  1. Let's play 2. Double header today starting at 2. Need to scratch out at least 1.
  2. [Hidden Content] Presently Lamar is hitting 30 points below last year's total with many of the same position players. Hopefully several can get on a hot streak soon. Pitching staff is loaded with new faces.
  3. The record of late has been underwhelming and yes 11 hits is more than a team wants to give up but pitching around that and giving up 3 earned should have led to a win. The pitching is dramatically better than last year. It simply is.
  4. Today's game had 3 earned runs. One simply because scoring doesn't allow for an error on a double play attempt. The batter that eventually scored the 1st run of the game reached only due to an errant throw. Several seeing eye ground balls. The pitching was more than adequate today. The position players for Lamar would likely tell you today's loss was in their hands not the pitchers. No matter what one may think of the pitching staff, today's game should have been won and the hitters/position players are surely still upset with their performance at the plate.
  5. 37 innings of baseball and 20 runs is quite decent. That's an average of 3.78 runs per nine. That's actually top notch. I'll take that horrible pitching squad and compete with them any day. The offense was lacking this weekend, but it's baseball.
  6. Drop the finale 4-2. Not much offense today.
  7. Game started out as though it would be extremely high scoring early and with the low humidity and light north wind it was the perfect for that to happen. The 3 homeruns (2 for LU) today were hit hard no doubters and several lazy fly balls crowded the warning track. The score was a bit high, but it could have easily been double digit scoring for both squads. As you stated, a nice win but a little more excitement at the end than the home team and crowd wanted.
  8. Kreuzer and Tauzin threw a combined 2 innings last night. Quite sure both are available today. Look for baseball to be unpredictable as baseball is prone to be. Would be nice to see a few bats to get hot and then remain consistent producers. 8 strikeouts last night in 67 at bats. So, they were putting ball in play. Missed last night's game and have no idea if it was a bunch of soft contact or what, but do need more production.
  9. Lamar loses game 1 of series. 9-8 in 19. Multiple chances with runners in scoring position but couldn't push one across in extras. Back at it a 2 tomorrow.
  10. Lamar and Nichols starting their 3rd game worth of innings. 8-8 top if 19th. Curious if this has set or getting close to an all time record for extra inning game in Cardinal history.
  11. [Hidden Content] For those interested and don't follow that closely. Quite sure those of you involved in the thread have already checked this out on your own.
  12. 9-4 winner. Banks, Bremudez, and Ramirez all with a multiple RBI day.
  13. Lamar 6-4 headed to bottom of 7th. UNO plated 4 in the top.
  14. Missing today's game, but the bats are doing damage at times. Two massive young men, Banks and Ruiz, have each gone yard. 5-0 Birds through 4.
  15. 45 pitches to 15 batters is extremely low and with 9 strikeouts mixed in makes that even more statistically surprising. A 2:1 ratio is quality. He was on a 4:1 ratio for balls and strikes. Normally seeing something like that would suggest a young man just throwing fast balls and getting hit hard, but he threw a perfect game. Quite unusual. Well done, young man.
  16. Tough day. Couldn't get a timely hit. Well played game overall
  17. 26-3 final in 7 innings. Vandy missed a couple of extra point attempts. Box score shows Mississippi State commiting only 1 error. MS gave up 20 hits, 10 walks, and plunked 3. Merely a horrible night is all. 61 runs given up in 4, yes only 4, conference games.
  18. Yes sir. A solo and a 2 run homer in the 8th and still threatening.
  19. Back at it. Conference play against UNO. Decent crowd on a windy night.
  20. Formats are ever changing. Really liked what the SLC did last year. Quite sure you know but in case others don't and read this. The #1 and #2 seeds each hosted a 4 team double loss tournament and the winners faced off the following weekend at the highest reaming seeds home for a best of 3. Made it to game 1 of the final series and the McNeese crowd filled their stadium quite nicely. That format is "dead" for a while for sure with McNeese holding hosting rights through I believe 2026.
  21. New info. Got this directly from an athletics employee at an SLC school. The format is 7 teams, but no bye. 6 and 7 face off in a play in game then it becomes a 6 team double loss elimination set up. Makes for a strange bracket as a winner and loser will face off on day 2. This sets up a situation of 2 different brackets possibilities for the remainder of the tournament based on the outcome of that game (4 or 5 teams remaining). When Lamar was a Sunbelt school this 6 team format was used at least a few times.
  22. I searched all over as well.
  23. I simply read it in the preseason picks article on the conference website. Odd number to take, but I have seen this done as a reward for winning the regular season. It's in the last sentence of the article. [Hidden Content]
