  1. The soccer recruiting statement was sarcasm folks. I know the demographics well and the kids playing in leagues outside of the area before entering high school. The talent pool was on campus before they even started the program.
  2. Sarcasm. It was pure sarcasm. Please read my post again and if you don't pick up on the sarcasm, I will gladly explain. Also, if you see my first reply in this thread you would realize where I stand on this issue.
  3. EC recruits big time. How else do you explain a 3A school being so good in 4A soccer! With the 10's and 10's of fans at the games, it has to be a big money maker for them.
  4. Gametime5 is likely not an EC nor Orangefield supporter. However he/she is a new poster that just did a wonderful job of throwing a well respected school and athletic program "under the bus." Thus, it leads to the EC recruiting slam coming along as well. If that was your goal Gametime5, well done.
  5. Please correct me if I'm wrong. This win puts Buna in position to secure the 4th spot next week and a likely Diboll match-up in the 1st round. ?? If so, good for them after those young men went through a very unusual situation of a coaching change "mid-season."
  6. Not the prettiest game ever, but athletes everywhere and a good watch.
  7. Did anyone else see Reginald Samples "twin" on North Shore sideline after the touchdown? The resemblance to me was amazing.
  8. Don't blame you on that. It's why I asked. I don't know if I've seen a 350+ high schooler carry that much weight so well. Would not want him to do this, but if he lost 70lbs. he would likely be ripped like body builder.
  9. Ouch. The district standings with points for and against. Just, ouch. If you saw, you know why I'm saying this.
  10. He sure did. Anyone have the height/weight on 99 for Atascocita? He moves extremely well.
  11. 674 on DirectTV. I assume most if not all with DirectTV know this, but simply pointing it out nonetheless.
  12. This is very interesting. Many call baseball the "series" sport and feel it should be that way at all levels and should have been instituted years ago. Many districts have moved to same opponent in a week to make it more "series like." The state tournament is likely never changing, but a 3 game series to decide it all could be fun if it were ever to do so. Only would add 1 week to the playoffs.
  13. Thought you might be saying that. If this is accurate, that is very uncharacteristic of athletes in that program. Hope this is a one off situation.
  14. Agree on the waste. I'll leave this topic be as it should remain a sport forum in this area. Hope the young man gets some assistance and recovery is rapid.
  15. Tell me again this won't get political. I guarantee you there are anti-athletic factions embedded throughout education that will be adamantly opposed. Again, I'm not stating whether it should or should not be covered. I just know people and truly know educators. As for my corruption statement...some insurance group will look to completely control this if it were ever to occur...then some politician will be linked to massive kick backs. My intent is not upset or be disagreeable. Just things to think about it. Also, if this is so simple of an issue, why has it not been instituted? It has liklely been examined by our government officials before now.
  16. Turned it down? What do you mean with this statement? Curious.
  17. When our tax payer dollars are at stake and the legislators are involved, everything is political. By your screen name, I know you and I vote the same party. Promise you, if this hit the floor of our state government it will get nasty. I will simply leave it at that. I'm not disagreeing with you all about taking care of this young man or any student athlete, but politicians will find a way to make this a problem. Insurance and our government. Think we won't have corruption. Think again.
  18. Careful. We are headed for politics in a sports thread.
  19. I may be wrong on this, but the school insurance options aren't always the best and I believe there are quite a few qualification issues and/or cost based on household income. If someone with direct knowledge could give more detail or correct me it would be nice.
  20. You have been on this classification issue for several years. It's old, its tired, and it's run its course. I guess every class below 6A DI is useless, because a larger school/town could say that to any level below. FWIW, the bleachers statement was truly hilarious....especially since the Newton folks have been inside AT&T a few times. Quite sure large bleachers aren't a concern. One more for you. Newton has handled East Chambers quite convincingly over the years while EC was consistently defeating Orangefield. So, your Orangefield vs. Newton does really hold water. If your going to try to be cute at least be accurate. Just a thought.
  21. That will be interesting to watch. It could take 4 years or it could take 10, but that area is and will continue to grow.
