Sterling is the guy. Just has to have board approval. One returning starter and a total of 2 lettermen. One of those plays football, so he wont be practicing basketball for some time once football kicks off. It will be a very young, small team. In order for this years team to have any chance at a good record, the staff will have to find a way to motivate kids to work way harder to improve their skills and then learn to play as a team. It wont be easy to do that in Vidor. No community support for basketball. No Little Dribblers to help get the little kids learning fundamentals. Heck, Vidor doesnt even have a rec center or outdoor basketball court any longer. Pretty sad, really.
Okay, but please let HF enjoy our win against Vidor yesterday. Yes it was a summer league game but at this time we gotta take any victories we get now ;D
That wasn't exactly HF grinding out the win vs. Vidor's summer league team. Looked more like Elite Red AAU squad squeaking out the W.

On the SBEC website the person in question's certification is listed as revoked as of 9/4/2007. Also, here is the definition of "revoked" on the same website: A revoked certificate has been rendered permanently invalid as a result of disciplinary action by the SBEC. I don't know him personally, or what he did to get his certification revoked, but I bet it can't be good. -
Good idea. The school coaching staffs have been beloated for to long. Cuts should be in every area. Can't spend anymore than we take in. Taxes are two high.
Jesus, it seems like someone cut out your English teacher before you had a chance to learn the language.

NBA draft net has Kemba being selected before Jimmer but it is close. I think the smart money says Kemba projects as a better pro than Jimmer because he is much quicker and faster, and can play the 1. As far as who was deserving of NCAA POY, well I don't think you can go wrong with either one. Although, Kemba did play against much better competition, and Jimmer was allergic to defense. I would take Kemba.

Iverson??? LOL. That's some funny stuff there.

I believe Immanuel McElroy belongs somewhere on the 2 deep. District MVP for 3 straight years. Lockdown defender for Cincinnati.

How would I get the ball up the court? I guess the old fashioned way, good passing and execution. Some people on this board seem to think "spot up" shooter means you can't dribble, pass, run an offense, or play defense. You don't have to be Allen Iverson to get the ball up the court against pressure, just have to be able to protect the basketball and attack what is given. Larry Bird was slower than Christmas and couldn't jump over a nickel, but he could create for others because he could read defenders and defenses, and knew how to attack them. Oh and he was also the greatest "spot up" shooter of all time. ;)
-
You can take all the "playmakers." I will take 5 "shotmakers" any day. When you have 5 guys on the court who can all shoot, nothing is harder to defend.
-
When you all are talking about "spot up" shooters, these are the same guys that coaches call plays for, run off multiple screens, bust zones, and set up inbounds plays for correct? There are many ways to get open and be effective, besides being able to "create your own shot", or better said taking someone off the dribble. Labeling some players as just "spot up" shooters is devaluing what they can do. JJ Reddick did a heck of a lot more at Duke than just stand in the corner and wait for one of his teammates to drive and kick.

Jacob Williamson with 45 pts. for Vidor. -
This is really for Bluedove, since he is the resident guru for the Longhorns. Just curious to see what you think about their varsity group this year. Do they turn the corner and challenge for a playoff spot? How does their lineup look this year? How many returning starters? And who is their go to guy? Give us the scoop Bluedove (or anyone in the know).

Just how many "Rings" do the Broncos have?

So it's Barrow's fault that Nederland had 3 turnovers and 1 missed FG in their 4 possessions in the 1st half? It's not always the coach's fault Bigdog.
Ozen has beat Nederland 3 times this summer
LOL...and that means what? Never thought I would see the day Ozen started counting summer league wins. -
SFA87 is whining he didn't get enough exposure 23 yrs. ago??? LOL. I like how you lump yourself in with those other guys who got D1 scholarships. Where did you play college ball?

Larry Bird was unathletic, slow-footed, and not extremely strong. Yet in his prime, he put up better overall numbers than Lebron has and he won championships, and was one of the most clutch players to ever play the game. Basketball is not all about who can jump the highest, or who makes Sports Center the most, it's about skills. While Lebron is physically imposing, he does not have the skill set of Bird, Jordan, or Magic.
-
Did I say that Pippen was a scrub? Good exaggeration. Would you rather have Pippen, Horace Grant, BJ Armstrong, and Bill Cartwright,or Gasol, Odom, Bynum, Artest, and Fisher??? The Lakers also had a deeper bench. Just stating the obvious in that Jordan was the better player by far. Congrats to Kobe. He is the current best player in the league, but he is not Magic, Bird, or Jordan good.

He was unstoppable on both ends of the court.
Bill Russell best defensive center (undersized) to ever play the game. Nearly always embarrassed Wilt in the big games.
Really??? Nash, you don't know what you are talking about. Wilt and Russell met 142 times in their NBA careers. In those games Wilt averaged 28.7 points and 28.7 rebounds per game. 7 times Wilt scored over 50 points on Russell, with a high of 62. Russell averaged 14.5 points and 23.7 rebounds vs. Wilt. His high vs. Wilt was 37 points. Now who is getting embarrassed again? Russell's teams did win more games head up, but they certainly were more talented as well. As a matter of fact, they were a lot more talented. And once again, no center had the total package that Olajuwon had in his prime.
-
No, what I am saying is that Jordan won championships with teams that were not as talented as Kobe's Lakers. And I am saying that comparing Kobe to Jordan is asinine. Jordan way way better. Hell, Bird and Magic were better than Kobe. And I am also saying that the Celtics got screwed by the refs last night. It's nearly impossible to overcome a 37 to 17 difference in free throw attempts.
-

and Lamar Odom is 6'10" (at least) and plays the 3 position. The have the tallest lineup in the league. Kobe definitely does not do it by himself. Why he gets compared to Jordan I will never know. As much as he tries to emulate the best, he's not close. The difference in the game was LA shooting 37 free throws and Boston only 17. Really??? That's how a game 7 NBA championship is decided? That's pathetic. LA clearly got all of the calls down the stretch in the 4th quarter. Every time Gasol touched the ball, they blew the whistle and rewarded his flops.
