  1. Imai may end up being extremely valuable if he can replicate tonight's performance a few more times before the season ends. We shall see.
  2. Well we have a trade. Arrighetti for Daulton Varsho. Interesting. Varsho is a rental, as he will be a free agent after this season. Make a run and Varsho produces...good trade. Flounder and Arrighetti becomes a quality pitcher for several seasons...bad trade.
  3. Who do the Astros have they would be willing to move, what could you get for the player(s) you would give up, who would need/want them, and what teams could build a better package with so many teams in contention this year? We could see a shocker move, a "flyer" move for an old pitcher as a salary dump for another team, and possibly nothing big or nothing at all. Wait, see, and wonder. Will be an interesting day across the league.
  4. Alvarez hasn't hit a home run in 4 games. Probably won't hit one ever again. Hope the Astros can dump him before the trade deadline. Anybody miss somebody?? IYKYK.
  5. The stat shown in game about Alvarez having 8 homeruns against the Rangers while only 3 teams have 1 more on the season than he has by himself is outstanding. He is a one-man gang!
  6. Bullpen gave up 2 hits while recording 13 outs. Sousa gave up two walks but the other 4 guys gave up no free passes. Good ball game.
  7. Along with leading the West, the Astros now have the same record as Cleveland who presently hold the final wild card spot. Nice change of status in just a few weeks for the club.
  8. Imai has 2 more years guaranteed at 18 million per year. Even if you wanted to move him and some team sees tremendous upside in him, they wouldn't willing tell you that and you aren't moving a guy with a negative WAR and that much guaranteed money without eating a tremendous amount of it. Have to hope he can become a "dude" next year is the likely scenario.
  9. As of today Yordan Alvarez leads the AL in runs, hits, HR, batting average, RBI, on base %, slugging, OPS (on base + slugging), total bases, and intentional walks. He leads a few other "stat nerd" categories as well. He's kinda good.
  10. Wish this could occur for softball and baseball as well. However, overnight hotel stays with best of 3 series, the need to find turfed fields with May rains being such a strong possibility, and factors I'm not thinking of at the moment make it practically impossible.
  11. Shhhh, again. Astros played a game tonight, enough said???
  12. The Astros need to win 60% of their remaining games to finish with 84 wins. That might give them a shot at a playoff spot. They will have about 50 games left at the trade deadline. If they are sitting with a win % around where they presently stand we could see a few guys moved. Wait, see, hope, complain, etc.
  13. Hardin taking flights on road trips! Now that's impressive.
  14. Are these guys being hired as full-time faculty? I know UIL changes things, but I think the rule is if you are retired with 20 years of experience or more you can be an assistant coach and not a full-time employee. Would only need to pay a coaching stipend in those instances. Not sure if that is still allowed. Andy Evans father did it for several years at EC for football as did my old man for a baseball squad.
  15. Did you mean coming back for the team or members on this website for our entertainment?
  16. Interesting analysis in the studio show after the game. Described as not a huge win, but after giving up the lead the Stros avoided a big loss. Nice to see Pena's "cramp" yesterday was likely really a cramp. Never trust a MLB team discussing player Health.
  17. My favorite 4 month span of the year is over. Congratulations to the Sooners as former Lamar pitcher Jackson Cleveland closes it out. See you all in the Lamar baseball forum next season. Hit em where they ain't.
  18. Is it definitely Alvin HS or Alvin ISD?
  19. Last night's exchange between the Branch brothers was truly a blessing to witness. Just saw online that the umpiring crew located their parents and gave them the lineup card from the game. Their mom looks like she was still crying and it was likely quite a few minutes after the game when the umpires had the opportunity to give it to them. Family and sports!! What a great experience for them and glad we all got to watch.
  20. This Alvarez guy, is he human?
  21. I was always taught that Austin is part of California, so either I'm wrong or this Bishop fellow is wrong.
  22. The Super Regionals are on the air!
  23. True statement, but also hope he is successful enough that it becomes a concern.
  24. Milwaukee up 10-1 on UCF heading to the 6th. Hold on to the lead and they will be the first 4 seed this year to be 2-0.
  25. So many games it's hard to decide which one to watch. Wish they played an extra week with 32 reginal sites playing best of 3 like the supers. Could space things out a bit more. No it will likely not happen and an extra week added to the season is highly unlikely.
