New Waverly 44 Hitchcock 65/FINAL

7000 divided by 70 (using this as though all age groups were equal in size and no person over 70 lives in the community) is 100. 100×4=400 (3A enrollment). Dont know the official total for Hitchcock. Not being a smart A#$, I promise. City limit population and what's counted for population in school districts can be very different. In this case, maybe most of Hitchcock's school population lives in the designated census area for the town. Just speculation on my part. One example. Kirbyville has a population right at 2000. If the high school has 400 students, 1/5 of the entire population of the town would be high school students. Taking it further the K-12 population would be 1300 (100 per grade). Only 700 people in the town would not be in school. Rural area population and school size are very odd. -
Thin crowd tonight. 0-0 through 2 and 1/2. Lamar SP has 6 strikeouts through 3 innings of work.

Tough has nothing to do with it. It's a scientific principle. Ask any CSCS and they will confirm. You simply don't take a muscle to exhaustion in a anaerobic style over and over. Microscopic muscle tearing, which can be beneficial, will be exercibated and that's just the start of your problems. I'll add this. It's likely the tougher kids that are working hardest in an unsound program would be the ones hospitalized by pushing so hard.
-
No complaing because it's definitely a scientific based approach. Take ANY person in the world and train a muscle or group of muscles to the point concentric muscle contraction is impossible, eccentric contraction is failing easily, and do it over and over and over...HOSPITALIZATION is happening soon. Even an elite athlete from North Shore or the University of Oregon.

[Hidden Content] Exercise physiology matters!! Tough, not tough, whatever you want to argue....if you are going to work athletes extremely hard there is a process that must be undertaken to prepare the body. I know nothing of the strength and conditioning program at the high schools mentioned in this thread, but it's quite obvious that the "punishment" administered was not physiologically sound. The Oregon situation from several years back that I linked here should be all any coach needs to know that there must be progression to go to "extremes" without detrimental effects.

Tough night for the Cards. Too many walks and 2 big flys by the Tigers.

Final day of 13 days to glory?

You have a game extra in the 12-6 projection. That would be 6 games on the present total instead of 5. Assume you meant 12-5. Would be nice to see a sweep of UC-R and take a game from one of the weekday matchups. Simply winning 3 out of the next 5 regardless of who the wins come against would be decent.

LSU on Wednesday. Tigers are 10-1 and on a 5 game winning streak. UC Riverside out of the Big West next weekend at home.
-
Another close one. LU up 2-1 after 5.

I never can figure out the KLVI broadcast schedule with Lamar baseball.

Lots of ups and downs in baseball. Yes, there were a few bad plays here and there, but I wouldn't consider it poor baseball. Penn was out scored by 5 runs in a 3 game series against an SEC squad thats ranked with a 10-1 overall record. Penn did hit the ball well yesterday, but it wasn't poor baseball by any stretch. Penn is a quality baseball squad and although they may not hold the education quality of Harvard on the Neches the baseball squad would be a dominate team in the Southland year in and year out. First pitch today at 1. Go birds!

Something some of you may find of interest. Lamar's 8 opponents that they have faced this season are a combined 22-54. Two teams are winless (HCU & New Mexico St.) with 11 and 10 losses. Also, Alcorn State has 1 win on the season against a D2 school and is sporting a 1-9 record. Without those teams the record of the others is 21-24 and Lamar hold a 6-2 record against the other squads.

Just reading through these. My brother jokes that he still has shoulder trouble from my dad yanking him up on any deep fly ball back in the dome foam days. Thanks for the memory.
-
3 game win streak, but feel short 1-0 in a shot a at a 4 game streak. Quality of opponents...well....

Had a food truck, Taco Rey. As someone that attends almost every weekend game, I had no idea until I arrived. Advertising that would be helpful.

Editing. Game did go 10. At some point the posted run for Penn in the tenth was put in the 9th inning on the in stadium board. Very confusing way to deal with extras. Accustomed to just clearing the inning by inning and start extras with the 1st.
-
Drop it 7-6.
-
7-6. Penn hits a homer with 2 out.
-
Free baseball. Going to extras.
-
Still 6-5 after 7. Bases loaded in the bottom and nothing to show for it. 6 outs to match em.
-
6-5 Penn after 5. Lamar hitting the ball well today.
