Only 5 games, but thus far it appears the pitching depth is stronger than last year. Hopefully it holds up.

Birds win!! 4-3. See you all at 11 Friday morning in Sugarland.

6 outs to go and a 1 run lead on Big 12 K-State. Hold em birds, hold em.

Lamar's noncinference schedule is fairly solid. Baylor adds another Big 12 school and UTRGV is solid. The program I miss them playing is UL Lafayette.

5-4 winner!!

Agree!!!

Up 2-0 after 2. Beautiful day for baseball especially in mid February.

Snell with opening day walk off long ball in extras! Last year walk off homer in extras on opening day....Snell was the guy last year as well. Crowd size was decent despite the cold. Back at it at 2 today.

Tomorrow at 6!!!

Not sure on matchups, but does it really matter? Bad baseball is better than no baseball!!!

Interesting news out of the UIL

I know everything your saying hitman, I lead a committee and lobbied for same opponent in a week, but everyone caved to one coach in the district and my own AD helped torpedo the idea as well. -

On the three games against on one opponent idea....once coached in a 6 team district that did that very thing. But, not in your proposed set up. Played each team once then moved to same opponent on Tuesday and Friday. Was kind of an interesting way to go about it. Started district play on a Tuesday which allowed us all out final tournament that same week. Then 2 weeks of single games before the same opponent in a week. -

Games during the week and total games. Three tournaments and 17 total games. 8 team diarist would mean 7 opponents. At 3 games each (21) you would only be allowed 1 tournament. The replacement for a single tournament is the allowance of 3 games. Again I like some of the ideas proposed and would have no real strong objection to any, however there is government uh uh I mean a governing body that makes some of the ideas impossible to achieve. -

UIL game limit all but kills your 3 game a week district series. I love the thought, but the game limit makes it practically impossible. Which again brings me back to the problem of so many games in a tournament playoff format. Again, I like the ideas you have, but just not sure how doable with the restrictions prior to that point. -
Looks like in 3A if your school has a quality football squad, you might just have a quality baseball squad.

Are you like me and dislike the first few weeks when the MAC is still in non-conference games and the Tuesday games have to wait a few weeks? I wish some FCS conference would take the Wednesday night slot or some network produce an FCS game of the week on Wednesdays. Give me sports!!! That's one reason I am a baseball nut. Months of games every night! Sure you hoops fans like that as well.

I agree, BUT and a strong BUT I would much rather watch a meaningless game around Christmas on a Monday-Friday during the day than anything else on the "idiot box." Give me Tulsa vs. Western Michigan in front of 12,000 (reported) from a soccer stadium at noon on a Tuesday over normal day time television.

Incomprehensible? Funny, but spell the big word correctly. Come on man. Now if you did it on purpose and I missed and inside joke...my bad.

I like your thoughts on this. However, a team would have to play 5 games to win a tournament if you lose in your 1st or 2nd game. College regionals can get pretty ugly when teams can scratch a win to force that 5th game. High school could get even worse. Again, I like the thought but it gets concerning when you think about it more in depth. Even the team that took its first loss in game 4 would be pitching kids that likely have only had bullpen sessions once district started. If the UIL didn't have the damn game limit so low it might would be different. Teams could play non-district games on Saturdays and those kids could see mound time. If that was allowed then your scenario would be even stronger to argue. Just thoughts... -
When does the Allstate Teams Get Released

Credit for this one. Well played. -
The last state championship game I attended at AT&T was 2010. Sat at least 1 level above field level in a fairly comfortable cushioned seat. I think most if not all seats are cushioned at AT&T, although not positive. With that stated, I would love to have the opportunity of a short trip to NRG, BUT have no desire to sit through several games on those plastic seats. If I ever planned to attend most or all games, I would willingly accept the drive to AT&T vs 9 plus hours on plastic. Yes, I am taking in to consideration walking around between games and half times as it is about an 11 hour day. Any thoughts on seat comfort from those that have sat through several games in a row at AT&T and NRG??? Television broadcast leaves the one site as the most feasible set up and a likely scenario of smaller schools not being televised if several sites were utilized. So, as much as some If you may wish for coaches to determine sites, that is likely a moot point.

Houston ISD basketball SMH
myrecordwashorrible replied to AggiesAreWe's topic in High School Boys Basketball
Once had a student teacher at an elementary school for physical education and his mentor (the actual teacher) was the head coach at a high school over 15 miles away. Yes, the HEAD basketball coach of a HISD school wasn't on campus as a teacher. Needless to say, his team was not very good, but did NOT place last in the district. -

My response was not about football. It was about you as a person. Of that, I have a clue. Have the last word. I have things to accomplish while you accomplish claiming others achievements as your own. Don't need to have no? Don't need to have any! Work on the grammar, "teacher."
