of the stadium in early 2010s.
  13. Very nice facility. EC has utilized the site for playoff games on occasion despite it being a smaller classification school.
  14. Astros don't strand a runner at 3rd with no outs. Nice job Smith.
  15. Pecko's old man beats his son in the best mustache contest.
  16. This is normally a recipe for disaster. The fact the Astros are above .500 is a definite anomaly in this situation.
  17. Yeah, you bunch of illiterate fatherless children. What Uncle Spudey said!! Sorry, my inner Sam Kinison kicked in there for a moment. Carry on.
  18. It is essentially a boarding school. So residence halls (dorms) do exist.
  19. This is accurate even for College students. As a professor I have had 18-20 year olds break down in my office about being away from home because they didn't want their coaches or teammates to see it they come to me. 89Falcon is right on this one.
  20. What a strange game. He was projected as a guy entering free agency this off season to be worth 100 million on a 4 year deal. Then this season was played....and now he may get a 1 year "prove it deal" at a much lower per season level. Can he find lightening in a bottle for a few weeks? Astros could sure use a hot bat from an unexpected source.
  21. And I should proof read. Sorry for all the typos.
  22. The ball hit in front of the plate and the 3rd based umpire judged that the ball passes over rhe bag thus making it a fair ball. Where it lands after passing the bag dies not matter. The following is the wording you would find in the MLB rule book. Batted balls that first contact the field between home plate and first or third base are considered fair if they subsequently bounce over or directly contact either base, or otherwise pass either base while in fair territory. Was pleased to see the score and highlights this morning!
  23. Yuck, but it's a win, 2-1. Astros follow up last night's loss in which they had 5 hits (all singles) with 4 hits today although 2 were for extra bases. Quality pitching the past 2 days. Rangers play tonight and tomorrow. Could be tied come Friday. Go Angels!
  24. The Astros need to be moved to an all east coast division, play only in the division and all road games. Does it make sense....well to me it does.
  25. Truly agree with your last point. Give a squad 2 pitchers that are top 15 in the league and 2 quality relievers. Everything else on the squad can be slightly below average and you've got a chance if you can just get in the playoffs. This is of course not the Astros squad this season just a thought in general.
