  1. Each section in the lower bowl on the sidelines hold around 850 people (22 seats per row with 36 to 39 rows depending on the section). PNG has 3 sections at least 90% full and other sections filling 35 minutes before kickoff. Rough, very rough approximation of minimum 3000 already on PNG side. Band and Drill Team seated in the north end zone.
  2. 26,000 seats in lower bowl at NRG, fwiw. 10,000 guarantee will likely do it with room to spare. If that is the concern for the group in charge (it's not the Texans and I'm drawing a blank on the game operation group) it will definitely reach that point and then some.
  3. Southern Illinois 35 Nicholls 0. Close the book on the 2023 SLC season.
  4. Annihilated? If you anialated someone, you are one letter away from jail.
  5. Lorena and Franklin holding large 4th quarter leads. Rematch of district opponents next week looking highly likely.
  6. Nicholls travels to Southern Illinois. UIW despite an 8-2 record is left out. UIW's lack of a quality win and close games against what would be considered weak opponents by the committee was the likely reasons. Fourteen of the 24 teams come from 3 conferences. Missouri Valley has 6 and the Colonial and Big Sky each have 4. Note: 27,000 plus attended the Montana v Montana State game yesterday. That total is approximately 2.5% of the state's population. Interesting that the 2 biggest sports programs of any type in the state are FCS schools. If that happened in Texas, you would need a 750,000 seat stadium. A silly but fun thought.
  7. LU knocks off McNeese. LU finishes 6-5 with a 4-2 in conference record. McNesse could have a new coach next season. UIW beats HCU. UIW despite an 8-2 record will be hoping for an FCS playoff invite as the weakness of the SLC and some close calls leave it in limbo. Some projections have them in and others have them as a first 4 out. HCU and new coach Braxton Harris complete the most successful season in school history despite today's loss. Nicholls beat SELA on Thursday. Nicholls is the SLC champion and will learn their first round opponent tomorrow.
  8. LU up 52-27 with under 4 minutes left in the season. Congratulations to all involved on a quality season. Can they build on it?
  9. Curious on that as well. Other than SHSU, can't think of anything over 10,000 near Montgomery without it not coming south making the drive for PNG not much difference than the present neutral site.
  10. Was Lake Creek willing to agree to traveling to PNG's backyard? Was there going to be a coin flip for "home" with PNG using LU as its designated home site and this fell apart due to a NO from LU on availability? Would be amazing for SETX to have the opportunity to see the game, but I'm curious on the accuracy if this. Not trying to stir up anything, but this would be a quite unusual site based on the location of the schools without an unusual, but not unheard of agreement.
  11. Thanks, Snake. 28-7 half.
  12. This is a portion of a post I placed in the Southland Conference Football thread in the College Sports Forum. LU will host McNesse for the final game of the season next Saturday. A win and the Birds finish no worse than 3rd in conference. Could end up tied with UIW for 2nd if UIW loses. Lamar win would give them a 6-5 record with 1 loss to an FBS program, 1 loss to the SLC champions, and the other 3 to ranked FCS opponents. Going into this past weekend, those 3 teams were ranked #4, #6, and #10. Most, I assume, would consider this a good start for the team, the new coach, and his staff. Some might say much better than just good.
  13. LU loses to Nicholls. Nicholls clinches the automatic qualifier spot for the FCS playoffs. UIW was scheduled for NWST, but that game had been cancelled for weeks. UIW can still share the SLC title with Nicholls with a final weekend win coupled with a Nicholls loss. As stated Nicholls holds the SLC playoff spot, this is due to the head to head win earlier over UIW. SELA beat A&M Commerce. HCU knocked off McNeese and set the school record for wins. This win also ensures the first winning season in school history (includes forfeit by NWST). Next week... LU host McNesse. Most, I assume, would consider this a good start for the new coach. Some might say much better than just good. UIW travels to HCU. UIW will playing with hopes for a committee selection into the FCS playoffs. Thursday night game as SELA host Nicholls. Commerce was scheduled to play Northwestern S.
  14. LU falls 37-24.
  15. 34-24 early 4th. Nicholls leads.
  16. LU denied, stopped on 4th and goal at the 1. 20-11 halftime.
  17. 20-11. LU with a safety.
  18. LU fumble in the red zone and Nicholls follows with a 69 yard touchdown run 4 plays later. 20-9
  19. Nicholls has scored twice, but LU scores a defensive PAT after the 2nd touchdown. Early 2nd 13-9 Colonels.
  20. LU scores first 7-0. Early in the 1st. Playing for a 3 way tie A Lamar win would set up a final weekend with LU having a shot at being an automatic qualifier for the FCS playoffs.
  21. 70 plus yard TD pass. !!:35/14/4 4:10 left to play.
  22. Under 5 minutes left with Westwood in possession of the ball.
