  1. BBDad. who do u pull for? When its all said and done, no one remembers how pretty is was, just who won the trophy. Texas advances!
  2. Where's teamfirst to congratulate the Horns?
  3. need a hit here and score a couple.
  4. Jcovan Brown? Stevenash, do you offer anything to this board besides smarta** comments? Talk about beating a dead horse.
  5. I certainly don't agree with most of the things DickieV says, but do I share his opinion about the AD at LSCPA. How he got that position, I'll never know. I do know that they could do a lot better though. He is definitely not a people person, nor a sports person. However, insinuating that the softball program at LSCPA gets more money because they are white is a completely racist comment. And that is what you were insinuating DickieV. Your standard MO of making every situation a black/white issue is tiring and pathetic.
  6. Easy Team First, this is HJ boys we're talking about here. They could play at any Div I school if they chose to. Although Nederland beat them by 20+ points in Sour Lake, the Hawks were clearly the better team. Ask Lazeek. This just in...Todd Sutherland just turned water into wine, and found a cure for the Swine Flu. It's true. Ask Lazeek.
  7. James Brown was better than Chip Ambres.
  8. Bernard was Player of the Year in 3A? Think he could have done the same in 4A? Heck NO. What about Donahoe? Would he have been player of the year in 4A? No way. Good players, but remember what level you're playing at most of the year. Nederland was a good (not great) local 4A team, and they went to HJ and smoked one of 3A's best teams in the state. Different level of basketball. I know you HJ people prefer to live in a bubble, but stick you neck out of the woods, and you will see there are some other guys playing basketball in this state also. As to the original discussion, could some HJ or Silsbee kid have won the 3 pt contest? Sure. Would they? Who knows. Hard to say without them entering and seeing it play out. But I do agree that watching a dunk contest where the primary participants are from Pt. Neches and Nederland, is kinda like watching Ozen play Central in baseball.
  9. Yeah I agree...16 technicals. That HAS to be the refs fault. They're just picking on him. :
  10. Probably why our top three players are going to Notre Dame, Penn State, and Rice. Probably because you recruited all 3 of those guys. Or have all 3 been there since elementary? :
  11. What happened to Saveat? And who is the eventual replacement? Travis Williams?
  12. A 45 second shot clock is very reasonable for high school basketball. That is plenty of time to get off a decent shot, and it keeps the game moving along. No one wants to see a team hold the ball for 8 minutes each quarter. This is a relatively easy and cheap modification that the UIL is long overdue in implementing.
  13. Jared Williamson from Vidor is better than anyone on that 1st team. They must not have watched too many games.
  14. Isn't Vidor in Orange County? Hard to believe they would not have a single player recognized on that team.
  15. Every kid learning to play sports needs to watch that video. Heck adults and kids alike can learn from DJ. He's the true meaning of a competitor.
  16. If hand-checking, grabbing, and holding were called last night, Vidor would have won going away. This was the worst group of officials I have seen in some time around here. That being said, Vidor didn't make the plays, or get the stops, when they needed to.
  17. In Hayes' defense, he is the main man for OF. Whereas, several can step up and produce for HJ on a given night, OF relies on Hayes night in and night out to have a chance. He is MUCH more important to his team's success. That doesn't mean he is a better player, it just means that they are more dependent on him. It's much easier to stop one player than a team of players.
  18. The beaunont ref. likes too home cook a lot. I have seen some bad ref.before but not as bad. As the beaumont ref. Are you 6 yrs. old? That is the worst sentence (or sentences) that I have ever seen. I can barely make out what you are trying to say. Congrats to PN-G on a very good win. The district is certainly wide open this year.
  19. Beaumont would get smoked. Wishful thinking.
  20. Cleveland must have a heck of a team, because I know Silsbee does. Congrats Indians.
  21. You could win all the games by 20 + points and another team could win all their games by 10 + points and another team could win all their games by single digits but shoot free throws well and win the tourny. Yeah...and in college football you can beat a team, and finish with the same conference record and overall record and not make the championship game. See OU/TEXAS. It's just the way things go. Win all your games, then see what happens.
  22. After seeing them get dismantled by Nederland, I would say yes. I also think they have more talent than they are allowed to show due to the restraints placed on them by the coaching staff. Very conservative, and one dimensional. Turn that QB and big receiver loose.
  23. Ned will make the playoffs. Anyone who says different is ignorant or hasn't watched any games. Central will also. After that, I say Vidor has the best chance. But hell, Vidor is good enough to beat anyone left on their schedule.
  24. Lumberton STILL has the most obnoxious fans on this site. Man y'all can come up with excuses. Congrats Vidor and keep up the intensity.
  25. PNGGRAD1985...wow what an turncoat. I'm sure you were REAL popular in high school : The scars must run pretty deep. Hopefully, the Indians will bounce back. It would help if the head coach would let the offense open it up some too. *I'm not going to allow that refrence ,Thanks* BD
